Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

I know it’s still a few weeks away, but let’s discuss Valentine’s Day outfit ideas!

what to wear valentines day

We usually go out to dinner for Valentine’s Day, but here in the frozen tundra of Pennsylvania, I have to walk a fine line between style and function because it’s cold, yo!

You know me, I’m most comfortable in pants; but it’s fun to wear a dress every once in a while, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to break out a dress. White House Black Market is usually my go-to for dresses, but they don’t have much in red right now. I’m pretty literal when it come to Valentine’s Day. I like the idea of wearing red or pink, but you certainly can’t go wrong with a LBD.

In fact, this Convertible Drawstring Dress that I wore to my husband’s company holiday party is back in stock, and it’s only $98. I would love to get more use out of it, so maybe I’ll wear it for Valentine’s Day.

If it’s super cold that night, I could wear this dress with tights my black wedge boots. It’s a good thing I have that gorgeous silver puffer coat to keep me warm. I’ve been getting some good use out of that this week! It’s been frigid here in Philly.

And how awesome is this fuchsia glitter clutch with a LBD for Valentine’s Day!?!Natasha Couture Glitter Clutch

White House Black Market also has this gorgeous Lace Sheath, but it has a steeper price tag at $180. It would also be stunning with that fuchsia clutch.

This CHAPS Faux Wrap Dress is gorgeous, and just $59 at Kohl’s. Plus, yay for sleeves! The neckline provides a great canvas for a statement necklace.

And how about this Maggy London Illusion Yoke Crepe Sheath Dress?? This is a great look for Valentine’s Day, and it comes in both Regular and Petite sizes. I’d wear it with sheer skin-colored hose and nude pumps and a great pair of dangly earrings.

Of course, I’m always a fan of pants and a cute top. For a more casual venue, this Trouvé Silk Blouse is adorable. I envision it front-tucked into a pair of dark jeans with leopard pumps. You could also wear it with ponte knit pants or even a pencil skirt. If you don’t like the red, it is also available in black, burgundy, grey, ivory, and navy.

That type of look would also work for a Valentine’s Day night in. If you’re staying home and celebrating with your family, you will still want to have a festive outfit, yes??

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day this year??

  1. This year, we are going to see a Broadway touring show and we also got a hotel room. I have no idea what I’m wearing yet. Definitely not a dress as it is always a hike from the parking lot to the theatre in bitter cold temperatures. Last Valentine’s Day was so cold, it was unbearable. Love you LBD!

    1. UGGGGHHHH… the one time we went to a Broadway show (December) it was sooo cold I thought I was going to DIE standing out there in line waiting for it to open. DEFINITELY dress warm. No one was dressed up.

  2. You look hot in that black dress! We usually have a casual VD, but these are all lovely suggestions! I’ve been following the storm that’s going to hit your area. All I can say is, “hunker down”!
North Ga is forecasted to get 6-8 inches, but where I live they’re saying a trace up to 2 inches.
    Stay warm and safe!!

    P.S. Your bedroom looks lovely!
