Coffee Talk

Coffee Talk with Jo-Lynne

Good morning! Is everyone having a good weekend?

Mine has been nice — fairly busy but not hectic. We managed to shoot an outfit yesterday morning, and I still had time to get to our church’s monthly women’s Bible Study at 9am. I was pretty proud of that! I used to enjoy having our Bible Study on Saturdays, but now that we try to shoot a few looks every Saturday morning, it has become harder for me to get there. I’m grateful that it worked out.

Afterwards, I hit up the mall. I needed to make a return, and I also wanted to scout out the new spring styles. Cyndi and I start 27 Days of Spring Fashion on March 1st, and it will be here before we know it!

I had some down time yesterday afternoon before Paul and I went out to dinner. We decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early this year. It wasn’t our best meal ever, but it was nice to get out and be together.

I also got a new Trunk Club yesterday (yes, already!) and inside was the perfect date night top. It’s a little long, so I did the front-tuck, and it was super cute with skinny jeans and my pink suede heels. I’ll try to post a picture to Instagram later today. I just took a quick mirror selfie before running out the door.

We weren’t out too late, so I was able to start reading The Book Thief before turning in for the night. I’m already hooked.

I’m hoping to fit in a quick run before church this morning, so I’m keeping this post short and sweet. Have a lovely Sunday!

  1. I’m really looking forward to the 27 Days of Spring Fashion that you and Cyndi do together! I was wondering if you and Cyndi could list your measurements such as height, if you are short/long waisted, and body type. I know it would give me a good idea if the clothes you and Cyndi style would work for me rather than ordering them and finding out they really don’t work for me (and it might be helpful to others that read your blog too). I’m finding quite a few stores aren’t listing the particulars such as the length of tops or even the amount of stretch in jeans. (Can you tell I’m taking the AYW class?) I hope this isn’t too personal a request.

    1. Hey Tina. I’m 5’5″ and #shortwaistedcurvy. I’m also a cool. My favorite length of skinny jeans is 29″ but I often do 28″ – especially with ankle boots. I have a pair of bootcut that is a 32″ and they are perfect with most of my heels. I usually wear a 3.5 inch heel. My sweet spot for shirts is 24″ or 25″. It really helps to know these numbers. It doesn’t mean I never deviate, but when I do, I have to work extra hard with other aspects of the outfit to achieve that perfect balance. I hope that helps!

  2. Excited for the 27 Days of Spring! With this crazy weather, it’s hard to believe its right around the corner. 10″ of snow here Thursday, then 40’s and sun yesterday! Today, we woke up to freezing rain, church cancelled, then rain turned into a few inches of snow, we’re back to freezing rain again…..always interesting weather here in the Pocono’s! What are your thoughts on colored jeans for spring? I saw some ankle ones that caught my eye in yellow and in coral. Both would look great with a navy knit blazer, and/or chambray top. My BFF & I take a yearly mid-May trip to Cape May. I love a nautical look when I go there!

    1. Good gracious! That’s some weather. We just have rain here. I have heard that colored jeans are gonig out for a few seasons, now. I admit, I dont see them much anymore, but I think they’re a nice addition to the spring and summer wardrobe… if not colored jeans, then ankle – length pants in pretty colors. I agree, the nautical look is great for Cape May!

  3. The Book Thief is one of my all time favorite books. I was so moved by it. So well written. May I suggest “Between Shades of Gray” by Ruta Sepetys. (NOT the 50 shades variety!) This is another YA that is outstanding. Takes place in 1941 Lithuania and the Russian invasion of that country. Just outstanding. Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Thanks for sharing the book “The Book Thief.” Its sounds good and after I read all the books I have waiting, I will check it out. 🙂 Has anyone read the book “The Nightingale?” I was told it was good, but haven’t read it. Looking forward to the Spring fashion series. March is coming fast.

    1. I’ve read The Nightingale. I liked it. It took me a little while to get into it, and parts were hard to think about, but it’s good. It’s one of those that really sticks with you.
