Spring Transitional Style with Lucky Brand

Spring Transitional Style with Lucky Brand: Collarless Utility Jacket with pink Drape Back Sweater, Jeans & Booties

I’m chuckling as I write this post on spring transitional style because it’s quite obvious that it was snowing when we took these pictures. Oh, the irony!

This is the time of year when I’m kind of done buying for winter and ready to start thinking about the next season, so I was excited when Lucky Brand asked me to style some of their classic pieces for early spring. Most of us still have some winter left to endure, so I’m looking for pieces I can wear now and continue to wear when the weather starts getting milder in a couple of months.

Sale Alert >> Select women’s styles at Lucky Brand are buy one, get one 50% off for two days only (today 1/31 and tomorrow 2/1) AND their sale styles are an additional 40-60% off till 2/8. The peasant top I’m wearing in this post is just $25!!! Shop with my code to receive $20 off your order!

As I browsed their website in preparation for this post, I was immediately drawn to this pink drape back top, especially considering that Valentine’s Day is in just a few weeks. Paul and I usually go out for a nice but casual dinner, and this is exactly the sort of thing I like to wear, although for a date night I would swap out the booties for a cute pair of heels. When it gets warmer, I can wear this top with white jeans and wedge sandals.

I love legging jeans, so I’m styling the Brooke legging jeans once again. Unfortunately the exact ones I’m wearing here are low inventory, but they have a lot of choices in this style. (I also have this black pair that I styled back in the fall.) They have a super snug fit, but there’s a lot of stretch in these jeans so they’re very comfortable. That said, I do suggest sizing down because they will stretch out a bit as you wear them. I bought my usual 29, and I think a 28 would be better.

I also picked up this raglan lace-up sweater. The lace-up look is trending right now, and I thought this one was super cute with the braided side detail. This top is made of a super soft, lightweight knit that is perfect for the in-between seasons.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small in both sweaters. I tend to run between sizes in Lucky Brand so I ordered both a small and medium in each to compare. I decided to keep the smalls, but the mediums work too; they just have a more relaxed fit.

I also picked up this collarless military jacket, and I love it. This is going to be on serious repeat this spring. I’ve never been a fan of collars, so the collarless style suits me perfectly. It’s got a great worn-in vibe, and it’s super lightweight and comfortable. I really like the grey for a change, although it does come in the more traditional olive as well.

This is the type of jacket I think of when I think of spring essentials. It’s the perfect throw-on-and-go piece that goes with so much and adds a fun, edgy vibe to casual outfits. It will definitely be a workhorse in my wardrobe this spring.

I accessorized with this gold pave necklace and beaded hoop earrings. I love both of these pieces and I’ve been wearing them practically nonstop since I got them. They play right into the classic Lucky Brand aesthetic — casual but feminine with a slightly vintage feel. They’re perfect for everyday wear.

Finally, my shoes! The booties I’m wearing are sold out now, but these Linnea booties with a 2-inch stacked heel are a great alternative, and I also love these open toe booties for milder weather. Lucky Brand shoes never disappoint. They’re made of quality materials, and they all have that cool casual vibe that the brand is known for. Every pair I have is incredibly comfortable and easy to wear.

Yesterday, Cyndi partnered with Lucky Brand to style a Valentine’s Day date night outfit. She looks adorable in a floral sweater with dark wash skinny jeans and a strappy heel. Be sure to check it out!

  1. Jo-Lynne,
Hello…love the post and outfits/shoes! I see you have two kids home sick today ????????. What did the dr say about your son yesterday and that the fever appeared after a week of being sick. I, too, am like you and get worried and nervous about these things. ????????
Love all your posts especially the one with the new spring color being blue. I ordered the lighting blue nail polish tbut it won’t arrive for another week. And I love that the neckerchiefs are coming back. We wore them all the time when I was younger (born in the 60’s). So cool! Thanks for all your hard work. I am 5’1″ and would live to find more places that sell petites at reasonable prices…besides ann Taylor/ann taylor loft/Macy’s. Hope your kids feel better!! ????????.

  2. Good luck with the sick kids, Jo-Lynne—it’s always something, huh?
The outfits are great transitional pieces though because even if it snowed more (ha ha) you could add a chambray shirt or turtleneck under both those tops for warmth!!
That jacket is going to be extremely versatile, I bet–look how perfect it is with both those outfits!!
    Keep warm!

  3. The jacket is very cute and I love the pink top. Those lace up tops always make me think of Robin Hood and his Band of Merry Men. 🙂

  4. I’m so sorry you now have two sick kids! What did the doctor say about your son?

I love both sweaters and the jacket! Weren’t you cold during the photo shoot! I would have been.

    Have a blessed day!

    1. Thanks, Ginger, I didn’t take him in yesterday. I was hoping it would just run its course, but now with both kids at home, I decided to rule out something bacterial so I’ve got an appt this afternoon.

      1. What did the doctor say about your kids today? It’s a warm & windy day here; warm enough to sit on the front porch barefooted.

        1. SHUT. That’s it. I’m moving to Georgia. It’s freeeeezing here. I wish it would SNOW already! I don’t mind the cold when it snows.

The doctor thinks it’s viral. My mommy intuition was correct, but I’m glad I took them in so I can have peace of mind. They’re pretty miserable, though, so I think they’ll be home another day or two. Thanks for asking. You’re so sweet.

      2. Bless their hearts! I hope the rest of you can remain healthy! Come on down to GA! We’d be happy to have you and the family.

    2. And omigosh, I’m ALWAYS cold in these photo shoots. That day actually wasn’t terrible, especially when I had the jacket on. And I was only out of the car for 3 minutes at a time. The worst is when we go downtown and park and walk a ways. I absolutely detest photo shoots this time of year, lol.

  5. I really like the military jacket in grey! I’m with you on collars and I think that’s why I haven’t found a jacket that I love…I’ll have to check this one out ????

  6. Love that jacket! I agree, it’s hard to find collarless and I don’t like big collars because they mess my hair up! Lol! Lucky Brand is becoming my go-to place for fantastic jackets. I think I’ve bought a jacket there each year for the last 3 years. They do such a nice job with jackets for the transition time between the seasons. Great fit, colors and styles. Now I’ll have to buy this one!

  7. Hi! My best friend turned me on to your blog and I love it. You are so cute! Thank you for sharing your life and your style.

Re: today’s post. Did I miss info on your hand bag? It’s cute and definitely my style!

    Kimberly

  8. Love these looks! I especially love the grey jacket for a change. I missed out on a grey one during the Anniversary Sale and really kicked myself! Lucky Brand does make fantastic jackets. I got one of my olive jackets from them last year, and the quality and detail are outstanding. My husband has a couple himself and absolutely loves them.
Sorry to hear about your kiddos, hope they are on the mend soon!

  9. SCORE!!!! I finally placed my Lucky Brand order today and here’s a run down of my loot: 3 pairs of shoes, 2 tops, 1 jacket and 6 necklaces!! The cost, you ask? $225. Yep. I figured I could return anything to my local store so no worries. Thank you, Jo-Lynne for your assistance in this matter of lifting my winter doldrums. 😉
