Cold Shoulder Dress for Your Winter Parties

Good morning and happy Friyay! This is my second dress post this week. I hardly know who I am anymore!! I saw another blogger style this cold shoulder dress with leopard heels a few weeks ago and I was instantly in love. It will be perfect for winter parties and events I have coming up.

This cold shoulder dress is less than $100 and is the perfect LBD for all your winter events! I paired it with pink suede pumps for an unexpected twist.

I haven’t really jumped whole heartedly into the cold shoulder trend, but there’s something about this dress that I really like. I clicked over to see who made it and what the price point was, and lo and behold, it’s by Eliza J and it’s less than $100!!! I didn’t waste any time placing my order.

I mentioned a few days ago how much I love Eliza J dresses. I think this is my 4th one. She has great quality and style at a moderate price point, and they tend to fit me to a T. I worried that this one, being more of a body con style, might cling to the wrong places, but the fabric is heavy enough that it skims the body in a flattering way. Once again, I’m wearing my trusty Commando shaping shorts — my go-to shapewear for dresses.

The back has this trendy exposed zipper, which is a fun trendy detail.

When I wrote this post, the dress was in stock in all sizes, but now sizes are depleted. They got depleted before and restocked, so I am hoping that happens again. Keep an eye on it! For size reference, I’m wearing the Medium.

I ordered these earrings specifically go to with this outfit. I wanted something to pick up the pink from the shoes, and I love how these turned out. Bonus: they’re on sale for $20!

So the shoes. My initial instinct was to pair this dress with my leopard pumps, but I’ve done a black dress and leopard pumps several times. I wanted to try something different with this so I ordered several pairs of pumps in pink and burgundy tones. These pink velvet pointy toe pumps won out.

The selling point on these was that I can walk in them. I mean, I can walk in them EASILY. They are actually comfortable. They have padding in the footbed, and even though the toe is pointy, there’s enough room in the toe box that I don’t feel squished. Plus, the heel is narrow enough that they don’t slide off when I walk. I have a feeling these won’t be my last pair of Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps.

The fun thing about these shoes is, I can wear them with so many other things. I realized that I have an overabundance of neutral shoes in my closet. It’s time to add some color, and these are just the ticket! I’ve already worn them with jeans and a cute top.

To try to keep the look cohesive, I went with a pink lip. I usually wear NARS lipstick in Rosecliff over MAC lip liner in Spice with MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande Lipglasss on top. That’s my go-to lipstick combo for everyday. The pinks I have are way too bright on their own, so I layered Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Gin Fizz on top of the NARS Rosecliff, and then I blended it all together with the lipgloss. Phew! The things we women do for beauty! I really love how it turned out though.

The clutch I’m carrying is a little minaudière I picked up several years ago for a holiday party. It’s a great little sparkly number when you want to carry something fancy. It doesn’t hold a lot, but it does the job. Nordstrom has some similar ones. This glitter minaudière is cute but I really love this beaded clutch.

You may notice that the sleeves on this dress are quite long. I’m not sure what’s up with that, and it doesn’t really bother me, but this dress also comes in a short sleeve version. The short sleeve version is also knee-length, and mine is midi-length.

I think the midi-length is fun for a change, and it has a ladylike flair that I like. Plus I’m always happy when I find a cocktail dress with long sleeves. I don’t know about you, but I always freeze at winter parties. This one has enough coverage to keep you comfortable while showing just enough skin to be fun and flirty.

Of course the styling possibilities are virtually endless. I might swap out the pink shoes for red at Christmastime, or I might even stick with the pink! It’s fun and unexpected, and who says you have to wear red for the holidays, anyway??? I would also love this dress with a metallic shoe, and of course leopard is always a fabulous option.

  1. Oh Jo-Lynne, you look STUNNING as can be!!! Love the magenta with this fantastic dress!!!

  2. Hi Jo-Lynne! I love your dress today. The cold shoulder is perfection as well as the pink accents. So current!! I have crazy long arms, so maybe the sleeves would fit me :-).
Thanks for hosting Fashion Friday and have a great weekend!

  3. Beautiful! The color combo of black and magenta is great on you.

Question about the DL1961 Florence jeans- are they very stretchy? Also, I was looking at the Florence Warner jeans and it says it has a 9″ front rise (which I really need), but in the picture it looks much lower. Do you find it has a slightly higher rise in fact?

    1. I was reading thru the comments and I see I somehow missed your first question. The Florence are stretchy, yes. The material seems a bit thicker than the material of my Emmas but I know their materials vary a bit depending on wash, so I can’t guarantee the same is true of the 2 you’re comparing, but the Florence are very comfortable.

  4. Yippeeeeeeee, for another dress!
So simple yet perfectly elegant! And having the long sleeves is just what I need for the winter. It seems like most dresses are sleeveless so I need some kind of wrap or jacket!
    So lovely Jo-Lynne.
And I’m in love with the pink shoes.
This outfit is perfection in my eyes!!

  7. What an utterly stunning look, Jo-Lynne. A statement piece, yes, yet one with infinite possibilities and permutations 🙂 and can I say how cool your hair is???

  8. You look so classy and pretty in this dress! I love this kind of fashion…even though one day we will look back and think “remember when this was trendy”. Still….lovin it for now…and it’ll likely resurface one day.
    Enjoy your blog 🙂
