My favorite way to do casual holiday style is to dress up blue jeans with a festive sweater and heels. The key to making this look work is to wear a great-fitting pair of jeans, and these skinny jeans are seriously impressive for $20. They look every bit as good dressed up with heels for a festive holiday dinner as they do cuffed with ankle boots at the pumpkin patch.

Riders® by Lee® set out to design a pair of jeans that is affordable and allows women to look and feel their best, and their Bounce Back Denim does exactly that. They promise to keep their shape all day without bagging or sagging, and after wearing them for a few hours, they looked just as good as they did when I put them on. That’s something I can’t say for many higher-priced brands I’ve tried. Jeans that bag out after a couple hours of wear are one of my biggest pet peeves. These don’t have the super soft feel of premium denim, but they look great, and they’re comfortable and on trend.

I also really like the length of these skinnies. They’re a bit longer than some of the jeans I wear, which helps elongate the legs and makes me look taller and thinner than some of the shorter styles. They come in long and petite sizes, so you can find the length that is right for you.

Nothing says holiday festive like red, so I decided to top my jeans with a red sweater. I considered wearing pumps with this outfit, but then I thought it would be fun to turn it up another notch with these glittery black crossover sandals. They’re a fun way to jazz up basic jeans and a sweater and make them festive for the holiday season. They would also be gorgeous with a cocktail dress if you have a more formal party to attend.

I carried an embellished clutch to keep the look festive, but any smaller bag would work fine for dinner out with your honey or for a casual at-home party with friends. Finally, I added some blingy chandelier earrings to finish off this holiday look.

  1. Lee jeans! They were my go to for a decade or more, much more than a decade or more ago. I like that they have reinvented the brand. I’ll have to try on a pair!

Thanks for the budget friendly post!

  2. I wonder when I see posts like this if you would actually wear these jeans or only doing the review because of a partnership. Due to the other items on your blog being so high end, it seems a bit off to me. I am happy to see budget-friendly items that the vast majority of us require but can’t help but wonder if this endorsement is genuine?

    1. It’s a fair question, and I don’t mind explaining. 🙂 I get occasional requests for more budget-friendly looks, so when Lee reached out to me initially, I asked to vet the jeans first to see if I felt I could authentically recommend them. I was truly impressed with the style and quality for the price. As I said in the post, they don’t have the super soft feel of premium denim, but they are flattering, and they do what they say they do — they wear well without stretching out, which is hard to find, honestly, even at higher price points. I did the first post with Lee a few months ago, and I got many comments thanking me for sharing more affordable jeans, so when they reached out again, I was happy to partner up again.

Yes, I tend to wear more high end items, and if my site was just a personal style blog, this post may be out of place. But my goal is for this blog to also be a resource for women with a variety of clothing budgets, so I try to feature a wide variety of price points, and I am committed to only featuring items I can genuinely endorse. I hope that helps clarify where I’m coming from. 🙂

      1. thank you for clarifying. I guess as I saw someone else thought below, the jeans are sort of ill-fitting compared with other jeans you post and that is why I asked the question. They have a wrinkled/pulling/saggy appearance in some areas so that prompted my question. I do appreciate you taking the time to write back!! 🙂

        1. No problem! I’m happy to explain how I choose the brands I partner with and why there is so much diversity among the brands I feature. I don’t expect $20 jeans to look or feel like $200 jeans, but for the price, I think they’re fantastic.

  3. These look cute. $20 is usually my max output for jeans so these are definitely in my price range. I see they are at Walmart and Kmart and I don’t usually look at their clothes but now I’ll keep an eye out.

  4. Lee jeans have always fit me well. My oldest and favorite pair of vintage jeans that I still wear are my Lee jeans. True I don’t think they look as good on you as your expensive jeans, but I have several pair that are my knock-around jeans that can go in the garden and get dirty. I get them at Kmart but they are more than $20.

  5. These are super cute – especially for the price! I’m currently trying to lose weight so I’m trying not to spend too much on jeans at the moments since I’m hoping to drop a size or two in the near future. Two quick questions – do these come in petite sizes? And – do you find they have good coverage in the back even when bending etc? I definitely need to give them a try!

  6. I think these look amazing for the price point. The wash looks beautiful and the fit is great. 🙂
I love the red sweater too! I have this one in camel, and it’s the perfect basic lightweight sweater without being too plain. Super cute!
