My Current Wish List

Greetings on this icy Tuesday morning! Our schools have another 2-hour delay today so I’m getting a slow start this morning. How are you faring so far?

Today I decided to go window shopping and take you along. I haven’t done a post like this in a while, but I thought you might like to see what I’m shopping for right now. If we ever defrost around here, I’ll head to the mall for a Shop With Me post, but for now, this will have to do!

P.S. I’m open to suggestions for the rest of the week! I do want to bring Fight The Frump back, but I haven’t come up with a good FTF topic to address. I can do more 5 Favorites… anyone got requests for that? And let’s see, what other topics are always popular? Let me know what you want to see!

Meanwhile, here’s what’s on my wish list at the moment.

My Current Wish List

white loafers Sam Edelman Loraine

#1. white loafers // I think I’m going to bypass the white booties trend this year, although I’ve been drooling over these for weeks. They’re more than I want to spend on what may be a passing trend, so I’ll keep looking and maybe try a pair next year.

I do want white loafers for spring, however, so I’m trying to decide which ones to try. I love how Helena pairs them with shades of grey and blush pink in this chic outfit. Hers are well out of my price range, but I’m looking at this Sam Edelman pair, and Free People has an under $100 version that is cute too.

I’m actually debating ordering my beloved Mika Mules in the white leather because I already know I love them and can walk in them. My no duplicates rule doesn’t extend to shoes, although I still would rather have a different style than what I already have in my closet if at all possible, so I ordered the Sam Edelmans to see how they look and feel on.

#2. leopard mules // Because I don’t have enough leopard shoes already. Ha! But seriously, how fun are these leopard mules? If I thought for a second I could keep them on my feet, I’d order them. They would be so cute with skinny jeans and black or blush tops this spring. I’m going to keep my eye out for something that looks more walkable.

Franco Sarto Fancy Bootie

#3. sock booties // I have my eye on these booties or something similar because they pair well with the cropped straight jeans that are trending (see below.) I just can’t decide between the grey and the black.

Madewell Surplus Jacket

#4. Madewell Surplus Jacket // I need another utility jacket like I need a hole in the head, but this one is really calling my name for some reason. Maybe it’s just because it makes me think spring might be around the corner somewhere… I know, dream on!

Talbots Red Trench

#5. colorful trench // Speaking of spring, I have a classic grey trench that I like a lot, and I have a bright pink one that is fun but sometimes it’s a little much, so I’m thinking this red trench at Talbots would be a classy addition to my spring coat wardrobe.

I’ve really been trying to upgrade my outerwear lately. I’ve always seen coats as more of a necessary evil than a great fashion accessory, but now I’m realizing that I was seriously missing out! Having a couple of pretty spring jackets to rotate may be the way to survive March and April — two of the most fickle months of the year in these parts.

I’m also really drawn to these red driving moccasins, but they don’t get the best review. Of course, it’s only one so who knows… does anyone have these?

#6. Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion // I’ve been wanting to try this since Kelly listed it among her Favorite Things, so today I ordered it. I’ll let you know how I like it!

#7. Tweed Button Tab Skirt // I actually already ordered this but I haven’t tried it on yet. I have high hopes that I can figure out a way to style it because I think it’s super cute. Skirts are hard, though, and I’m too short-waisted to tuck in my top, so we’ll see what I can come up with.

Levis 501 Skinny Jeans

#8. Levi’s 501 Skinny Jeans // Levi’s is making some sort of heroic comeback because every fashion blogger seems to be wearing them. I keep scratching my head because while Levi’s are always something of a classic, they haven’t exactly been cutting edge for a very long time, but somehow they’ve done it. Someone in their marketing department should get a serious end of year bonus, that’s all I’m sayin’.

I want to try some of the straight cropped denim styles with ankle boots and loafers, and this pair of jeans in particular caught my eye. Unfortunately they don’t have my size. Boo to the hoo. I’m going to keep looking. Oooh, here’s another option. In fact, I just ordered those. I’ll keep you posted!

LOFT V-Neck Tunic

#9. LOFT Refined V-Neck Tunic Sweater // Somehow this didn’t get into my graphic. Oooops! I’m interested to see how this tunic looks on. I love a good v-neck, and this one seems like it would be flattering. I’m not always a fan of tunics, but if they’re slenderizing, they can be cute with jeans or leggings. The side slits are always helpful, and this one has that feature.

I’m waiting for this to go on sale, and then I’ll order it. Or better yet, I’ll head over to the mall one day and do a LOFT try-on sesh and look for this. I’m liking the grey or navy in particular, but the yellow is kind of fun for a change.

  1. I am staying away from shopping in the new year!! I am trying to wear what is in my closet and want to just be thankful for what I have and resist the end-of-the-year clearance sales. So far so good and while wearing what I have, I have already identified a couple of pieces that just don’t work for me and I was able to donate them . I’d like to make my way through all of my items but we shall see!!

Curious to hear your thoughts about the UD primer. I have it but think next time I will try the one for oily skin that they make because I am still getting caking in the crease 🙁

  2. I would love to know what other blogs you like to read, and where you go when you’re looking for inspiration. We all have our morning routines, like reading email, scrolling through social media and reading favorite blogs. I always find it interesting to hear what my favorite bloggers read themselves. Thanks!

  3. I’m actually stalking the AG Legging jeans. There was a pair this morning on Nordstrom’s website for 30% off (and I loved the wash). I put it in my cart and headed to school. By the time I got to school (20 min away), they were sold out in my size. I actually wasn’t sure anyway if that was the right size. The website says to size up if you’re between sizes, and only the lower size was available but I was going to give it a shot. I checked out some of the Levi’s on Zappos site, but I don’t think I want thick denim, which the reviews mentioned.

  4. Love the list! I like the driving shoes, but for some reason I feel like the sole should wrap the heel from the bottom, in the sense of true driving shoes (protect the leather from the floor abrasion). I think it adds a litte something visually too. For example, look at a Tod’s driving shoe.

Thanks again for the window shopping excursion! I too find it difficult to get out and shop, especially in bitter weather.

    1. Haha, I was looking at Tods but I didn’t link to them b/c they’re so spendy. I’m not sure I’m ready to put that much $$ down on them but I can see wearing them often and for many years. I guess I’ll stalk them and see if they ever go on sale. They’d be a better longterm investment than those white Joie boots. 🙂

  5. I have the tweed skirt. I actually wore it to work yesterday with tights and a black sweater. It is really cute!

      1. Good question. 🙂 With this skirt, I would not tuck. The skirt is on the shorter side and has a bit of a A-line although not a true A-line. I wore a black sweater that hits right at the top of my hip bones. It’s a workhorse sweater that I got from Ann Taylor something like 10 or more years ago and wear exclusively with skirts.

Here is my rule with tucking with skirt (an keep in mind that I wear skirts 2 to 3 days per week and sometimes more in the summer). With a true pencil skirt that hits at or just above the knee, I always tuck. I find that pencil skirts can be paired with a great blouse and
I like the feminine, polished look of a pencil skirt with a tucked in blouse. I also think that having a skirt on a bit of the longer side with a tucked in top creates a great line. Even though I am short waisted, there is something really intentional about the look with the tucked in top. With shorter skirts with a slight A-line (like the one in the post), I tend to wear a sweater that does not get tucked. I have a few pencil skirts that are on the shorter side and I could go either way with them – I tend to wear a blouse and tuck it in during the warmer months and a sweater that does not need to be tucked in during the winter months. I could go on and on about how to wear skirts as a #shortwaistedcurvy because I wear them so often but I will spare you. HA!

        Have a great day!

        1. Don’t stop. That is super helpful. See, 10 years ago, all sweaters were the right length for wearing with skirts! I wore them all the time back then. Wish I’d saved a few b/c that length seems impossible to find now. I like a pencil, not a fan of A-line, so this may not work for me.

Still don’t think I can tuck, tho. While we are both SWC, you are way thinner than I am. 😉 Maybe I’ll ask Kelly what she recommends. I would really enjoy wearing skirts again!

      2. I saw a cute pencil skirt and shorter sweater look in a recent Boden catalog. Boden can be expensive, but they do have sales. The look was really cute.

  6. Maybe it would be boring to others, but I would be really interested in a behind the scenes look at a photo shoot. I know you’ve mentioned a few things about your photo shoots and you’re always super honest about everything that goes into making an outfit post, so perhaps you feel like you’ve already covered that material. I just have a lot of questions.
Those red moccasins were my fave from the wish list…red shoes make my heart beat a little faster lol….a moccasin would be a very practical way to wear that color…my red pumps really aren’t conducive to chasing little children around all day ????

  7. I just can’t commit to white shoes unless they’re sandals or sneakers. I always hear my Dads voice in my head saying “hey, ice cream!”  … he grew up with the ice cream truck and driver dressed all in white!!  Love the red trench…have you explored Hobbs of London trenches yet?  Bloodies sells them and each spring they come out with some color pops in their trench coats. They’re a bit pricey but in caliber with Burberry in style and quality. I invested in a navy one last year and have not regretted!!  Fun post…I always love a wishlist!!

    1. Hey ice cream… that is so funny!

Okay now I must investigate Hobbs of London … a Burberry trench would be amazing, but they’re all so $$$. I have the one quilted jacket that I love, but it’s Burberry Britt and not as high as most of the trenches.

  8. I think I’ll be passing on the white shoes completely…but never say never, right. Lol
I too am trying to avoid any new purchases for at least 30 Days and trying to wear what I have but I didn’t included shoes. I had some Michael Kors leopard mules from Macy’s in my cart over the holidays, that were on sale (you might check those out) but I never ordered them and instead found some Sam Edelman Leopard flats at my favorite resale shop. I had so been wanting to try them and love the cushion insole and now I’m in love and willing to invest in some “new ones”. My daughter is totally against wearing used shoes and gives me a hard time about it, but when I told her what I paid for them and what they cost new, she took a second look at them on my feet and said nice find Mom! Plus I wear no show footies with them ????

  9. The Urban Decay primer is the one that works for me!  ‘LOVE it!  My eyeshadow looks great from the time I put it on in the morning until I take it off at night. No more creases in the shadow!

  10. Happy New Year Jo-Lynne! Love your blog! I agree with Debbie about the eye glasses and hair. I can’t wear contacts so I have to wear glasses. Eye glasses can be a fashion accessory right? :0) Can you give us a sneak peek for spring trends this year? I can’t wait for spring! I live in Northeast TN so thankfully we have been spared all the snow that the north has been getting but it has been extremely cold here. I’m not a fan of winter.

  11. Any recommendations on belts? I am short waisted so I believe I need a curved belt that sits down on the hip but haven’t found one yet. Thanks!

    1. I don’t wear belts – mainly b/c I don’t tuck very often. If I do wear a belt, I do a front-tuck. I haven’t bought a belt recently so not sure what to recommend, but I’d start at Nordstrom (shocker… ha!) and then maybe check LOFT.

  12. I love this post! I am dying to get the Madewell jacket- it’s in my cart, but I’m on a no-spend until Feb 1. A challenge I’m doing with some friends. White shoes? I don’t think I can ever cross that line– but I wear a size 10 so they would make me feel self-conscious. This fall I discovered Levis 721 Highrise. I’ve never worn Levis, but I was looking for a less spendy pair of deconstructed jeans so I tried these on a whim. I liked them so much I bought the light deconstructed ones in 2 lengths. They don’t stretch out or get baggy and I like the wash. (I discovered a patch available online to iron on behind holes that are just too . . . holey.) I also have the black pair.

  13. I look forward to your posts every morning!  But I havent received them the since Thurs. I tried to sign up again but it said my email was already on file. Any clue what happened?  Cindy

  14. So far I hadn’t been a big fan of the white booties or loafers but the way Helena styled them, I think I’m coming around! Plus her de-cluttering post is timely because that’s what I’m doing this week!  I’d love to see more Fight the Frump series, especially this time of year when it’s easy to hybernate under heavy, bulky clothing. Be blessed!

    1. PS: an idea I just had for a future post or series –
Timeless Treasures: Those articles of clothing, jewelry and accessories; classic pieces that never go out of style, such as stud pearl earrings.

  15. I bought the Michael Kors leopard mules this fall. I love them. They are really cute on. I haven’t had any issues with walking in them.

  16. We must think a like. I have the green jacket and also in grey. Love.
I bought a red coat last year maybe I’ll get to wear this year.
I will pass on white shoes. Never for me.
The red moccasins are great. I hv in different colors and know you will love having. Never go out of style. Comfy too.
I’m like you on leopard shoes. Love. B

  17. I love those Levi taper jeans.  I have been toying with that style (a wider leg cropped jean), but haven’t bitten the bullet on it yet.  Given that they are 100% cotton, do you think they will shrink at all?  I assume they won’t stretch out like jeans with stretch, but maybe that’s wrong.  If you buy those, I would love to see some ideas for tops.  And also belts, as someone else mentioned.  I’ve been wearing skinny pants with larger tops for a while now, and I’m having a hard time remembering how I ever wore things tucked in.  I just got some wider legged cropped pants for work, and I like them (they are a kooky pattern, so unusual for me), so I need to get back into that.  Oh, I also like those white loafers!  I wasn’t sure I would like them on, but the outfit you showed was very cute.

  18. Good morning!
I would love to see a bit on staple pieces that everyone should have in their closet for 2018. In your spare time! Haha!

  19. I spotted those white loafers this week-end at Nordstrom. They are gorgeous but i can’t think of wearing white right now as it is pouring in LA, rare but true;)

  20. Always love your posts, Jo-Lynne. I think the white boots won’t last long. Back in the day I had “white, these boots are made for walk-in, go-go boots and I’m not sure they lasted a season or maybe I was out of it and got them as they were passing out of trend. Love the utility jacket. You can never have too many of them!!

  21. That red trench is to die for! I bought an army green jacket/shirt type similar to the Madwell jacket and 2 months later it’s sitting in my closet with tags. Got it from WHBM but don’t know what to wear it with. Part of the problem is the weather in AZ – too hot for jackets in the day. It was 73 or something crazy like that yesterday. #arizonawinterproblems

    1. Even here in the east, I find that I have to be intentional about wearing my utility jackets or they will sit in my closet. I’m the type of person to either bundle up or just go out in a sweater and be comfortable. Jackets aren’t really necessary, but they are a nice layering piece to add an element of interest.

  22. Loved this post. First time I’ve seen you do this. I’m on a no-shopping ban also but it sure is nice to look. Would love a try-on when you get to the mall.

  23. Love the Urban Decay eye shadow primer, I think you will too. Also like their under makeup primer too. Hang in there with all the weather you’re having…..

  24. My MIL gave me a pair of white mules 15years ago I never wore them much however they are comfortable. She has since passed and I’m happy I did not get rid of them! Who knew they are back in style!!

  25. I’m afraid I’m on a no shopping ban, as well. Oops! I bought a pair of black jeans yesterday but I promise it won’t happen again in the month of January. It is nice to see these trends for spring though. I especislly looove the red trench!
I’m going to pass on the white footwear. I know the heels will get scuffed from driving, plus they are a passing trend. Too much money to spend on a here today, gone tomorrow. Now, leopard is a different thing. It may not be trending in a year but it is more of a classic anyhow. And, so fun!
I’ve been tempted to try Levi’s. I’ve read they make your butt look great. ????
Someone above mentioned they would like to see more flats featured in your posts. I agree! I only wear flats unless dressed up. I think heels look great but my feet start to hurt and that makes a sad face. Can’t have that.
I hope your weather improves soon. Freezing rain is nasty stuff!

  26. I have tried the UD primer before- but I actually think NYX Professional Makeup Proof It Eyeshadow Primer works better, and it’s much cheaper!

  27. I have a pair of brown Malena loafers from Born that I love so much and they just released both a white and blush version. They are incredibly soft, comfortable shoes and I’m debating between those two colors for another pair. I previously had white loafer/boat shoes and I didn’t wear them much but I’m not sure if it was because I had a hard time styling them or because they weren’t that comfortable.

      1. Oh I LOVE the Born loafers … thanks for sharing 🙂
        I’m looking for a pair.

Back in the day, Talbots was my goto place for shoes (we had a Talbots shoe store in the mall) and I loved their shoes for dressier options .. but for some reason I don’t care for the shoes as much anymore … anyway, thanks for sharing!

        1. I used to shop Talbots a lot for everything… shoes, dresses, pants, sweaters, but that was 25 years ago, lol. Now I don’t find much there, but I do like that trench and those shoes… I may wander into the store next time I’m in the mall and see what I find.

  28. I use the UD Primer Potion everyday, and it’s great! It primes, but also gives a nice base color so you can use less of the highlighting colors from the palette.

  29. This was a great post. I do this all the time with your blog and Cyndi’s! I am trying not to shop too much, but always have a wish list going and then if my birthday or mother’s day ideas are needed – I can let everyone know what I want! 🙂 Embroidered sock booties are on my wish list.

    1. Haha, I am reading comments. That’s all I have time for. 😉

No, really, though, I do miss reading, but I don’t have the attention span for it that I used to. Kinda sad.

    1. I can see them going that direction. The straighter leg is definitely trying to weasel its way back into our closets. I think it will take soem time for the eye to adjust, but I’m definitely going to be playing around with the higher waisted, straighter styles this spring.

That said, I think skinny jeans are going to be around for a while. I’m still buying them!

  30. Hi Jo-Lynne!

I use the Urban Decay eye shadow primer and I love it!! I just bought a new one on Sunday and they now have an anti-aging version so I bought that one.

    Have a great day!

    Kimberly

  31. I really liked this post! I would love to get a colorful trench for Spring and I’m a fan of the straight leg cropped jeans too. White loafers and the mules are a no for me but I guess I shouldn’t say never! Lol!
I’m trying to not buy anything new until Spring and once Winter is history, I’m going to be purging my closet of Winter clothes that just didn’t get worn much or at all.

  32. I love those white loafers!  I have the same pair in black.  IMO, they run about a half soze small.  I have not worn them much because I walk out of them.  I should have sized down.  Oh well.????

  33. Loving the madewell jacket!

I have used the UD primer for years and I feel like once they changed the applicator they changed the formulation as well. It seems more “wet” than it used to.

So, I have been trying a ton of new ones. So far the smash box 24 hour and the Clinique “pallet” are my top picks

  34. I have those leopard mules and can say I love them. Comfortable and cute and stay on! Good luck. I too am trying to remix what I have and get rid of stuff and not shop. My Visa needs a rest 🙂

  35. I am a Levi’s gal! My absolute favorite is the 711 Skinny cropped. The pair I have has a reinforced destroyed area on the knee for those of us that are slightly embracing the destroyed look. I think Levi’s does well for those of us that are curvy in the hips and bottom and skinny in the legs. My local Kohl’s always has a good selection of Levi’s.

  36. Great post. Let me start by saying I am a talbots shopper. While I life the clothes the shoes are awful. They are pretty but they are all very uncomfortable. I have tried over and over again and find the cuteness doesn’t outweigh the discomfort. I would skip them if I were you.

  37. Loved this post. I’m glad to see a skirt in your wish list. I wear skirts to church and work mostly in the summer.  I like to wear them with loose blouses that fall a little bit below my waist line. Thanks for sharing!

  38. Hi Jo-Lynne,
I would love it if you did a post on some nice quality tunic-type tops. The kind you can wear with leggings and boots. I am doing Whole30, but struggling to be comfortable in my after-Christmas body. Thanks!

  39. Yes, Levis! My favorite are the Womens Slimming Skinny jeans…bought on Amazon. Love them! A bit of stretch, lightweight, fit like a glove, perfect pocket placement. I have black and a medium blue wash…my go to jeans.

      1. Levis seem to run on the small side…I’m between sizes and sized up. The stretch in the fabric is a bit forgiving.

  40. Jo Lynne—As usual very good info Thank you! . A Big “no” on white shoes ( was nurse in former career — HA). But I have almost the same red trench coat and love it! Sometimes I wear it to church and feel it really makes an outfit! ( of course I do have an actual outfit on under it).
Would love to see posts on ‘the true basics’. Finding those absolute classics that one would keep for years.
Last comment – sadly I have never had luck with Talbot’s shoes — cute but fit is off and usually very stiff and uncomfortable so I quit trying. Have you ever shopped “Marmis”. A shoe store with online options especially for those of us with narrow feet.  They do have a few stores around near Atlanta.
    Julie

    1. Interesting about Talbots shoes. I have shopped at Marmi. They have a nice selection of quality brands. I don’t wear a narrow b/c my toes are wide (but heel is narrow, so annoying) but for those who do, Marmi is a great place to shop!

I love the idea of “the true basics” and I just started writing that!

  41. Great post red and white not for me.
But love my urban decay wear it everyday to
    Work…eyeshadow stays.
Would love to see small travel pieces again
    Mix and match
Spring break can’t come soon enough in
    Chicago!

  42. Now I know why people say, “never say never!”   I can’t believe white loafers and Levi’s are top of my list for Spring!  And while I love love love the sock booties, I can’t seem to find them with a 1.5 to 2 inch heel 🙁  Maybe next Fall…

  43. Your blog rocks!  Keep up the amazing work!  Well now that it has finally become winter in California, I want to know what jackets/coats to wear with all my statement sleeved blouses/sweaters!  They look oh-so-boring and are uncomfortable stuffed into narrow jackets.

What’s a stylish girl to do?!

    1. Yeah, honestly, I ditched most of mine when winter got here. Some you can fold over and stuff into a coat (lol) but I found them to be a pain. I do have a few bell sleeve sweaters I kept and still wear occasionally – I wear them with my camel reefer coat b/c the arms are wider than my other coats.

  44. Thank you for for featuring Talbots, which few bloggers do (maybe because of shipping costs?) I shop there frequently because I’m petite and they have a full petite line. I agree with a comment that many of their shoes are u driving Mocs which are wider

  45. Sorry for typing trouble. I find many Talbots shoes too narrow and uncomfortable, but like the Everson driving Mocs which are wider. No red in those, tho.

  46. I love the Levi’s brand of jeans. They last long, don’t stretch out and you can’t beat their prices for a good quality jean. Thanks for your post. I am looking forward to getting some of these things for my wardrobe now!

  47. Oh the 501’s! Just add some white hi-top Rebok velcro shoes, put on some Depeche Mode or Oingo Boingo, slide Back to the Future in the VCR and 1980’s-we are back!

I’m having trouble accepting the high-waisted jeans again, but they are easier to keep on when you bend over! 🙂 And I’m always embarrassed for those who sit down and their shirt doesn’t cover their, ahem, backside. Maybe high waisted jeans are a good thing! 🙂 Love all the things you’re shopping for! 🙂

    1. HAHA!!!! I loved Depeche Mode. I still might have one of their songs or two on my running playlist.

People are people so why should it be . . .

Yeah, I am conflicted on the high rise. It is practical for sure but not sure it’s flattering . . . I will keep you posted!

  48. What I would like a tutorial on is length of jeans. Such as where should the bottom of cropped jeans and ankle jeans hit on a person’s leg? I have long legs and I wonder if these styles look too short on me. Also, how much skin should appear between booties/shoes and the bottom of leg of pants/jeans? Should ankle jeans be worn with booties or are they better suited to loafers and flats?

  49. I have been using UD eyelid primer for years after so many products that failed. You will not be sorry and you can often find it at a discount at nordstrom’s rack or when they run sales on the UD sebsite:)

  50. My daughter who is in college bought me the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer for Christmas. She uses it and loves it. I was afraid because of my age it might not work for me. However, I love it!! You honestly could wear it alone if you wanted, but I wear it as a primer and it truly has been a game changer for me.
I’m in a spending freeze this month….. but I love all your picks. I’m interested in trying Levi jeans again. I wore them all through high school and college.

  51. Love this post! It’s encouraging me to see your wish list – which to me means things you’re considering but not necessarily going to buy everything. (Helps me to “wish” without making a bunch of purchases). And I love the commentary. Can’t wait to see your next try-on session at Loft, too. Did you notice that navy sweater is an online exclusive?

  52. I use the UD primer too and like it. Actually, I preferred their old packaging (tube) better. You have to be careful if you use it under your lower lash line, bc it can look a little cakey if you get it too low.

I may think about those loafers for spring! I found what I think is the same loafer at Nordstrom-comes in a bunch of prints and colors…love them all, but the white is quite special!

    1. Yes, they’re also at Nordstrom. People say I link to too much Nordstrom. 😉 So sometimes I just link to the same thing elsewhere. People still say I do too much Nordstrom tho. It’s just so easy to search for things on their site and they have a great variety of price points.

  53. Allright, JoLynne, I’m going to wait for you to style all these things, particularly interested in the Levi’s……haha for old time’s sake.  What a great post!

  54. Ha!  I’m in total agreement with you about the outerwear!  For starters, I don’t like wearing it. Lol. It’s just bulky and uncomfortable.  But, I will say, with technology, improvements have been made and a winter coat no longer weighs ten pounds!  Last year, I purchased a classic tan trench and a gray,  wool blend, double breasted, dress coat. For spring, I would love to add a fun color jacket such as red or pink or maybe even royal blue. The driving Mocs are super cute and such a fun color!  Not a fan of white shoes…….I don’t think I have any white shoes of any style….even tennis shoes.  But that’s just my preference.  I’ve seen bloggers style them and they look great on them! I agree that maybe a creamy pair – not bright white – would help eliminate the starkness. I may have to try the Levi’s.  That was my go-to jean in high school..  .way back in the day….lol.   I’ve tried the UD primer and I like it okay but Benefit Stay Don’t Stray is my fav. If you don’t car with for the UD or if you want a comparison item, you may give that one a try. It’s thicker so it provides a little more coverage.  Looking forward to seeing your spring styles!

  55. Any fun jewelry on your list? I just got the short silver and gold circle necklace you recommended and I love it!!

  56. I love this post. I try to make lists like this for myself a couple of times a year.  I can’t wait to see what you do with the skirt.

  57. I finally have time to comment on this post.  I really like the Levi’s, the loafers, and the camo mules.
I just got a silver tote that I ordered from DSW.  Do you consider silver to be a year round and a neutral color?  I’m debating on keeping it.  Also, I really enjoyed the FB Live today!  I’m so glad I was able to join in.  Thank you!

  58. For FTF, how about “building a  jewelry wardrobe.”  I know workwear posts are not your favorite, but jewelry for workwear might be good— sometimes, in the office where I work, It seems women don the pearl earrings and the same “statement necklace” that can be aging.  They may think it costs too much to have several go to pieces like Lucky, Kate Spade, or Kendra Scott.

I feel awkward saying this, but I don’t love love love the workwear posts. They don’t have your usual pizazz-  I’m a boring 51-year-old attorney, but I still like to rock my ankle pants, cute jackets from AT and WHBM— snazzy, shoes (usual kitten heels these days) and elegant bags, along with my Urban Decay eyeshadow and Bobbi Brown lip. ????

    1. Hey Dale – I feel the same way about my workwear posts. I always feel they’re kind of boring and missing the mark somehow. That’s why I’d rather leave them to someone who is better at it than I am… that said, I’m really excited about a look I shot this week – I think it can be great for an office setting, or at least can be tweaked to work for different settings. 🙂 I will continue to try, but I know I do casualwear best. 🙂

The jewelry wardrobe is a good idea. I tend to be a bit of a plain jane in this regard, but when I do nail it with accessories, it definitely makes a difference. Something to work on. 🙂

  59. You will love the Urban Decay eye primer! It is wonderful! There is something about Levi’s and I am glad they are coming back. I love the fit of them. I so want to go shopping but I will avoid it for now!!! At least try!!

  60. I feel late to the party, but I love this post.  It’s such a great way for me to see what’s trending.  Keep up your great work!
