All About That Trench…. #FashionFriday

Even though there’s a foot of snow on the ground right now, I propose that it is not too early to start thinking about your spring wardrobe. I, for one, am tired of winter and ready to start planning for warmer weather!

A classic trench coat should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. I have a teal-colored trench that I bought about 10 years ago, and I still wear it every spring and get compliments on it. It is getting quite old, so I decided that this is the year I will get something new. I’m collaborating with Zappos on this post because they have a great selection of trench coats, lightening fast free shipping, and easy returns.

Let’s window shop, shall we?? There are so many styles and colors to choose from in a trench these days. You certainly can’t go wrong with a classic trench like this one from DKNY in this light grey.

And I love the piping detail on this Classic Trench from Yumi.

But I’m a huge fan of COLOR in a trench. I like the looks of this classic trench by Calvin Klein in Poppy. I like how it’s only single breasted, and that color is just divine. I particularly love the hood because I never carry and umbrella. Unfortunately, they were out of my size.

Another nice color option in a trench is the hot color of the spring: blush. I love the ruffle detail and asymmetrical zipper on this Jessica Simpson Asymmetrical Zip Ruffle Front Trench.

And there’s always black. This Jessica Simpson Doublebreasted Trench with Crochet Detail is classy in black, and the crochet detail adds a subtly feminine touch. Even though it’s neutral, it’s black is a little less expected than the typical tan or olive trench.

In the end, I ordered this DKNY Double-Breasted Skirted Trench Coat in Primrose. This will definitely brighten up any rainy day, yes?? I love the removable hood and the button-tab accent at cuffs.

I also like that it’s a bit shorter than the teal one that I have.

DKNY makes a quality product, but at $115, this Double-Breasted Skirted Trench won’t break the bank, and I think the Primrose color will be smashing with my grey rain boots this spring!

Now, if the weather would just cooperate so I could wear it off my front porch. Come on, Mother Nature. You’re killing me, here.

  1. Love it! I have navy, black, gray and lime green trenches! The poppy is a great color on you! The hood is great to keep hair in place on a foggy morning. Enjoy the weekend! Supposed to be in the 40’s next week here in NY.

  2. Awesome post, as usual! Thanks for all you do! I love the lipstick color you are wearing…what is it?

    1. Oh, yes! Earlier in the day I had on a bright blue top so I thought I’d go for an orange shade of lipstick. It’s actually an orange crayon and a nude lipstick on top to tone it down. I’d have worn a pinker tone with this coat, if I’d thought about it. 🙂 But I do like the orange. I think I blogged about it at the time… here is the lip crayon, but I have a nude lipstick that I have been wearing over it – not that gloss I mention in this post. 3. You cannot beat a good trench coat! I love your pink! That is sure to brighten any rainy day. I have a leopard one that is seriously one of the oldest things in my closet. It has totally stood the test of time.

  4. You look great in the bright pink! We are definitely on the same page as far as thinking about spring. It’s -1 here this a.m. and I am just so done with winter! I have a basic black trench coat that I’ve had for years. It’s still in good shape, but I am craving color. I just bought a bright kelly green one–can’t wait for it to get warm enough to wear it!

  5. The trench coat is one for the ages! It should be in everyone’s closet. I have a black one, but I pinned a pink months ago. I might need to refresh my trench for Spring. Love the pink one you have. Such a gorgeous colour!

  6. What a stunning color on you! Should be one of your signature shades. Love the trench coat post. I hesitated to buy a very inexpensive, flouncy little trench at Kohl’s on sale last year. So glad I did.

  7. Macy’s has a DKNY lime green trench, but no hood. It’s an Everyday Value, which makes it a steal.

  8. LOVE THIS! I’ve been looking for a better trench, I have a black one but something about it I don’t like. Maybe it’s the color, IDK!
Anyway, I LOVE the pink, love!!!
