The Perfect Beachy Pullover

Greetings and welcome back to 25 Days of Summer Fashion. We’re already up to day 20! Time flies when you’re having fun, right!?!

I hate to post another outfit with rolled denim shorts right after yesterday’s look, but this top is selling out so I wanted to get this post out before they’re all gone.

The Perfect Beachy Pullover

I’ve always liked the juxtaposition of long sleeves with shorts in the summertime, and this blue and white stripe pullover is the perfect thing to throw on with your favorite denim shorts for that effortless beachy-casual style. It’s lightweight and has a nice texture to it, and I particularly like how it’s slouchy without being schlumpy (don’t you like my technical terms?)

So often I’m drawn to the slouchy look but it just isn’t flattering. This top actually has some shape through the waist area, and the length is good too.

This pullover is hooded, which is a fun feature, and I love how the stripes come together in almost a chevron pattern at the seam in the back.

This top is junior sizing so I ordered the medium, and it fits perfectly. If you like the look and don’t like to buy juniors sizes, take a look at this convertible off the shoulder pullover. It comes in several colors including a blue and white stripe.

I’d wear this with white shorts or almost any color twill shorts, from khaki to pastel pink to bright coral, but for some reason I like it best with traditional jean shorts.

These are my AG Hailey flip cuff shorts, but unfortunately there are only a few sizes left at Amazon, and I can’t find this exact style anywhere else. (This year’s Hailey has a higher rise that I’m not a fan of.) No one does denim like AG and I love these, but if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, you may like this similar pair at Loft.

For this post I wore my Converse Shoreline sneakers, but I also like this outfit with a neutral sandal like the Tory Burch Miller sandals or these Lucky Brand Anika sandals.

I ordered the Anika sandals for an upcoming post I’m doing with Lucky Brand, and I love them. They’re easy to slide your feet into, and they have a padded footbed and soft leather straps… so comfy, AND they’re 40% off right now. I mean, $35 for leather sandals is kind of insane. (In a totally good way, of course!)

I carried a red crossbody (similar) for a fun pop of color and because I love how it pulls out the red stripe from my sneakers.

This outfit would be perfect for your July 4th festivities, if you live in an area where it gets chilly in the evenings. We’ll be in Maine for the 4th this year, so this will be perfect up there.

I kept my accessories simple with pearl drop earrings and a silver link bracelet. Even with the most casual of outfits, I always throw on an accessory or two.

I will definitely be packing this outfit for both our Maine vacation and our beach trip after that. This top is perfect for mornings and evenings when it’s cool outside and you want something long-sleeved but lightweight to throw on with your favorite shorts.

  1. Will you do a beach trip packing blog? I wish you lived next door so I could have had you shop and pack for my cruise!

  2. This outfit is something I would totally wear because I do like to where sleeves even in the summer. Some restaurants are so cold and it’s nice to have something for breeze evenings.
Jolynne, do think the TB Miller Sandals will go on sale during the Nordstrom half year sale? I’ve been wanting a pair but they are so expensive and don’t wear flats too often because I’m short. But would love to find some on sale!

    1. No, I don’t expect to see these on sale. They bring in new fall merchandise and that is what goes on sale. Last year there were some Tory Burch flats and some great handbags included. I bought two pairs of flats and a bag. 🙂 But the Miller Sandals pretty much never go on sale. 🙁

  3. Very nice outfit – especially like that pullover, and pop of red crossbody, Speaking of fall trends, last week I received a Back to School catalog from a well known retailer! I had to chuckle, as our grandkids weren’t even out of school yet! Hope your vertigo is gone!

  4. Love this! I was immediately drawn to that top when I saw it online, and it’s so much cuter styled in your pics! Really makes me wish I needed it! 😉

  5. Looks like it is sold out except for XS right now. Maybe they will restock. Cute outfit. Love the jean shorts. I’m still looking for the right shorts this year. I am going to try the Kut From The Kloth White shorts you posted recently. I did find a capri jean I like from NYDJ. The Dayla wide cuff capri. The rise is nice. Not high rise but just slightly higher than all the others out there and it doesn’t fall down constantly where I have to pull them up. I bought them in denim and white.

  6. Cute outfit. Love the red bag. And yes, as a matter of fact, I do like your “technical terms.” I appreciate your humor. ????

  7. Just wanted to let you know that the link for the Lucky Brand sandals goes to the Tory Burch sandals instead.

  8. This top would work great for me in the fall and winter, as a matter of fact. Summer, not so much because it’s way too hot & humid here.

  9. I was JUST telling my 18 year old this morning that I wanted to investigate the local H&M (we’re in Borneo at the moment) to search for sequinned sneakers and shorts. She looked at me, jaw agape. Well, the last time I wore shorts was over 20 years ago so I suppose her shock was rather understandable GRIN you look very cool and chic, Jo-Lynne, no need to apologise for showing rolled-up denim shorts in two consecutive posts. When it looks this good, you can be certain no one’s complaining xoxo
