Aviator Inspired Fall Outfit

Over the past few months as a Maui Jim brand ambassador, I’ve had the opportunity to try out a variety of their sunglasses and style them with various outfits.

I was already a huge fan of the brand before I agreed to team up with them in this capacity, but after wearing their sunnies almost exclusively for the past six months, I’m definitely a customer for life. The quality is bar none, and they’ve done a great job with keeping their styles up to date yet classic.

For my final post in this series, I’m styling a fall outfit inspired by the Maui Jim Mavericks in Gloss Black.

These sunglasses are so incredibly lightweight, it’s almost like they aren’t even on my face. And yet, as light as they are, they feel very sturdy when you open and close them.

They have the MauiPure lenses, which are the lightest weight choice; and as with all of their lenses, the PolarizedPlus2® technology goes beyond shielding your eyes from glare and harmful UV rays and actually enhances the world’s true colors.

They’re also good for cloudy days such as the one when we shot these photos. The neutral grey lenses offer the highest light reduction for rich color and contrast, and they help combat that sun glare you can get on those oddly bright but cloudy days.

As for the frames, I like how they have that classic aviator shape, but they’re a bit larger than some other styles so they offer great coverage and sun protection even though they’re a more minimalistic style.

As an added bonus, they also look great perched atop the head. I always check this angle when I’m trying new sunglasses. Am I the only one?

These sunnies inspired me to put together a casual look with a classy but edgy vibe to compliment the chic black frames and ultra cool aviator style. I decided that called for an outfit with my black leather moto jacket.

I decided olive skinny jeans would be fun for a change, and I wore a striped tee to brighten up the otherwise dark outfit.

I finished off the look with black ankle boots and a black satchel (which somehow I had turned around backwards in every. single. picture.) *insert the monkey emoji with her hands over her eyes*

The oiled black suede has the durability of leather and adds to the cool, edgy vibe, and the stacked wood heel adds interest.

Whether you’re on the beach in the summertime or hiking through the woods enjoying the fall hues, the world always looks better through Maui Jims.

  1. Oh my. I LOVE these aviators. And I’m a huge Maui Jim fan. And what a great outfit! Thank you for sharing, Jo-Lynne.

  2. What a great edgy look on you Jo-Lynne!  And the area where the pictures were taken looks so quaint.  I hope you are able to get a run in today.  Sending blessings your way!

  3. I try not to put sunglasses on top of my head because it really stretches them out – the top of your head is wider than your face.  I tend to wear the same pair for years.  ????

  4. My heart hurts so much for TX. Praying for them. I need rx sunglasses. I wonder if you can get frames only. Love those. .

  5. I have one pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and LOVE them. They are amazing at reducing glare. I think they help with depth perception too as colors are so distinct. I found your posts of the various styles helpful and would love to add to my collection. My hubby wears them on his motorcycle and swears by them.
On another note- I Love your classy with an edge vibe look today. It’s a look I want to copy. Have the jacket, wanted the tee (love the upper arm slits). Lucky. Rand is our do my size though. The jeans, booties and purse are perfect with this vibe. And… yes, I noticed your nail polish.

  6. I have shown pictures before, but nothing lately. I hang as much as I can. I can see it all better that way. I also have shelves in my closet where I fold my sweaters. I definitely move things out with each season. I store them in bins in the attic. 🙂
