White Lace Sheath Dress #FashionFriday

When I heard I was going to be attending a party “en blanc” at rewardStyle the Conference in Dallas earlier this month, I immediately went on high alert. I scoured the internet for the perfect white outfit, but as it turned out, it was my stylist at Trunk Club who hit the jackpot with this Ali & Jay Lace Sheath Dress. The second I put it on, I knew it was “the one.”

Ali & Jay Lace Sheath Dress in White $128 // Sam Edelman Patti Sandals in Nude Patent $100
Lawson Openwork Wrist Cuff c/o Kendra Scott $120 // Alila Lace Chandeliers $44
Kate Spade Gamercy Watch $225 // similar Kate Spade crossbody $148

I love the simplicity of the cut, yet the crisscrossed banded waistline gives this stretchy floral lace cocktail dress a contemporary spin, and the illusion cap sleeves are super flattering.

When I got to Dallas, I found out there was a photographer doing fashion shoots so I immediately signed up. I knew we could get pictures of this outfit here at home, but I really wanted at least one on-location photo shoot while I was there — I mean, it was a fashion blogging conference, after all! I’m so happy that this is the outfit we shot on location since it’s the only one I bought specifically for that event.

Megan was a dream to work with. It was raining (obviously) so our location options were limited, but we made do under the awning in front of the hotel, and then we took a few more shots indoors for good measure. I ended up liking both locations, so I’m including a few of each.

I first tried the dress with nude pumps, but I ended up wearing it with these beige patent strappy sandals — the Patti by Sam Edelman. These are soooo much more comfortable to walk in, and I think the delicate styling compliments the lace dress perfectly. The heel is a modest 3-inches (I actually think it’s a bit less) and the strap around the ankle holds them securely in place. I struggle to wear pumps comfortably, so these are the perfect solution.

I scored mine on sale at Nordstrom for $75, but now they are only available at that price in black patent as well as Pop Fuchsia and Sailor Blue suede. I’ll definitely be wearing these all summer long when I want a dressy shoe.

The Alila Lace Chandeliers are new this spring from Stella & Dot. I thought they were the perfect compliment to the lacy dress.

The cuff bracelet was gifted from Kendra Scott at the conference, and it was the perfect surprise addition to this outfit. I carried my new Kate Space crossbody that I picked up on their 70% off sale a few weeks ago. This one is similar, but alas, not on sale.

I bought this dress thinking I might only get to wear it once, but I’m attending the Iris Awards Party at the Mom 2.0 Summit tonight, so I’ll actually get a second chance to wear it. WOOT!

If you have a dressy occasion coming up this summer, you might want to consider this dress. It’s also available in black, and it retails for $128. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

  1. Absolutely classy-you look great!!! I love this dress and love the pure white., the fit, the length. I can’t do creams or beige because of my skin tone. Which makes it very challenging to find. Too, love the style of your shoes, but can’t pull off the small ankle strap. I need a pair of dressy, simple summer sandals, any suggestions??

  2. So perfectly put together with that darling clutch and white fingernails! Wow! You look like a million bucks!

  3. This outfit looks amazing on you. Very flattering. I’m thinking of ordering it in black for a fall wedding. It says it’s a fitted dress but was wondering if you felt it was clingy where it would show all the bumps and jiggly parts, if you know what I mean. Did you need to wear a strapless bra and/or shape wear with this dress?

    1. Hi Rose, it is tight and stretchy, but not exactly clingy, if that makes sense. I felt like it was forgiving for a tight, stretchy dress. It is fully lined. I wore a regular bra, and I did wear shapewear. Mine is by Wacoal but I don’t see it on the website. It’s sort of like this: https://bit.ly/1VXPYxO

  4. What a beautiful white dress! Perfect for spring. I am currently on the hunt for my “perfect” white dress as I have an “all-white” event in June. Thanks for sharing and for hosting the link up as well 🙂

  5. Gorgeous. Elegant, classy, modern, sexy (am allowed to say that, lol) but not too revealing! Difficult to find all those things combined in a white dress, in my very limited experience.
Love your clutch too. Do you know a brand called Modalu? It’s British and they do pretty much the identical bag. Don’t know who copied whom there! But makes me happy as I can’t always find the things you model or recommend here in the UK.

  6. Simply Gorgeous!!! You rock this white dress and your choice of accessories was perfect! Thank you for sharing Jo-Lynne!

  7. This dress is gorgeous! How fun to do a photoshoot with a pro at the conference! Love the shoes!!! xx-S

  8. When I saw you in this dress in your post last week, I HAD to go out and get it to wear to my daughter’s college graduation. So beautiful! Thank you for the accessory tips this week.

  9. Very pretty dress!! I wish I could find one similar but with either a tad more sleeve or sleeveless. I feel cap sleeves make my shoulders look too broad…kinda like Linda Evans and Joan Collins from the Dynasty days of TV. Lol. 🙂

  10. Hi JoLynne, you look stunning in this dress. Keep it up. It fits you perfect and the shoes really compliment the look.
Can you post some more chick casual outfits involving more casual sneakers, like kind of adidas superstars, san smiths or nike frees. I see these on a lot of outfits and its interesting what you could compare them with.
    Thanks keep it up.

    1. Thanks, Kim!! I actually ordered the Adidas Superstars and returned them. They felt so clunky to me. 🙂 I’d like to try them again, though. Or maybe the Nike Frees.

  11. Yes, you can go a smaller size than you normally wear and will fit perfectly. Or maybe the adidas gazelle. They are more sleeky than superstars.

Yes nike frees are stylish to wear with alot of outfits, most of which you already post.
Looking forward to see you pairing some kind of sneakers with your outfits ideas.
