IG Roundup + Weekend Sales 01.06.18

Good morning, friends! I wasn’t planning to post today, and then I decided to throw together an Instagram Roundup along with some of the Weekend Sales I’m watching. I’m also trying to share some of my outfits over on my FB Page, as that was requested a few times in my 2017 Reader Survey (which is still open, by the way! I’ll share the results and giveaway announce the winner on Monday!) So I’m also including those outfits in this IG Roundup, making this more of a “What I Wore” kind of post, I guess!

I hate to post duplicate content on FB and IG because I find it annoying when I see the same stuff on both platforms by people I follow, but I realize not everyone is on both or follow me on both so I may be letting up on that policy over the next few months and see how it goes. I will still try to keep the majority of the content on those platforms different, though, so as not to be too terribly redundant.

So anyway, here we go. This is what I wore this week, in no particular order.

I wore this outfit to go shopping one day, I think. Trying to remember. I know I was going somewhere. These boots are still available in limited sizes, and I love them this time of year becasue they’re really warm, super comfortable, and waterproof! Plus they’re 40% off right now at Nordstrom.

The cashmere v-neck is from Bloomingdale’s Aqua line, and I really like the raised seams and rib-knit neck detail. I just wish the neckline weren’t quite so narrow. For size reference, I have the small, but it’s a little snug. I have the turtleneck version in a medium, and I think I prefer the fit on that one, so you if you’re considering this, you may want to size up if you tend to run in between sizes.

Also, this sweater is 50% off thru 1/9/18 PLUS Lloyalists can take an additional 25% off when they shop with their Boomingdale’s Card OR 15% off when they shop with your Lloyalist ID.

Signing up to be a Lloyalist is free, and it gives you free shipping so I recommend it, although you can also use Shoprunner with Bloomgindale’s if you have that. I love Shoprunner because it gives you free 2-day shipping and free returns at a lot of retailers who otherwise charge (like Lucky Brand and Ann Taylor, to name a few.) Plus I love that I can get my Bloomies orders in 2 days, whereas Nordstrom can often take a week or more.

Whew, that was a lot of info on a simple outfit. Ha!

I wore this outfit to church a couple weeks ago. It is always cold in our church building, so I bundled up in a cozy cashmere turtleneck, black jeans, black OTK boots, and I wore my Paloma coat, which I kept on for most of the morning. I really like this classic color combination.

This is what I wore for New Year’s Eve. We went to a casual party at a friend’s house, and I knew when I purchased this sweatshirt that I’d be wearing it for NYE. I’ve also worn it a lot of other times. It is just so soft. I know, I tend to say that everything is soft, lol, but it really is remarkably so for a sweatshirt. The material is on the thinner side, but I’m not cold when I wear it. We keep our house pretty warm, I guess. For size reference, I have the 3.

Also, I love, love, love these loafers, and they’re 50% off right now. I featured them yesterday in my January Favorites post, but if you missed that, I love their minimalistic style, and they’re really soft and flexible. Unfortunately, these loafers are low inventory at Nordstrom, but this Halogen pair is similar (and under $100) and I also like the Me Too Audra loafer a lot.

CHEERS Sweatshirt // Frame skinnies (earns a $25 Bloomies reward card) // Vince Milo Loafers

This is a picture I shared on my Facebook Page because this cashmere cardigan FINALLY went 50% off! The blush that I’m wearing is sold out, but they still have it in grey. It’s a gorgeous sweater, so so so soft, great quality, yadda yadda. I think it was 40% off when I got it at the #NSale, so 50% is the lowest it’s been and I expect it to be sold out soon.

Halogen Three-Quarter Sleeve Cashmere Cardigan // cami (sold out) // similar AG Legging Ankle Jeans (earns a $25 Bloomies reward card) // Sam Edelman Yaro Sandals in Oatmeal Suede

I wore this comfy casual outfit on New Year’s Day. We were mostly at home, but we did go to a 3-year-old birthday party in the neighborhood. This sweater is old, but so warm and cozy, and yes, soft. Ha!

J.Crew striped funnel neck sweater // similar AG Legging Ankle Jeans (earns a $25 Bloomies reward card) // similar booties (50% off!) // R Minkoff Love Crossbody (33% off)

I wore this outfit a couple days ago when we had a snow day. I knew I wouldn’t be going anywhere so there was really no need for snow boots, although I did end up changing to slippers when I got back inside.

Here’s at mirror selfie so you can see the outfit better. I put this on my Insta Story. I’ve been trying out some lower priced jeans so I have some I can recommend to you, and I really like this pair by BlankNYC for $88. The material is… wait for it… super soft. Ha! Not, it really is remarkable how soft they are.

They’re a little thicker than the Articles of Society jeans I recommended in a previous post, which I like, and I like the wash and distressing details a little better as well. They’re definitely ripped up, but they’re cute if you like the deconstructed look. That brand does have other jeans that aren’t ripped.

The only weird part about these is the rear pockets are really tiny. I generally like a smaller pocket, like on Paige and AG jeans, but these may be too small for my liking. It all depends on you and your body, though. I know a lot of people who wear and love this brand.

similar Rails Hunter Plaid Shirts (more here, but some are full price) // Blank Denim skinny jeans // UGG Dakota slippers // nails: CND Hollywood

I wore this simple outfit to host my family Christmas party the weekend after Christmas. Nothing new here, but I do love the fit and proportion of this look, and the loafers give it a chic modern vibe.

Halogen V-Neck Cashmere Sweater // similar AG Legging Ankle Jeans (earns a $25 Bloomies reward card) // R Minkoff Mika Mules // Stella & Dot Luna Pendant // nails: CND Hollywood

I’m adding this one in because Fotini reminded me about it in the comments. This La Nuit sweater is so cute for this time of year, and it’s under $12 at Loft right now! Currently it’s fully stocked in all sizes.

LOFT La Nuit sweater (70% off sale price) // AG Farrah high rise ankle jeans (similar for less) // similar booties (50% off!) // R Minkoff Love Crossbody (33% off)

I snapped this picture for my Insta Story after my manicure yesterday. I’m trying a new color. This is CND Cashmere Wrap, and it’s such a pretty neutral. My nails are pretty short right now because the cold weather has made them kind of brittle, so I wanted something really light. I have the Shellac but it’s also available in the Vinylux.

Finally, this is what I wore yesterday to get my manicure (see above) and run a few errands afterwards. This sweater is a really stretchy knit, and yes, again, really soft and cozy. I like how long the sleeves are and the rib trim detail on hem and sleeves. Most Madewell sweaters run big, but this one runs smaller and is more form fitting than the others I have by this brand. I have the small, but I wouldn’t mind trying the medium because I’m often tugging it down.

My UGG boots are like 10 years old, but I can’t bear to part with them because they’re so warm, and I really like the styling.

Madewell Inland Turtleneck Sweater // AG Legging Ankle Jeans (similar for less HERE and HERE) // UGG boots (super old) // Haitian Coin Necklace

Whew! That’s a wrap! Funny, I thought this post was going to be short. Haha. Who am I fooling? My posts are never short.

  1. I was curious knowing you live in the north and some of your at home outfits – what do you set your thermostat on?  I grew up in New England & it was a pride issue to keep your thermostat quite low, at 65 in the day!  Now, l say I’m not going to, but on really cold days, I still keep it below 70.

    1. We keep it on 70 or 71 usually. If I’m really chilly I’ll nudge it up to 72. At night, 68. I find no virtue in being cold, lol!!! I also have a space heater in my office that I run most days. 🙂

      1. It doesn’t take long to get used to a warmer climate!   And it’s funny indoors, every degree makes a difference.
Really good post.  I enjoy seeing all your day to day outfits.  You dress stylishly, but still look real.

  2. Always spot on and always inspirational!  Thank you for posting today!  Now I have an idea of what to wear for the Churchill movie we are going to see.  So great to have my own stylist! ????  Have a great day Jolynne!

  3. Thanks for sharing what you normally wear at home.  My big issue with wearing pullover sweaters is that they have to dry flat.  As we’ve discussed before, I have limited space to dry items flat, so I prefer wearing tops that can go in the dryer.  You would freeze in our home!  We have a gas fireplace looking heater in our front room, that we use to heat to heat the family room/den and the kitchen.  The full house heater is set on 50, so the bedrooms are rather chilly since I am so hot natured.  Larry is wearing thermals to keep himself as healthy as possible.  I finally ordered a pair of snow boots from DSW last night.  I hope they fit and that I like them because I need another pair of shoes that keep my tootsies warm.  Have a great Saturday!

    1. I use the top of a wooden drying rack to dry my sweaters flat, Ginger, and have never had an issue with them stretching out. Honestly, I think when I dry them on a flat surface they take so long to dry that they smell a little weird.

Great topic for a post, Jo-Lynne? Caring for the nice clothes we’re investing in? I’ve definitely learned some tricks over time.

  4. Good morning Jo-Lynne and thank you for posting today. With Loft having an xtra 70% off sale, I decided to look for the white La Nuit sweater you had featured in December (?), but I can’t find the post or your comment on what size you went with. Could you let me know please on the size? Thank you!

  5. It is scary when the kids start to drive. I was fortunate that none of my three had accidents. Giving them an older car to drive, eased any stress of dents and scratches. As a new driver, it takes some experience with nasty winter weather to get the hang of it. I know you’re just thankful that he is unhurt, other than his pride.
I sure don’t miss those extreme temperatures.
Thank you for sharing your Facebook outfits today.

  6. Thank you for the post today, I am glad your son is ok. Its nice to see that people can dress nice in cold weather, around here all you see is sweats and camo which i do not like. I like my athleisure wear a lot around the house, athleisure wear has come a long way so many cute looks.

  7. Thanks for sharing your Instagram photos. Although I follow you on FB, I don’t have Instagram, so it was nice to see all of your outfits. Loved them all!

  8. So sorry about the accident, Jo-Lynne. It happens! All 4 of mine had an accident at some point, and they’re all excellent drivers as adults who can drive anywhere in any climate. Hang in there, parenting teens/young adults is not for the faint of heart. My husband owned an insurance agency and when his clients asked what kind of car to get their new driver, he always recommended something safe that would protect them when, not if, they got in an accident.
    Brrrr. It’s cold in Delaware.

    1. Well, it is his 3rd accident in about as many months. LOL! So yeah, it’s getting old, and more worrisome. Funny thing, he went the first 9 mos of having his license with no issues other than taking out our mailbox one day (in his defense, it was in an awful location – now it is moved over.) And now we’ve had these 3 situations… 2 involved other cars/drivers, and one involved a deer. All three were understandable and relatively mild, but not cheap. I wish I thought it was making him a more careful driver but I’m dubious. LOL.

  9. Hi Jolynn, Glad your son is ok. When my kids started driving, I used to make the sign of the cross every time they went out! They are 34 &31. My son who is 34,married and has a 2yr. old of his own, I still will tell him to be careful driving, especially with my granddaughter in the car! As always, loved your post, thanks for the Ann Taylor sale info! FYI-I’m in Boston with 7degree temp,, 12in of snow and wind gusts of up to 25-30mile an hrs. My thermostat is on 70.!! Stay warm!

  10. So glad your son is okay! It truly is scary when your children start driving. I have two boys–20 and 17. I worry all of the time.

  11. Great outfits as always:) my son has his learners permit and I’m not looking fwd to letting him out alone ????Anyway, hope u have a great wknd !

  12. Yes these boys
    Grace grace grace
My son had horrible accident junior year…not his fault
    We lived through it …
Gods grace and angels cover us all
Hope he’s encouraged to get back out there.
Love outfits … your my go to blog ????

    1. So glad your son made it thru okay. This is the 3rd accident (5th if you count 2 that happened in our yard…) and none are serious, but they do add up, and they make me nervous to send him out yet again. I guess it’s all part of the learning process. Keeps us on our knees, right? 🙂

  13. I love the Lucky Brand necklace but not for $49. Do you think any other stores have it on sale? Great post as usual. We have not thawed out yet in Savannah. How do you deal with cold weather in the north??

    1. The only place I can find it is Amazon. I have noticed that their prices fluctuate a lot, and they reduce them when they’re on sale elsewhere, and then when they’re gone everywhere else, they jack them back up to full price. Definitely keep an eye on it. They might drop the price again.

  14. Glad to hear your son is okay. We are frozen here in North Carolina. I am a true southern girl that loves the warm weather so I am counting the days until Spring. Love all the outfits! Thanks for posting your outfits even on those days you don’t go out. You keep us all looking fabulous.

  15. So glad your son is okay, Maybe a break from driving is needed until warm weather comes back?

Love your at home outfits! Nice to be comfy and cozy in this cold weather!

  16. My granddaughter totaled a Honda Pilot and the car that hit her (her fault), totaled a Subaru and the car she hit, backed into a family friend’s car in the driveway, got a speeding ticket ( 45 in a 30….so not reckless) ……all this in the first 6 months she got her license.  Thankfully, no one seriously hurt.  God’s grace.  She’s been driving for over a year since all this with no incidents so hopefully they learn to be more aware and more careful.  Even after kids grow up, then there are grandkids to worry about!

  17. So glad that your son is okay! Thank you for sharing your outfits as I’m not on Instagram and I enjoy seeing your daily style. It keeps me inspired not to fall into frumpsville since most days I work from home.

  18. Hi Jo-Lynne, Does the blank denim run true to size? How do you like the fit? Thinking about getting a pair and I am usually a size 26 in most jeans.

    1. I feel they run a tad small. I have the 28 and they were a little more snug than my AG in 28. They do stretch some but not a ton. I would advise ordering 2 sizes and trying both if you’re unsure.
