Trend Alert: Comfort Shoes for Spring 2015

I was researching a post on wearable fashion trends for spring 2015, and I got so excited about this one that I decided to write a dedicated post about it. Never fear, I will share my favorite wearable fashion trends next week, but first, let’s discuss shoes!

comfort shoes for spring 2015

According to Glamour, comfortable shoes are on trend this spring, and I have to concur. I see them everywhere. Even certain athletic sneakers are being touted as fashion forward.

I can’t say I love the look, but you know me and the ridiculous saga of my feet, so I couldn’t be happier about this trend. This is the first thing I plan to add to my wardrobe — a pair of shoes or two that are super supportive and comfortable but trendy enough to be considered stylish. Right now I have resorted to wearing my gym sneakers with my regular outfits around the house, and then I switch into something that looks better when I go out. But I’ll be traipsing around Arizona with my family in a few weeks, and I need to look cute AND give my feet the TLC that they need, so I’m in the market for some of these.

Comfort Shoes for Spring 2015

1. Canvas Sneakers

I’ve been wanting a pair of Chucks for ages, and I’m happy to see them back on trend this year, although I doubt they have the support I need. Still. How stinkin’ cute is this Missoni Chuck Taylor® All Star® ‘Ox’ Sneaker!??

Another option is the Superga ‘Cotu’ Sneaker. These are listed as one of Nordstrom’s best sellers, and I can see why. It’s a cute, neutral, versatile style that would go well with many casual outfits, and it comes in TONS of colors.

2. Footbed Sandals

Birkenstocks are back this year, and they’re hotter than ever. This iconic Bohemian sandal made a resurgence last spring as a trendy fashion statement. I wasn’t ready yet, but this year I believe I’ll try a pair. They might be great for what ails my feet. I think they look cute on others, but the jury is out on whether or not I can pull them off. I have my eye on the Gizeh in this gorgeous apple green.

Another option is the Bristol by Söfft. These come in a variety of cute color combinations.

3. Slip-On Sneakers

Slip-on sneakers were super trendy this winter, and they’re even more popular this spring. These metallic leather slip-on Vans are super cute.

The TOMS ‘Avalon’ Embossed Leather Slip-On is another option.

4. Sport Sandals

This Surfside Platform Sandal by Steve Madden looks supportive, and it’s got a hint of glamour. I’d love to try these and see how they look and feel on.

FitFlops come in tons of different styles, and the foot bed is incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, most are made too wide for my puny, flat feet. However, I highly recommend them if they fit you. This one is called The Skinny.

5. Athletic Sneakers

Athletic sneakers are seen being styled as street shoes. This is a bit harder to pull off, but I’m willing to try it, seeing as how I need the support. My first goal is to find a pair that I think will go with my spring and summer outfit. I love the retro styling of the New Balance ‘574’ Sneaker. It comes in a bunch of different colors.

And the Brooks Vanguard is cute for summer.

They even have a section for fashion athletic shoes at Nordstrom.com.

Look, even the big designers are getting in on the sneaker action. I mean, if money grew on trees…

I can’t wait to take a trip to the mall and see what’s available and try some on. This is definitely a trend I can get behind.

  1. I looooove my Fit Flops. They’re perfect for putting on after a tennis match on hard courts. Mine are pretty plain, but I’ve seen some flashy ones at places like Marshalls.

  2. I just bought the “Shoreline” Chucks which are a slip on style with an elastic heel, and I love them! Not sure I can get on the Birkinstock trend yet, but I’m interested to see how everyone styles them. Have a great weekend!

  3. I love the superga, but I am really afraid it isn’t enough support for me. I am impatiently waiting for it to be warm enough to wear my chacos. They are the only shoes that have helped with the tendonitis I have in my foot. They also got me through some plantar fasciitis a few years back. I really recommend you look at them. Not the most fashionable, but so so comfortable. Of course, I live in Colorado, so I can get by with a bit of “mountain chic”. My leather chaco flips are every bit as comfortable as my sportier pair and they have some cute leather styles right now.

  4. Look at the ortho heel sandal website. I had plantar facititis and can only wear these now. Many cute styles.

  5. Hi, can you tell me the brand and style of the Orange sandal in the top left hand corner of the comfort shoes for spring 2015. I did not see it on the link for all comfort sandals at nordstrom.

    Thank you.

  6. I am a huge fan of comfort shoes! But only the cute ones. 😉 Last summer I bought a really cute pair of Sperry sneakers–the ones with the curly ends on the laces. They are so stinkin’ cute, but here’s the thing–I can’t wear them for very long because they make my legs tired. They are so HEAVY!! I’m going on a big trip this summer, but won’t be bringing those along for that very reason.

  7. You will love the Birkenstock Gizehs!! They are my favorite shoe, and I’m currently in the market for a new pair. I can’t decide which color I want! I also have plantar fasciitis – I was diagnosed last summer, which is when I bought my first pair of Gizehs. They reduced my pain almost immediately. Definitely worth the $$ investment!!
