Casual End-of-Summer Outfit: Pink + Denim

Hello and happy Wednesday! I’m back with one more summery outfit before we dive into fall fashion tomorrow!

Casual End of Summer Outfit: Pink + Denim

I didn’t intend to post two cold shoulder tops in a row. Heck, I didn’t even intend to post another summer outfit this year, lol! But we snapped a few shots of this outfit yesterday morning for Instagram, and I liked them so much that I decided to do a blog post too.

Casual End of Summer Outfit: Pink + Denim

I had a few requests for end-of-summer “shop your closet” posts so I thought I’d show another way to wear this cute top. You may remember it from when I styled it with white jean shorts and studded gladiator sandals.

I liked it with white, but I also really like it with blue jeans. I think the pink and blue play off each other beautifully. These are my AG skinnies that came from Trunk Club, and I cuffed them into a single wide cuff for a summery feel.

For a similar pair for less, these Joe’s Ankle Skinny Jeans are on sale for $99. I have tried them on, and they’re very similar to the AG. For an even more budget-friendly version, take a look at these Articles of Society ‘Sarah’ Skinny Jeans for $54.

For accessories, I’m wearing my Stella & Dot Eternity Necklace and a stack of Alex and Ani bangles in both silver and gold. I’m a huge fan of mixed metals right now!

I had hoped this top would be on sale by now, but unfortunately it’s still full price. It also comes in grey, white, and navy, and I was thinking the grey one would be nice to have going into fall.

I threw on my favorite Miller sandals and grabbed this faux leather saddle crossbody. It’s a great little bag for $45, if you’re looking for something trendy and affordable. It comes in cognac and black.

So who’s ready for fall? It’s been hotter than normal here in Philly this summer, and I’m ready for some milder temperatures. Now that the kids are back in school, it seems like it’s about time. Plus, there is no air conditioning in our elementary school, and my daughter comes home every day complaining about the heat.

I’m getting ready to start clearing out some of my summer clothes to make room for fall, so I’ll be putting some things up for sale on @shopjolynnescloset this week. Keep an eye on that, if you like to shop my closet. Most of my clothing is size small or medium, and my shoes are 8 or 8 1/2. Of course, handbags and jewelry are one size fits all!

  1. Very cute outfit! I live in South Texas and can not imagine a school without air conditioning. Hope your kids have a fantastic school year and hope it cools off for them soon 🙂

    1. It is pretty unheard of around here too. In fact, they are currently building a new school to replace our elementary school. They move over Christmas break. My daughter is so excited.

  2. I’m a little obsessed with hair right now since I’m looking for a change, what do you ask for at hairdressers? I like that you can still put it in ponytail. You always look great, even running!

    1. I usually bring pictures of what I want, although my hair hasn’t changed much over the years. I just go up and down, longer and shorter, It’s very thin, so I can’t grow it long, but I don’t like short hair on me, so I don’t have a lot of options. A good hair dresser can give direction too.

  3. LOVE LOVE LOVE the shirt. I was waiting for it to go on sale. Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. That color is so pretty on you!

  4. I’m so looking forward to your fall fashion series with Cyndi. I read both of your posts every day and you give so many great ideas on how to put together things that I already have in my closet or buy because of your recommendation. My latest purchase were the Paige Aubergine skinnies during the Nordstrom sale. I love them! I also love my AG skinnies…never thought I’d pay that much for denim, but I have to say that they really are worth it if you can afford them.

That said, one of your readers commented that she had good luck with the Old Navy Rockstar legging jeans, so I thought I’d try them out. They are amazing for the price (got mine for just under $30 Cdn)! I bought them thinking that I’d wear them when I didn’t want to worry about getting them dirty etc, but I like them so much I’ve even worn them to work on Fridays. Thought I’d share with your readers that are maybe looking for something at a lower price level. For size reference, I’m 5’3″, 120 lbs and wear a 28 in both Paige and AG and bought a size 6 from Old Navy. Cheers!

  5. Jo-lynne,
I received about 10 old email posts today from you. Just thought you might want to know. I thought boy she has been busy. Can’t wait for the fall posts.

  6. I just wanted to tell you the same thing! I got about 20! From 2007,2009 all different dates! I read a few… but couldn’t keep up!! LOL! The all came in as “New Post”! I did enjoy the one about the deer on the way to your nail appt!!

  7. Hi Jo-Lynne – I love the pink top. And I know you’ve probably already answered this a million times before, but what size do you have/how does sizing run for that top? Thanks!
