Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer #AmandasArmy

Recently a bit of news hit our blogging community hard. One of our own, Amanda Henson, was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, and we have been rallying around her to help raise funds, awareness and support. We created a support group called Amanda’s Army, and there are various ways to help. Here is a picture of her beautiful family.

The American Cancer Society estimates that this year alone 232,670 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed. THIS year. That’s some scary stuff.

Amanda is positive and thoroughly focused on beating this, and we want to help her any way we can.

The beautiful and talented Lisa Lehmann has created this gorgeous Open Hearts Necklace to honor Amanda. The proceeds ($20 from the sale of each necklace) are going to her family to help offset the cost of medical bills and income loss.

Will you consider placing an order? It’s such a beautiful way to honor all those who have fought and are fighting this dreadful disease.

Not a jewelry girl, but still want to help? Check out Amanda’s Army store at CafePress. All the proceeds benefit her family.

Want a more direct way to support her? Donate to Amanda’s YouCaring fund. 100% of this money goes directly to her family to use as they see fit to help with medical bills and income loss.

If you want to send her a note of encouragement or support, let me know, and I can provide you with an address so your mail gets to Amanda.

Then be sure you are up to date on your own mammograms and breast exams. I admit I am woefully negligent about this. I’m calling this week to get caught up.

Breast cancer is a war not just for those who are on the front lines, but for all women. Let’s fight back. Hard.
