New Year’s Eve Party Outfit with Lucky Brand

If there’s one occasion all year long that I can justify getting dressed up for, it’s New Year’s Eve. Even if I’m only attending a casual home party with friends for NYE, I like to wear a New Year’s Eve party outfit that’s a little extra special.

My favorite way to do extra special is to dress up a great pair of jeans with heels and a sparkly top, and today I’m teaming up with Lucky Brand to share a fun New Year’s Eve out-on-the-town look.

New Year's Eve Party Outfit

This outfit pretty much meets all of my criteria. I like how it’s dressed-up without being dressy. The raw hem on the jeans gives the look a bit of toughness, and the sequins on the top make it festive.

I ordered this embellished sleeveless top in both a small and a medium, and I discovered that I’m in between sizes, so I’m wearing the medium. I like how it’s figure flattering without being body-con so you can be comfortable all night long and eat whatever you like. (And all the ladies said, amen!)

These high rise skinnies have a 10″ rise, so they hold everything in, and they’re also flattering to the rear view. They have distressed detailing in places without any gaping holes, so you get that rugged look without rips and tears, in case you don’t care for that look. If you really wanted to go all out, you could pair this top with their leather legging jeans.

I have a couple pairs of Lucky Brand boots, but I’ve never had any of their heels so I was excited to try them. These suede pumps with their cut-out sides, ankle strap, and a stacked stiletto heel are the perfect blend of sophisticated and edgy. I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of these. I feel like they’re more modern than a classic pump, so they’re perfect for more casual outfits when you still want the benefit of a stiletto.

Finally, I accessorized with their mother of pearl layer bracelet, and for added bling, I wore my tribal earrings. They’re no longer available, but I think these floral drop earrings  or the marcasite fringe earrings would work nicely with this outfit.

If it’s not too terribly cold out, I’d throw on a leather jacket to complete this look, and if it’s a frigid night, I’d just bundle up in my favorite puffer coat and check it when I get where I’m going. Another festive option would be a velvet blazer.

I feel like you could wear this outfit pretty much anywhere you may be planning to go on New Year’s Eve because it’s the perfect combination of comfortable and fancy.

Right now Lucky Brand is having an amazing sale — up to 75% off sale styles, so be sure to check those out. Also, click this link to get $20 off your purchase at Luckybrand.com!

  1. I look forward to reading your blog every day. I have learned a lot of fashion tips from you. Keep up the great work! I also love this outfit and the shirt is my favorite!

  2. You really nailed an edgy NYE outfit! This would look great with the options you mentioned like the velvet blazer or leather jacket. Wow! Everything is so affordable too! Makes me wish I was going out somewhere. Hope your hubby takes you somewhere to show you off! Happy early New Year!

  3. Hi Jo-Lynne! I really like this outfit for the reasons you mentioned. It’s hard to believe that it is almost Christmas Day! Our meal will not be on the smaller side since it will be just Larry & me, and the chemo impacts his appetite, so he isn’t eating too much at any one setting.

Our son, DIL, and 17 year old granddaughter are coming down tomorrow to visit and have Christmas. They all love baked spaghetti, Texas Toast, and 7Up pound cake, so that’s what we’re having. All we’ll have to do is put the spaghetti and bread in the oven to heat, so more visiting can be done.

I hope you had a good run! It is in the 40’s here this morning and is going to be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s for Christmas. No matter the temp, we are still celebrating the reason for the season.

    Have a blessed day!

  4. If I could only walk in those heels! Cute outfit. Here’s my question (and I’m a newer follower so if you addressed it previously please just point me in that direction): How do you keep your clothes and shoes organized? Unfortunately I do NOT have lots of closet space and I tend to gravitate to the same items. As a fellow Pennsylvanian, I have distinct seasonal clothes. Do you rotate your warm/cold weather clothes out? And how to deal with accessories too. I was thinking of hanging my statement necklaces on the wall like art. Thanks!

  5. Loving this look!
The question I have is about fashion blogging specifically. I follow your blog, along with a few others (Hi, Sugarplum, Small Things, Putting me together, Grace & Beauty) and you all feature many of the same items from Nordstrom and Loft. Do the stores offer bloggers like you a curated selection of items to look over and decide which to style for your readers or do you just go in and shop their departments like we would?
Headed up to your neck of the woods in PA to visit family for the holiday….hope you have a wonderful Christmas with yours!

  6. LOVE IT!!! Love the whole outfit , head to toe! Perfect for a house party or out to dinner etc. If I had somewhere to go I’d get it! LOL

  7. Wow, I LOVE this! It is so perfect for NYE. I would’ve never guessed it’s LB though. Some LB tops I can spot and just know, but this one is much more unique. Gorgeous!

  8. I really enjoy and look forward to your blog everyday. I realize all the hard work you do and really appreciate all of your effort you put into this blog. I do have a fashion question. I have purchased a pair of Jimmy Choo pointed toe nude heels patent leather. ( a real splurge for me and am very proud of them) Now I don’t know what to wear them with. I don’t really wear a lot of dresses but occasionally I will.
Could you show some photos shoots with a nude pointed toe leather heel? Or maybe some suggestions how to wear them..
Thank you very much, and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY !

  9. I don’t have any questions but I did want to take this opportunity to tell you that your personal take on this blog makes it feel like we’re saying “hello” to a friend every morning. Thank you for taking the extra time to tell us a bit of what’s going on in your life and describing the clothes and even why you put them together.
I like that your outfit is festive but still a little edgy and sexy. Perfect for a more casual NYE.

  10. Hi Jolynne! My first question is, how do you keep your figure? I know you workout/run, but just what do you eat? Do you follow Paleo eating or only gluten-free? Also, I’m 5’3″ and 135 lbs and I think I pretty much have the same shape as you, which is why your blog is so very helpful! But as I’m now 59 (!!) I was wondering if that is too old to wear skinny jeans?
Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  11. Gorgeous outfit and well put together as usual. Well done! Questions: Eye makeup tutorial from this look (you do a great smokey eye). Do you like to read? If so, what do you read? How do you stay connected to the women in your life? Mom, friends, sister, daughter, etc. What do you consider your best asset? New Year Resolutions? Keep up the great work. Absolutely love your blog!

  12. My sons (13 & 8) & I just made the gingerbread cookies! They’re delicious!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe ???? Merry Christmas from Texas!

  13. Great outfit! I really enjoy your blog! My question is how many pairs of jeans do you have vs. how many do you think are really necessary? In your opinion what are the key jean styles right now? Thanks!

  14. I usually never comment
But you hv done a fabulous job these
    Past months!
Great info, variety, beautiful pics and
I also love how you include your
    Family!
    Merry Christmas!
I’m looking for some of your exercise
    Clothes under my tree!

  15. Hi Jolynne! I’m writing from afar, Sydney, Australia to be exact. I’ve never posted a reply but I wanted to say how much I love your posts. I haven’t found anything as good here, so I just save yours as of course now the weather is hot here. But everything is so wearable and you can never put too many of your daily uniform style posts with jeans and tops. Absolutely love all those looks and just my style! Hope you and your family have a great Christmas. ????

  16. Okay, wow!! LOVE this entire outfit! I love your blog, and I enjoy your work with Cyndi as well.

I am curious about your diet: where you go for recipes, favorite brands at the store, ratio of foods on your plate, etc.

I would also like to know what you like to run in: brands, tops, leggings/capris, jackets vs. vests. And if you did a post on this already, maybe I just need to look back and find it.

In the spring I would like to see posts about new workout gear, jewelry and nail trends. Are bootcut jeans ever going to come back in? I still wear mine from time to time and they are an updated pair. And I can’t wait until this boxy/flowy top trend takes a hike! So, anytime you find tops that are more fitted with darts and shape, please let me know!

Thanks for all you do. Merry Christmas!
