Rodan and Fields Soothe Regimen Review

I’ve been using Rodan + Fields for 4 or 5 months now, and I keep getting asked if I still like it and what I recommend. I do still like it very much, but I have changed the skincare regimen I’m using, so I decided it was time to write a Rodan and Fields Soothe Regimen Review.

A Rodan and Fields Soothe Regimen Review by Jo-Lynne Shane, 43-year-old style and beauty blogger and Rodan + Fields consultant.

First of all, for those who aren’t familiar, Rodan + Fields was started by the two dermatologists who created Proactiv® — the acne line of skincare products that is so successful. They founded Rodan + Fields in 2002 to bring dermatology-based skin treatment to everyone.

I started out using the Rodan + Fields Redefine Regimen along with their Night Cream last December. This regimen is geared for women wanting help with the appearance of fine lines and pores and loss of firmness.

I liked it, but I found it cumbersome to use the exfoliating Daily Cleansing Mask every time I wanted to wash my face, so I also ordered the Soothe regimen to try. As it turns out, I LOVE Soothe. It’s designed for sensitive skin and recommended for those who struggle with rosacea, as I do.

Why I love the Rodan + Fields Soothe Regimen

The Soothe products do exactly what they say — they soothe the skin, and they smell so fresh. My favorite is the 2nd step — the Sensitive Skin Treatment. (Each regimen is numbered so no matter how tired you are when you go to wash your face at night, you always know the proper order to apply them, ha!) It immediately neutralizes the appearance of redness, but it also works over time to relieve dryness and sensitivity. I definitely notice a reduction in redness when I use it, so I always make sure to use this product in the mornings.

So far, I’m thrilled with the Soothe regimen. I’ve been using it for about 3 months, and I just ordered another set. People keep telling me that I look especially radiant these days, and I truly believe this is why. I even noticed that my skin looked more moisturized and luminous when I started using this regimen.

I still have the Eye Cream, and I use it morning and night. I never skip the eye cream. I don’t have many fine lines around my eyes, and I’m hoping to keep it that way!

Rodan + Fields also has a variety of supplements and tools to enhance their skincare line. I just ordered the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste. You can use it instead of your cleanser, and it goes on with an oily base that I like. It leaves my skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom. I know it’s cliche, but that’s no exaggeration. I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week, and I absolutely love the results.

I love this probably more than any Rodan + Fields product I’ve tried so far. Even if I didn’t use one of their skincare regimens, I would want to have this Micro-Dermabrasion Paste in my arsenal.

They are coming out with new innovative products all the time that you can’t find anywhere else. For example, this a Micro-Exfoliating Roller is supposed to mimic the results of injectable fillers. That is the next product I want to order.

The Rodan + Fields REDEFINE AMP MD™ System includes the noninvasive AMP MD Micro-Exfoliating Roller and REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum. The AMP MD System utilizes micro-exfoliation roller technology for visibly advanced skin-firming benefits.

If you’re curious about which Rodan + Fields regimen may be right for you, you can use their nifty Solution Tool and get a personal consultation. It takes about 30 seconds, and they ask you a series of questions to help determine which regimen would work best for your specific skincare needs.

Of course, there may be one or two that would work for you. I’ve switched over to Soothe because I like the feel and scent and the visible results, but the Redefine regiment was a great place to start, and the anti-aging benefits are really important at my age, so I may switch back at some point.

At 43 years old, I decided it was time to pick a line of skincare products and be loyal to it so I can get the best results and keep my skin in the best shape possible as I age. And I figured if I’m going to be loyal, I might as well sell it and pay for my own stuff. So yes, I’m an independent consultant for Rodan + Fields, and my links in this post are all to my storefront.

In addition to buying the products a la carte, there is a Preferred Customer program where you save 10% on all of your orders, and you get your favorite regimen automatically delivered every 2 months so you never run out. It’s a great deal if you plan to be a loyal customer. You can learn more about PC Perks here.

If you use Rodan + Fields or have used it in the past, I’d love to hear about your experience! And if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below, or email me anytime. (Click on the CONTACT link at the top of my blog!) I’m always happy to help.

  1. Thanks for posting your regimen. I am nearing 50 and would also like to find a sustainable and effective routine for keeping the wrinkles and age spots at bay. Embarrassed to say that up until recently, my skincare regimen consisted of washing and maybe a moisturizer, and spotty SPF usage. I am trying to up my game now. Do you use any retinol/retinoid products? I heard those were good for aging skin.

    1. Yes, retinol is huge these days. The REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum has it: https://jshane.myrandf.com/Shop/Product/AASR060

“Rejuvenate your skin while you sleep. REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum contains a proprietary blend of skin-firming, collagen-boosting peptides and retinol to improve skin texture and brighten skin. Our time-release technology keeps this anti-aging serum working all night long to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pores for firmer, younger-looking skin.”

  2. Beauty product reviews are always fun to read. Thanks for sharing. I’ve never heard of the brand before. Sounds great-especially the comments on how good your skin has been looking lately. xx-S

  3. I’ve been using the Redefine products for about 2 years now and have definitely seen a difference. I agree that the face wash is cumbersome at night (waiting for the mask to dry) but the results are great. The night cream and eye cream are wonderful. Might try some of their other products you recommended too!:)

  4. I am a terrible skin care customer….I’m loyal to a fault with friends, but not companies.
For some strange reason, I always feel like I want to try a different brand after I finish one, yet I’m sure my face would be happy with consistency?
I’ll have to keep this brand on my list to try—especially the eye cream!!

    1. I agree with you! I always feel like “my face looks good, but maybe by using THESE products it would look better.” And it usually doesn’t. I am on my second reorder of Redefine, and I really like it. I’ve also been using the roller and renewing night serum. I actually only use the cleansing mask in the morning, and I like my system. I think it’s working for me. Next up is Microderm Abrasion paste (unless I change because I found the newest great thing…buy why?? I’m getting good results!)

    1. Hey Vicki, that’s hard to say. It really is meant to work together, and I’ve only used it all together, so I can’t say for sure how each part works independently, but I believe it is the Hydrating Lotion (step 2) that I like best. It is the one with the RFp3 peptide technology that is supposed to help heal the visible signs of dry, irritated, sensitive skin. https://jshane.myrandf.com/Shop/Product/SOTT050

  5. Sorry to be off topic, but could you tell me the name of your nail polish, thank you so much!!

  6. They sound great! Just wondering though, do you know if they are tested on animals? (No judgement here!)

  7. Thanks for this! I have a friend who is repping for them and she’s a PA in a derm practice, so I was hoping it was a good product. At 50, I feel like it’s time to up my game as well and this helps me make that decision.

  8. I tried the redefine line and it was horrible. I made me have huge, horrible breakouts. I was so bummed because I really wanted it to work for me. Glad it is working out for you.

  9. You know, I had been thinking how pretty your complexion has been and wondering if there was another little Shane on the way. You are glowing these days. Now I know your secret and I am so relieved to know I don’t have to get pregnant to replicate it! Thank you for this review. Going now to try the solution tool and find out how I can get the Jo-Lynne radiant complexion for myself.

  10. Thank you for this post! This is excellent information. I use the Rodan + Fields Redefine line and they are AMAZING!! Really has made me fall in love with my skin again. Best decision I have ever made.

  11. Great product but I cound’t handle the multiple steps involved and started using a product called Nerium. I love it! Been using a year and half now and my skin just keeps getting better. Now I just cleanse and apply my Nerium night treatment.

    1. Rose!  If you haven’t gotten a reply yet, I just stumbled upon this. It is Soothe!   It’s amazing. If you need any help I would love to help you ????

  12. I’m 62 and my skin was looking great, but I was starting to notice fine lines around my mouth and jaw. I bought the REDEFINE line and started using it. Like you, I got tired of the daily mask, but did it for 2 months before trailing off to twice a week. NOW I have TONS of lines around my mouth. It’s awful. I’m not sure which part of the regimen is causing it, or even if the R&F has anything to do with it, as opposed to the normal aging process. So I’m not continuing with it, but might consider giving SOOTHE a try.

  13. I dfound your comments helpful….now I nneed to know what you recommend for acne SCARS…My daughter has cystic acne growing up and now she is turning 30 and getting married next yeat…thank you for your time.

  14. You have rosacea and use the microdermabrasion? I’ve always been told to avoid it. My friends sell R+F but I’ve been hesitant to order because nothing ever works.
