Girls Lunch Out Outfit with Payless

Hello, friends! Welcome back to 25 Days of Winter Fashion. It’s hard to believe we’re over halfway done with our latest seasonal style series. Getting pictures in the winter is challenging, and the day we took these it was very windy, but we tried to make the best of it. Pardon the wild and crazy hair!

I'm styling a chic girls lunch out outfit with coated skinny jeans, knit blazer, and these fierce over-the-knee boots by Christian Siriano for Payless.

Today I’m teaming up with Payless to style a fun GLO outfit, but it’s really an outfit you could wear almost anywhere. It just makes me think of the sort of thing I’d wear to a lunch out with the girls.

A lot of you love my black flat OTK boots with the gold zipper, and these offer a similar look for less. While they don’t appear to be online, I found these at my local Payless store as part of the Christian Siriano line. If you want to skip the store and shop online, these Yvella OTK boots are very similar. They have a gold buckle instead of the zipper, but they would be every bit as cute with this outfit.

I paired them with a pair of coated denim pants. They are cool because they look like leather but they have the comfort and breathability of cotton. Price-wise, they’re generally more expensive than faux leather pants but way less than genuine leather pants, and they’re more versatile than either, in my opinion. I would wear these at times when leather pants may be a bit much, but these definitely turn a basic outfit up a notch.

I topped the outfit off with a black shell and my red knit blazer, and I added a bold medallion necklace and coordinating earrings to bring the attention up to my face and in towards my waist. I like how the eye sort of bounces around from the gold zipper on the boots to the necklace to the earrings. I carried a black bag with gold hardware to complete the look.

  1. I”m a huge lover of Payless—they almost always have some great prices for trendy footwear!! I love the zipper detail on these boots—very sassy!!
You know why I love my coated jeans? No pet hair—-it just doesn’t stick like it does on my other pants!!
Great outfit, Jo-Lynne—-I think it’s truly ageless. Any of us on the blog could easily wear it and look good!

  2. I love this! I love the all black and pop of color with your festive blazer! You look awesome. I also love your hair. Have you posted how you style it when you do the “waves”? If so, please share that post again! Have a great lunch out!

  3. I really appreciate the fact that both you and Cindy show clothing, footwear, jewelry, and handbags at a variety of price points. Although I am a firm believer in “you get what you pay for,” sometimes the price just isn’t justified – especially for trendier pieces. Keep the pics and links coming. You guys turned me on to Nordstroms. It’s my new favorite place to “visit” and shop. In fact, I ordered a camel duster, and it arrived yesterday. I am so excited! No more long sweaters hanging below my knee length coats:)

    1. Oh girl. I have the thinnest, most annoying hair. I use a curling wand to get the waves. When I wear it straight, I tame it with a big round brush because it’s frizzy when left to its own devices. 🙂

  4. Jo-Lynne, I like the outfit composition in general, but I’m not a fan of these trousers. I think they look like a faded pair of black jeans. Maybe the photo doesn’t do them justice? Also not a fan of the gold zipper on the boots – it’s very yellow gold, and that makes the boots look cheap. Just my opinion! I also think the blazer is almost ‘too casual’ to go with the boots which are quite dressy. I usually love everything you show, so maybe I’m just having an off day, sorry.

  5. I love the color of that jacket- so nice with your pretty dark hair.
On another matter…….I took your advice (and advantage of a sale alert from Kelly Snyder!) to try a pair of dl1961 jeans. NOW, I understand- wow, so soft, stretchy, really premium. Even hubs commented. Love your blog every morning!

  6. Love these boots! can’t believe they came from Payless. I have a pair of boots that I found at Old Navy and I love them…love finding deals! I prefer brown first, but usually buy brown and black of my favorite shoes etc..
Everyone is commenting on your hair.. 🙂 It is quite flattering…it looks fun today. 🙂 I have longer hair, but I want to cut it to my shoulders and have long layers, similar to yours. Hubby doesn’t want me to cut it, but as I get older my face is rounder…lol…I think a shorter cut would be more flattering.
    Enjoy your day!
    Marie
