Daily Mom Style: Marled Cardigan with Infinity Scarf & Skinny Jeans

What I Wore: Marled Cardigan over a White Tee with Skinnies

Good Saturday morning! How was your weekend so far? All day yesterday, I felt like it was Saturday, so when I woke up this morning and realized that I get ANOTHER Saturday, it was like winning the lottery! Ha!

We spent Thanksgiving with my in-laws, then yesterday we spent the entire day organizing and purging the house, putting away fall decorations, and preparing for Christmas. We were planning to get our Christmas tree yesterday, but we ended up spending the whole day working on the house. We’re all a bit on the sloppy side, so I found stuff stashed in every corner and under every piece of furniture — just random stuff like stray socks, notebooks, games, trash, pens and pencils, ugh!!! It feels so good to have it all cleaned out and tidy. NOW we’re ready to get our tree!

Did you do any shopping yesterday? I shopped online and made a nice dent in my Christmas list. I’m hoping to wrap it up on Monday. Stay tuned for my Cyber Monday sales post, and if you missed it, yesterday I posted a HUGE roundup of Black Friday sales. Some are expired, but many are good through the weekend, so if you’re doing any shopping today, be sure to check it out.

Today I’m posting a bonus Winter Outfit.

UPDATE: THIS INFINITY SCARF IS BACK IN STOCK! WOOT!

What I Wore: Marled Cardigan over a White Tee with Skinnies

Cyndi and I weren’t planning to post outfits over the holiday weekend, but this perforated shopper has already sold out (boo!) and the marled cardigan is at a deep discount ($21.59!!!) and colors are going fast, so I wanted to be sure to share it while you can still get it.

It is my goal when sharing my outfits to keep my looks wearable and the products affordable for a variety of budgets. I know that not everyone is working with the same budget, so my hope is that you can always get new ideas for putting outfits together, no matter what the price point. Bonus if you shop your closet!

That said, I’m making a concerted effort to integrate more budget-friendly items into my wardrobe. I can definitely make a case for investing in certain quality items that will stand the test of time, but if you’re only going to wear something for a season or two, it doesn’t make sense to spend a lot. This marled cardigan and the perforated faux leather shopper are two of my new favorites because they’re cute, practical, and super affordable.

I LOVE this cardigan, and I think everyone should buy two — one to keep and one as a gift. Spread the love!! I wore it two days in a row this week because it is so comfortable (don’t worry, I changed the shirt underneath, ha!) It’s not scratchy at all, as sweaters at this price point tend to be. It’s quite soft, and it has a really nice feel to it. Plus I love that it’s not super heavy. It’s currently available in 4 colors, but they’re selling out fast.

I wore the sweater the first time over my magenta tulip tee. It was a pretty color contrast. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures. I wore it again the next day over my long-sleeve scoop neck tee (just $18!) and then I added this infinity scarf and my DL1961 Florence skinnies (ON SALE at Nordstrom right now for $124.60!!) Okay, I think I over did it with the exclamation points. But these are great prices, y’all. The jeans are high, but I promise you, they are worth every penny.

This perforated faux leather shopper is by POVERTY FLATS. I love the deep oxblood color, and the contrasting straps along with the tassel and luggage tag are great little details. Plus it comes with a built-in zip-top pouch to keep your stuff together. The nice thing is, you can take it out and put it in another bag so you don’t have to move your belongings from one purse to another.

Perforated Shopper

Here’s a similar Faux Leather Shopper that comes in 6 colors.

This outfit is perfect for my stay-at-home mom status, but it’s also perfect for a Saturday of running errands and shuttling the kids around.

  1. That’s what I am talking about!!! Love this outfit and it is something I will totally try to copy. The color of the bag really makes this pop. I bought a marl cardigan earlier in the season and never even thought to add a infinity scarf to also up the impact. Thanks JoLynne for listening and hearing your readers. You are one of my favorite fashion bloggers. You just keep it real and I love that. Have a great day!!

  2. Another great outfit! Love, love, the cardigan and the pop of color with your bag. Thank you, for letting us know about all these great deals. I’m going to check out the cardigan, wish the scarf wasn’t sold out.
Good luck with your Christmas decorating. I started mine yesterday-it’s not an easy task!

  3. Jo-Lynne, I really appreciate you sharing more budget friendly pieces with us. We are retired and our retirement home is small with much less closet space than what we have now. So, I have to limit what clothing I purchase and how much I spend on clothes. What I am trying to do is replace some if the items hanging in my closet now, like the sweatshirt jackets, with more useful and adult looking items. So, I am going to order at least one of the sweaters and donate a few of the sweatshirt jackets I’ve had way too long. So, thank you very much!
Since today is Small Business Saturday, I am going to downtown Duluth to walk around and support at least one of our small business owners.
    Have a blessed day!

  4. I love your blog, I always get great ideas on outfits to put together and things to look for when I go shopping. Plus as a busy mom of 3, you have all the links so I can shop from home! Woo hoo and thank you!
I wanted to share a great place to look for accessories Stella & Dot. I have this bag, no pop of color, but the with perforations being “in” it’s the perfect addition. Hope you dot mind since since your bag sold out, boo!

  5. I just love the cardigan, it looks so comfy. I also noticed you are wearing a beautiful red ring? I am looking for a ring for my sister and was wondering if you care to share about it. Also, thanks for the budget options, if I spend a lot on something I feel like I have to wear it all the time to get my money’s worth. Thanks so much for all the work you do on your blog, you are so helpful and I greatly appreciate it.

  6. Jo-Lynne,
I just wanted to mention that I purchased the Michael Kors Janey bracelet watch that you listed on your Black Friday post and am so excited to receive it as such a deep discount 🙂 Also, you have written about your love for your Clarisonic and I recently purchased the Mia 1 and have to say – I love it! Thank you for your insight on so many lines and products – the information is very helpful! I also enjoy your humor you include in your posts 🙂
    Blessings!
    -Michele

    1. I’m so glad you like the Clarisonic! It really makes a difference… as long as I remember to use it. HA! And enjoy your bracelet! I have a similar one that I’ve been wearing for a few years. I love it.

  7. Thanks so much… I love this outfit. I also used the black Friday list you posted. I got my tree up but its the wrapping I dread doing. Do you girls wrap or use gift bags?

    1. I wrap. I actually enjoy it. I KNOW! I am weird. 🙂 I try to make it festive. Clean up the kitchen, put on Christmas music, light the tree, and then I go to town. I try to wipe it all out in one fell swoop. 🙂

  8. Hi! Live your posts. What size are you wearing for that cardigan? We seem to be about the same size and not sure if you got the junior or women’s.
    Thanks!

  9. Joanne, I am a new subscriber and I’m enjoying your blog. Several entries back you posted about the “face cleaning machines”!!!!! I would like to get one but I can’t find the post. Would you please send me the information? Thanks so much!

  10. You totally inspired me. I love this outfit! Literally in my robe, sipping coffee and could not even think about what to wear to church (we are casual…beach life!) and then right to a birthday party.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
