Old Navy Relaxed Split Hem Printed Top #FashionFriday

Hello, Friends! Would you believe, today is my 10th “Blogiversary”??? I cannot BELIEVE I’ve been writing in this space for 10 years.

Musings_Header

I started this blog on a whim, and I honestly thought I would write here for a few months, and it would soon fizzle out and become forgotten like so many of my diaries over the years. What is truly surreal is how my little hobby has turned into a full time job that I love.

The opportunities that have come from this space would have defied my imagination 10 years ago — an advertorial for Olay in Cosmopolitan Magazine; meeting executives from brands like Target, Chick-Fil-A, CVS and Disney World; attending swanky celebrity events; appearing on a national TV show; traveling to places like Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos and Laguna Beach; creating my own gluten-free cookbook . . . I will stop there, or this will be an entire post of its own.

roar-at-sunset

I feel like I should have some sort of grand fanfare, a new blog design, a huge giveaway, something to share by way of celebration, but I’ve got nuttin’. It’s just another ordinary day with me in my pajamas behind this computer screen. But I’m here, 10 years, 4,388 posts, and 81,946 comments later.

Maybe it’s appropriate that there’s not much fanfare since the bulk of what I do is sit here at my desk in my pajamas, waxing eloquent about ordinary things.

And truly, all of those incredible experiences dull in comparison to the community of friends I’ve cultivated here on the World Wide Web.

Every time I get a comment from someone across the globe, I am in awe of how small the world has become in the last 10 years. Without your comments and participation, this blog would have fizzled and died many  years ago. I thrive on the comments, the interactions, the emails, and the conversations that develop from my posts. Thank you all for being here.

So onto the important things!

27 Days of Spring Fashion: Day 20

It’s Day 20 of 27 Days of Spring Fashion as well as Fashion Friday!

Every spring, I order a bunch of tops from Old Navy. I usually end up returning a lot of them, but I always find a few gems. I love Old Navy’s summer tops because they have cute styles and they’re inexpensive. They’re great for hanging out at home, summer vacations, and going to the pool with the kids. I don’t need to dress up much in the summertime, but I like to look cute.

I placed an Old Navy order last week, and when my box came, I eagerly went through it and tried everything on. I ended up keeping two of the tops I ordered, and this Relaxed Split Hem Printed Top is one of them.

Loving this easy breezy relaxed split hem printed top from @oldnavy this spring! Throw it on with white jeans and your favorite neutral sandals for an easy daytime look.

It’s only $14, and I love the fit and feel. I love sleeveless tops, but they’re not always modest. This one fits that bill, although I wish the armholes weren’t QUITE so low. The fabric feels more expensive than it is, and it drapes nicely. I like how it’s relaxed but not voluminous. It seemed like the obvious choice to pair it with white jeans.

These are Joe’s Jeans The Icon Skinny Ankle Jeans in Marlie. Joe’s used to be my favorite brand of premium denim. They were the first ones I ever tried, but over the years, I have found myself gravitating to DL1961, Paige, and AG.

I ordered these during the Bloomingdale’s Denim Days Event because I’ve been on the lookout for something in an ankle-length skinny style that is thick enough to hide everything we want to hide (ahem) and not distressed, because I know that many of you are looking for that exact thing. I wanted to try these to see if they’re a pair I could recommend. I think many of you would like them, although personally, I’m not loving how wide they are at the ankle.

These are thicker than my other white jeans and a bit stiffer as well. I do prefer the softer feel of the AG and the DL1961 Emma (the DL1961 Florence is stiffer, for some reason) but the thicker, stiffer jeans aren’t as see-through so it’s a trade-off.

Here’s a back view. They are tight, but they’re supposed to be, and the pocket placement is perfect. They did loosen up some as I wore them. I recall that Joe’s stretch out quite a bit as you wear them, whereas DL1961 do not.

Back to the tank top. This is a rayon material, so you have to wash it on cold and lay it flat to dry. I’m wearing a medium.

They show it with a front-tuck on the Old Navy website, but I prefer to let it hang naturally becasue it’s the perfect length.

The shoes are my Tory Burch Miller Sandals. I have them in white, and I love them so much that I decided to add the Sand Patent color this year. They don’t have any support, obviously, but otherwise they’re very comfortable, and they go with about everything.

I carried my tan bucket bag. I love how it goes with the sandals.

White Jeans for Spring

I kept the accessories simple — my diamond earrings, the Silpada Duomo Necklace, and a few Alex and Ani bangles.

LOVING this relaxed split hem printed top from Old Navy!

I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this outfit this spring and summer.

  1. Happy Blog-A-Versary 🙂 I love Joe’s Jeans they are my favorite – I need that white pair they look great on you. Old Navy has been my go to place the last few months – I seriously think I purchased every dress they had for fall/winter.

  2. Congrats on your 10 years!!
Love today’s outfit too. I tend to grab several tops from Old Navy every spring myself. I just really have great luck with their tees and tanks, so why spend more, right?

  3. I too am still in my PJ’s, but now hopping up to go to work. Congrats on the anniversary!!! Since I am only at 6 months, my mouth is gaping open at your accomplishment. Thanks so much for your inspiration, and how you have paved the way for newbies like myself.

  4. Happy 10 Year Blogging Anniversary, JoLynne! What an impressive achievement! It was so fun to read through some of your highlights and accomplishments. It’s been fun following you on Snapchat recently and seeing just how perfectly your voice and personality come through in your blog posts and what a fun, down-to-earth person you are.

  5. Congratulations! Sticking with a blog for 10 years is a huge milestone. I’ve heard most people who start quit before a year is up so Kudos to you!!!

What is the color of your toe polish? I love the neutral color. I should have worn something like that for my photoshoot yesterday. I wore mostly shoes that covered my toes so it wouldn’t be so obvious I wore the same bright pinky coral polish in all the shots! LOL!!

  6. 10 Years! Good for you! Congratulations! Here’s to another 10 years of great tips, advice, style and fun! Thanks for all your work – much appreciated!!

  7. Happy anniversary! What a ride it’s been for you! I love the top and agree with you about the jeans being a little too wide at the bottom. BUT they still look nice on you.

  8. Happy Blogiversary! 10 years!! I think I have been reading since close to the beginning since I recall that blog header. Here’s to many more years!

    1. I should have had a giveaway prize for anyone who remembers that header! HAHA! Thanks for sticking around through all the evolutions of this blog. There have been many. xoxo

  9. I know I haven’t been reading for 10 years, but I’m always surprised how long it’s been if I go look up an older post and glance at the date. I’m surprised to hear you say the DL1961 Florence is stiffer than the Emma, I’ve only tried on the Florence but when I tried them I thought they practically felt like pajamas lol. One day I’ll actually make it to Nordstrom to try a bunch on.

  10. Congratulations on 10 years of Blogging Jo-Lynne! That calls for a family celebration of some sort. But, this being Good Friday is even more important & life altering for sure.

I really like the ON top! I wonder if wearing a dark colored bra would work even better since the armholes are on the larger side.

    Have a blessed day!

  11. Aww congratulations on 10 years! That’s incredible! Not to mention your new outfit is completely fabulous ????

  12. Congratulations on 10 years! You look great and I love your style. So glad I found your blog! Also, thank you for sharing your faith. It is encouraging to me and I’m sure to many others. It especially touched my heart today as I lost a dear sister yesterday and knowing Jesus is what is getting me through this. I appreciate all you do and look forward to reading your email/blog every day. Happy Easter!

  13. A cute and simple outfit! Old Navy really has some cute stuff, even though it’s hit and miss for me when I shop there.

Here’s to another 10 years???? Thank you for keeping us inspired!!

  14. Happy 10th, congratulations!
That sleeveless top is very cute and I love the print. I never think of Old Navy but I guess I should:-) The whole outfit looks so put together with great accessories, so nice. I appreciate all the tips on jeans! I think I might like the slightly wider ankles.

  15. What an accomplishment Jo-Lynne—10 years!! I love the saying at the top (the musings of a housewife)—was this your banner? I think it’s great to hear you return things you buy—someone asked me the other day how I can shop online—and I think that returning what doesn’t work is the key. I mean, you don’t buy everything you take in the fitting room, right? jodie

  18. Congrats on ten years of blogging. I’ve been following at least eight or so of those years and I still read most every post. Right now I’m starting week two of the Fast Metabolism diet you introduced us to a few weeks ago and I’ve lost 7 pounds! Thanks for the info. And thanks for a beautiful, tasteful and interesting blog. You know I’m a fan!????????

    1. I’ve been reading the book, and I really want to start that diet too. I need a boost! Thanks so much for your faithful readership and your kind and encouraging comments! xo

  19. Woah! 10 years! A whole decade. That’s a lot in blogging time. Huge congratulations! 🙂

For some reason I find summer dressing a whole lot easier than winter dressing. And yes, cute, interesting, fancy tops are a must for me too.

And Happy Easter to you and Family 🙂

    Blessings to you & yours!

  22. Congrats on your anniversary!! I have also discovered Old Navy can be good for a few tops and yoga items. Prices are great.

I enjoy, always, hearing you mention the Lord in your post. Too many people today are so afraid of offending I fear we may offend the Lord at times. Today I GOOD Friday…the day God suffered so much we could be free.

  23. I love this outfit! The top is really cute, and is a great color on you. I love white jeans, and I just bought a new pair. You inspired me to look at premium denim. You are so right about the difference it makes. They are definitely worth the price.

  25. Happy 10 years. I can’t remember how I came across your blog, it was about a year ago. I read it daily now – usually during a spare few minutes that my two baby girls will allow-and it’s a blissful escape to style, fun, chat, all with a nice dose of humour-puts me I. A good mood. Thank you so much for your hard work and keep going. ????
