Daily Mom Style 01.02.13

Today the kids went back to school, my company has returned home, the Christmas decorations have been lovingly put away and our house is back to some semblance of normal. I’m excited to get back to business as usual, and what better way to start than with a Daily Mom Style post!?

I’ve been saving photos for 2 weeks (I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat!) so grab a cuppa coffee and sit back and keep me company while I show you what I’ve been up to lately!

I’m going to do some cheating since I didn’t get pictures of most of my outfits while we were traveling. I wore this in the car both to and from Virginia. Since I basically only got out of the car at rest stops and gas stations, I saw no need to get all gussied up. I wore my favorite gray fleece sweatshirt over a pink Athleta tee with yoga pants.

This was the Sunday before Christmas at my parents’ house. We went to church and then out to lunch, so I wore this geometric print dress from the Banana Republic Factory Outlet with black tights and black boots. This outfit could probably use a pair of statement earrings, but I all I had with me were studs. I like to travel light. HA!!

And this is what I wore on Christmas Day — my Oakley Indy Sweater over a lavender tank with yoga pants and UGG slippers. Classy, right? Well, we didn’t go anywhere, and I was only in photos from the waist up. I love this sweater and its funky stripes.

I’m not sure when or where I wore this outfit, but I think this photo is from the week before Christmas. I layered my gray drapey sweater (Nordstrom, old) over a long-sleeved magenta top (Banana Republic, old) and wore it with these straight-leg jeans (Citizens, old — are you sensing a pattern here??) and my silver ballet flats (Aldo…. OLD!) I tried something new — layering necklaces! The long one is a mixed metal from Silpada, and I liked it with the outfit but felt like I still needed something in the neckline so I added this circle necklace from Studio Jewel. Whaddya think? I’m not sure I love it.

I put this on to wear around the house during Christmas vacation on a day that I was entertaining friends. This cashmere cowl-neck sweater is simple and cozy, and I paired it with skinny jeans and my Franco Sarto Poet boots. In an attempt to add some color, I wore these Stella & Dot Charlize Tear Drop earrings.

This is the outfit I wore on Saturday to my husband’s family’s holiday party. It was a casual family affair, so I pulled this silver and black striped top out of the back of my closet and paired it with dark jeans. I wanted to wear cute shoes, but since it was snowing, I settled for my black Dankso boots.

The red purse and red watch had to suffice for a festive flair — and also my sparkly red nails!

Cheating again. I wore pretty much this exact outfit to church on Sunday and then to a play with my family. Of course you know I’m cheating because Sunday was cold and snowy, but this is the gist.

I wore this outfit on New Year’s Eve to do some shopping with my daughter and then out to dinner with the fam.

Later that night, our good friends came over to ring in the New Year with chocolate fondue and a lively game of Guesstures. Here’s a close-up of Sarah and me. Unfortunately it’s a tad blurry, but we were pretty blurry by then, ourselves! I’m not used to being up much past 10, but with a nap and a little friend called espresso, I managed to stay awake till midnight!

That’s it for me. What have you been up to this week!?

  1. I love the layered necklaces. Also, that pic with you in teal is so good. Tell your husband (or whomever the photographer was) nice job! I must start getting better pictures!

    1. I struggle with necklaces, but I always feel like I need one. I don’t pay much attention to earrings anymore, though, with this hairstyle. I feel like you can barely see them.

  2. Happy New Year Darling! Love the print of that dress. Hope you guys had a fabulous holiday. I still have to put all our decorations away and take down the tree. Not looking forward to it 🙁

  3. Love the outfits with the green pants, the rust pants, and the charcoal cardi over the purple shirts – those are my favorites from this batch! The all-black striped shirt one is great, too. 🙂

  4. Love the last outfit. The color on the pants is so great. And traveling in yoga pants is just smart. I broke my own rule and wore yoga pants like an outfit on Monday. Travis and I saw three movies! I wanted to be comfortable.
