Fashion Friday: Rachel Zoe Collection

I know I co-own a style blog and write a weekly fashion feature here on MOAH, but to be honest with you, I’m not a big runway watcher, and I don’t keep up with the latest and greatest fashion designers. However, I do know who Rachel Zoe is because I always check out her picks on Piperlime before I start shopping the site. I love her taste in clothing and accessories, so you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to view her debut collection at Neiman Marcus this week.

(Besides that, it’s just FUN to dress up and leave the kids with a babysitter for a fashionable girls lunch out every once in a while!!)

Before the presentation even began, I zeroed in on this Sequin Shift Dress. It was gracing one of the mannequins in the Rachel Zoe display, and by the time the model came out wearing it, I was drooling.

Can’t you just see me dancing the night away at BlogHer in all that sparkle!?? Sigh . . . a girl can dream, right??

At $495, I didn’t dare try it on, for fear I’d love it too much (or pop a sequin and end up HAVING to pay for it) but that didn’t stop me from dreaming about it last night. Seriously, if it ever ends up on the clearance rack at Last Call, it’s mine, all mine!

And what about this Belted Trench. Isn’t that just sublime?? If I had this jacket, I would wear it every day from October 1 to March 30.

And it just wouldn’t be Fashion Friday without a handbag, right?

Hold onto your hats! (Or handbags, rather.)

The rep from Rachel Zoe was carrying this. She even opened up and showed us inside it. Unfortunately I was sitting across the table so I couldn’t touch it, but it looked incredibly soft and supple and yet still had plenty of structure. It is sized generously so it could easily hold a Kindle or iPad in addition to all my purse stuff — maybe even my 13″ laptop. I can just see myself waltzing through the airport with that baby on my shoulder . . .

Sorry, there I go, daydreaming again.

I’ll make no bones about it, these products are completely and totally out of my price range. However, it’s fun to window shop sometimes, and I love attending style events and seeing the latest trends.

I did do some shopping, though. I scored a really cute black and white dress for BlogHer. You’ll have to wait till next week to see a picture because I can’t find it online, but it’s super cute and perfect for dressing up or down depending on the formality of the event.

I also picked out some sunglasses with help from my good friend and partner-in-style, Melissa. My husband gave me a gift card for my birthday, and far be it for me to let that go to waste! I found a pair of oversized black plastic frames with black-and-white print on the inside by Tory Burch. I really love the shield style that I have, but I wanted something different, and these were the first pair we (and by we, I mean Melissa) picked up when we walked into the store. After trying on about 15 other pairs, I went back to that one. Isn’t that always the way??
