What to Buy: Nordstrom Fall Sale

Greetings, friends! The Nordstrom Fall Sale starts today, but I wasn’t going to do a post on it until I clicked over and started perusing the site. YOU GUYS. This is a good one. I figured it would be mostly Anniversary Sale stuff that hasn’t already sold out and other things we’ve already seen on sale, but no. There are a bunch of new markdowns, and a lot are things that I didn’t expect to see on sale, so I decided to do a roundup for today’s post.

This is definitely a good time to start thinking about your holiday shopping, if you haven’t already. For example, I splurged on this cashmere infinity scarf last year when it was on sale, and it is so good. Soooo soft next to your face and neck. It’s my go-to for a practical, warm scarf on the coldest days, but it’s also cute when you want it to be part of your outfit. See me wearing it here and here. It makes a fabulous luxury holiday gift.

Another one I didn’t expect to see — this Tory Burch Parker tote. Such a great classic tote. There’s so much more, but I just put together a shopping widget and made notes on each piece, rather than talking through them all in this post.

There are also TONS of jeans on this sale. So many that I made a separate shopping widget just for jeans. I found some great options for straight leg, bootcut, high rise, longer inseams, shorter inseams… they run the gamut! I tried to note all the details for you, but another good shopping tip is to read the customer reviews. There’s often a lot of great product info in those reviews.

The prices showing on the shopping widgets are the sale prices. Click through to shop! As always, when you make purchases through my links, it helps support my business (at no additional cost to you) so thank you!

  1. I think your suggestion to read the customer comments is spot on. I have relied on those comments many times when I have purchased clothing and large home items. I now leave my own comments when I love something or really dislike something I have purchased. Thanks for the list. I now have a list of Christmas gifts for myself.haha

  2. Thank you for this!!! I just ordered my mom the cashmere scarf for Christmas. She’d never buy something like that for herself so this will be an awesome thing to give her!!

  3. Thank you for all of the effort you put into this post!  I’m so happy that you are feeling better and having a fun week.

  4. Wonderful post, just my style! Shopping is my favorite past time and I just love sweater ponchos. They meet all my requirements—-casual, warm, comfortable, and stylish! Love the one you posted and I think it’s a Nordstrom day tomorrow! Thanks for all of these motivating pieces!

  5. Thanks for this post. Bought the Frye boots. Very excited.

Do you have any tips for shopping online on Nordstroms? I pretty much do all my shopping online but find it almost impossible to find things on the Nordstrom site if I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for because they don’t have a lot of fliters. Any tips?

    1. Ooooh you will love those boots! I actually think Nordstrom has great filters. I usually start under Women and choose the type of item I want (jeans, handbags, tops, etc) and then I go to the sidebar and drill down by category and then by color, price, brand, etc. With jeans you can filter by wash, rise, denim detail, leg style, etc. It’s pretty good. When they have a sale, I usually start by browsing the entire women’s section to see if anything catches my eye, and then I will narrow it down by clothing item, category, price, etc. For the blog, I like to do it both ways because I see different items each way I browse. Their search feature is pretty sophisticated too. They do a really good job tagging their items with different keywords so things come up even if you don’t type the exact name. This is wayyyyy better than any other retailer I’ve found. It’s one of the big reasons I feature Nordstrom so much. It’s so easy to find examples of what I’m looking for.

  6. I’ve seen you mention the Jeffrey Campbell booties a couple of times and each time you reference pairing them with skinny jeans. What are your thoughts on pairing them with dresses? I’m the same height as you and the dresses I have in mind are just above my knee if that helps.

      1. After that blog post I ordered that exact dress but in the tall size and I love it. I couldn’t remember that’s the shoes you had styled with it. I tried putting the booties in the search bar but it only pulled up a couple of posts and the one with the dress wasn’t one of them. Thanks! Guess what I just ordered 🙂

  7. Your blog is so thorough and helpful!  Thanks for all the fab ideas.  Early Christmas shopping at Nordys I shall go…Ho-Ho-Ho .????
