Spring Weekend Outfit with Nordstrom: Twist Front Pullover

Hello, friends. Happy Monday! I’m partnering with Nordstrom today to style a spring weekend outfit that’s perfect for this in-between weather we’ve been having.

I’m obsessed with this twist front fleece pullover. It is sooooo soft and cozy, yet the 3/4 length sleeves make it look less like winter and more like spring. It comes in this navy heather as well as grey, black, and lavender. The second I saw it, I thought the blue would be perfect paired with white jeans and Converse, so that’s exactly how I styled it for this post.

I’m wearing the small, and it’s plenty long and roomy, so I’m going to say this top runs large and you’ll probably want to size down if you order it.

These are my go-to white jeans, and if you aren’t tired of seeing them yet, you probably will be! I wear them all year round, and more than ever during the spring and summer months. FYI, I recommend sizing up. I normally wear 29 in Paige, and these are a size 30.

For a less expensive pair of white jeans, check out these Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution ankle skinny jeans.

I know some of you will say you don’t wear white jeans because you’re afraid of getting them dirty. (They do wash, you know. Imagine a wink emoticon right here.) If you like this outfit and don’t want to wear white jeans, I suggest pairing your favorite blue jeans with the grey or black twist front top for the same casual weekend vibe. I think the blue and lavender look best with white pants, but of course, that’s just personal preference.

If you pair the blue or lavender top with blue jeans, make sure there is some contrast between top and the jeans, so go with a dark wash or a light, but not medium or they’ll be too close together. The grey top would also be cute with black jeans or any colored jeans you have in your closet.

Even for a casual weekend look, I always accessorize. For this outfit, I kept it simple with diamond studs, a long charm necklace (to break up the front of the top) and a stack of Alex and Ani wire bangles.

I am obsessed with this perforated tote. It’s less than $100 and so cute and on trend with the perforation and ring detail. It also comes with a removable zip pouch with smartphone pockets and optional crossbody strap, so it’s almost like a 2-in-1. It’s made of polyurethane so it’s very durable. It has plenty of room for all of the stuff you may want to carry, but it isn’t so large that you can’t use it as a handbag if you want. Best of all, it’s less than $100.

Finally, I recently ordered these Quay aviators. I love my Ray-Bans, but I wanted a more affordable option to recommend to you, and I thought these were fun. I particularly like how they compliment the blue top. They’re $60, but I think they look and feel way more expensive than that.

FYI, these are the socks I like to wear in my Converse, and I recommend sizing down a half size in the shoes.

I know it’s only Monday, but I am so ready for the weekend. Who’s with me!?!

  1. I had to laugh at your comment about the white jeans, Jo-Lynne! I am always surprised when women say that–but like my mom pointed out to me—they are easier to bleach because they are all white.
And what a great shirt. It’s like a half tuck, only you don’t have to do it yourself!! That’s brilliant!!

  2. Hi Jo Lynne, I love your blog! Question for you – I really like the look of white jeans, but every pair I try on the front pocket liners are very visible. What do you do about that? Nothing says frumpy like pockets showing through! I have tried sizing up but it doesn’t make any difference. Considering cutting them out. Any experience with that? Other ideas?

    1. These jeans do not have front pockets. Solves that! 🙂 If you want to alter the ones you have, you can probably achieve the same effect by cutting them out and then sewing them up so there is no hole.

  3. Awesome outfit Jo-Lynne, especially for those of you located in areas where it’s cooler. I really like the style of the top. I need to look for the liner socks at Kohl’s. Enjoy your week!

  4. love the outfit! That shirt is so cute but here in the Phoenix area it’s already going to be almost 90 this week. Maybe next fall…. Also, I recently purchased the Adidas Superstars with the black stripe – you styled them so many cute ways and I have already received compliments on my outfits after just a couple wears! Your blog is the best!

  5. Well I’ve only looked at that top about 50 times and now I’m just going to have to pull the trigger and buy it. I have another one of the fleecy ones by the same maker and man-o-man is it commmfffyyy!!! Hang on, the weekend will be here soon 😉

  6. I have a question about the perforated tote. Did it come with the zippered pouch? How big is the pouch? And, does the crossbody strap go on the pouch or the tote? The description on the site is a little unclear to me.

    Thanks!!!

    1. Hey Janie, yes, it comes with the zippered pouch, and it’s a nice size…. maybe 8×6 or something? It is not perforated, but it is the same material otherwise, and it is lined and has cellphone pockets. The crossbody strap goes on the pouch. I will make sure to get a picture of it the next time I get a chance to integrate it into an outfit.

  7. Jo-Lynne, that is a lovely, casual outfit. I’ve been unsure so far about these knotted tops, but it looks great on you.
I have a question about a similar perforated bag that you have featured on the blog before. The Avalon tote by Stella and Dot. It’s quite pricey for my budget, though I can get it a bit cheaper off someone I know. But I can’t look at it in person, I am having to buy having just seen pictures. So my question is – would you recommend it as a go-to summer tote? It would be my main summer bag, if I go for it, as my budget won’t allow more. But I’d rather have ONE bag I love, than two that are ‘meeeh’ if you know what I mean 🙂 Is it heavy or light? Did it ever bother you that it has no zipper to keep your valuables? Did you find it convenient or inconvenient to have a large bag with no compartments? I would also look to it as a bag to carry my kids’ stuff – snacks, change of clothes, etc… which I would keep in little zippable bags. Your views are appreciated…

    1. Hi Emma, the Avalon tote is beautiful, and I still have mine. (I’m so glad they still sell it so I can link to it.) I like to use it as a pool bag in the summer, and it does come with a small zipper pouch to throw your money and phone into. I stands alone nicely, which is something I’m picky about. I really love it, and it’s a great tote, but I don’t see it as a purse. I suppose it could be, but it seem more tote-like to me, perfect for the pool (yes, $$$ for a pool bag) or for times when you want to carry some extra stuff along like a few magazines or a change of clothes or something. Maybe that’s b/c there is no way to close it. It is also unlined, but that is more of a trend than ever right now, and maybe that wouldn’t bother me as much. I hope that helps you make up your mind.

      1. Hi Jo-Lynne
Thanks for your quick feedback. It’s very useful to hear that you see it more as a tote than a purse. As much as I covet it, I think I won’t get enough use out of it, as sadly, we don’t live near a beach, and we only go to the local outdoor pool every now and then, and that is a place where I would not want to leave my valuables within reach, or even leave my bag standing around! So I think I probably need to look for a purse that I wear when I’m out on my own, doing shopping, meeting friends, etc., and a big tote wouldn’t be quite right for that. Oh well, if any of that changes I may be able to find it second hand on Ebay!
I also need to find a stylish backpack I can carry when I’m at the playground or doing little day trips with my girls, big enough for drinks, snacks, change of clothes – but I have to be hands free so backpack a must! Beach tote will have to wait 🙂

        1. Yeah, honestly, that sounds like the best plan. Sorry! It is a really pretty bag, but I don’t use mine a ton.

As far as backpacks go… there are SO many cute ones right now. You know me, I want the Tory Burch! LOL!

  8. Actually, one more question about the Avalon tote, Jo-Lynne, I hope you don’t mind – does it stand up by itself? If something is inside it? Thank you

  9. I have that top in “lavender,” and wore it today, too! However , it is not really lavender, it is a light gray. Just an FYI for those considering ordering.

  10. Hi Jo-Lynne, thank you for all of your work in keeping us ladies fashion forward. I really appreciate all the effort you put into making your blog helpful and interesting to a variety of people. I do have a question, I need some new white jeans. I do not have a lot of designer jeans, but I do have a pair of DL Emma jeans that I like because I don’t have to keep pulling them up (can’t stand pants that slide down). Would you say DL Emma, Florence, or Paige Verdugo are the better white jean? I’m similar size as you. Thank you!!!!!

    1. Yes, the Emma are so comfortable. I love my Verdugo ankle white jeans best – but I don’t have the Emma in white. I did try them once, though, and they’re nice and soft and not see through. I dont think you can go wrong with either. I believe the verdugo are an inch shorter than emma, in case that matters to you.
