Update Your Summer Style with Maui Jim

One of the fastest and easiest ways to update your summer style is with a pair of great sunglasses. You can be wearing the trendiest and most put-together outfit, but if your sunnies are outdated the whole look falls flat.

I’m excited to be partnering with Maui Jim as a brand ambassador this year, and today I’m styling a summer outfit inspired by my new favorite pair of shades.

Right now, the trend in sunglasses is go big or go home. The Maui Jim Orchid with their oversized plastic tortoise frames and ultra thin bronze reflective lenses are the perfect mix of form and function to update your look and protect your eyes in comfort and style.

Mine are the Tortoise with Peacock. How fun are these??? I love the surprise of the peacock blue on the inside. (And they actually match the park bench I was sitting on, which I didn’t even notice until I started editing these pictures. Too funny.)

For such large sunglasses, these are incredibly lightweight. This is due to the Maui Jim SuperThin Glass technology that is 20% thinner and lighter than standard glass. It also provides the best optics available so my view through these lenses is crystal clear.

When I tried on my first pair of Maui Jims last summer, the first thing I noticed was how clear and brilliant everything looked through their lenses. They have several different lens options available, and each has its own unique set of benefits.

These are the HCL Bronze lenses. They provide a beautiful warm tint and are ideal for everyday use. As with all Maui Jim sunglasses, the lenses feature their PolarizedPlus2 technology to shield your eyes from glare and harmful UV rays. That makes these great driving sunglasses as well as the ones you want to bring along when you’re going to be outdoors in bright sunlight for extended periods of time.

One thing I really like about this particular style is the embedded rubber nose pad. I’ve never seen that on plastic frames. It really helps these sunglasses stay in place, plus it’s more comfortable than the plain plastic. It’s just another example of how Maui Jim goes out of their way to think of every detail to make the user experience as enjoyable as possible.

For today’s outfit, I’m wearing a chambray tie-waist top with my favorite distressed white skinnies. I love pairing chambray and white for summertime; it’s so crisp and fresh.

This is the type of outfit I like to wear when I’m going to a casual gathering or a cookout on days that aren’t super hot. I’d swap out the jeans for shorts on really hot days. The gold sandals and straw bottom tote compliment this summery look, and my sunnies keep the whole look modern and on trend.

  1. Do you color your hair? I am about your hair color but slowly getting gray as I reach 40. Wondering if you color it yourself or have it done

  2. Can you post something soon about your current eating plan, recipes, meals? Id love an update!

  3. I love the complete look! I love the sunglasses, but since I cannot go without my eye glasses, I need to have either prescription sunglasses or sunglasses that fit over my eye glasses. It’s another hot day down here. I know you love the heat, but I’m ready for Fall.

    1. Ginger Hiller, bite your tongue!!! (haha!!!) Fall? Just no. Summer just got here to PA. There were a few weeks there when I thought I would never be warm again. So you probably know this, but Maui Jim also has prescription lenses. My eye doc actually sells their frames in his shop. 🙂

      1. I did not know that they make prescription sunglasses, so thanks for telling me. I will check them out, for sure! I knew you’d comment on me wanting it to be Fall. Your weather preference is definitely suited to live further south than where you are now. Enjoy!

  4. You’re email was perfect. I feel the exact same about the pool…I’ve paid my dues and #4 is our GLORIOUS reward. So yes, mama’s of littles, HANG IN THERE. Your day is coming. Love this darling outfit. Cute, cute chambray top and the tie is darling. I’ve developed a sunglasses habit myself, but mine are all prescription with bifocals. Hello old lady eyes. Luckily for me we have killer eye insurance and I’ve amassed quite the collection of designer sunnies from Prada to Jimmy Choo. Too bad our health coverage isn’t as good as our eye, but hey! I’ll take what I can get.

    1. That’s awesome! I’m so glad they have such stylish prescription sunglasses options. I have a pair, myself, but I find it such a pain to switch back and forth, I usually wear contacts when I want to wear sunglasses. 🙂

  5. I just had to comment that I bought the Lucky Brand bag you styled the other day for $85! on that particular day (or maybe the next day) they had a 50% off sale so I snagged it! I am going to have to look at Maui Jim prescription sunnies as well. I have prescription Ray Bans and love them except the lenses do not have the Ray Ban logo on them (First Work problems)

    Love you blog!

  6. I so agree about the sunglasses updating your look into noticed it in some pictures I had taken at Disney same outfit changed my sunglasses that day totally looked better.

  7. Love Maui Jim’s! I have some similar to the one’s you are styling they are the best! They can also do presciptions

  8. So cute. I love chambray tops with white. Perfect. You look great. 🙂 I have to wear prescription sunglasses and this time of year is a real pain. Its on and off all day with regular glasses to sunglasses. I hate it. Its especially hard when sightseeing and in and out of places all day. 🙁 But, I am mostly far sighted, so to get contacts really wouldn’t be that great of an idea for me. Love your sunglasses you are modeling. Keep up the great work. 🙂

  9. This look is pure, understated class. I LOVE it. You look a million dollars.
I’m pregnant with my third now, and thought I wouldn’t spend on maternity jeans, but I just have to get a white pair! Can’t survive the summer without, don’t even care if my kids make them dirty. Lol.

  10. Maui Jim sunglasses are the best! I’ve had two different pairs over the last 20+ years. Well worth the investment, and they have a guarantee whereby you can get lenses, nose pieces replaced for a minimal fee after the initial warranty. If they don’t any longer have replacement pieces they offer another pair of glasses. I have a pair that’s very similar to the pair you’re wearing, just a little smaller frame. The turquoise on the inside is a happy color!! Oh, and if you have trouble driving in the rain or at night put on your Maui Jim’s to help make visibility clearer.

  11. This whole outfit screams summer. I really like how you styled it from head to toe with all of the gold. Could you please tell me about your bracelets as they caught my eye? You look amazing!!
