The Best Beauty Gifts for the Holidays

I love giving beauty gifts because they’re practical and they always fit, so I’ve rounded up a variety of beauty products that I personally love or covet. Everything here is something I highly recommend, and you know me, I’ll tell you why.

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve // thirteen // fourteen // fifteen // sixteen

My holiday gift guides are coming out three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Be sure you’re subscribed to my daily email newsletters so you don’t miss any!

2021 Best Beauty Gifts

I tried to include a range of price points, so hopefully this is useful! Also, right now Macy’s has 15% off Beauty with code FRIEND, and Nordstrom is offering Nordy Club Members 2X points on Beauty through October 31. And if both stores carry an item, Nordstrom is price matching AND you can get your double points on that purchase.

#1. IT Cosmetics Luxe Skin-Loving Brush Set (also at Macy’s) // IT Cosmetics makes some of the best makeup brushes, and this set includes all the essentials.

#2. RevitaLash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner (also at Amazon) // I started using this a few months ago, and the results are tremendous. My lashes are so long and thick now, I have to go easy on mascara or I look ridiculous for everyday life. It’s pricey, but it does last a while.

#3. Wet n Wild Color Icon 10-Pan Makeup Palette // I just watched a makeup tutorial on YouTube with this palette, and it looked pretty good so I ordered it to try. If you’re looking for stocking stuffers or a lower priced eye shadow palette to fill a gift basket, this is a great price point, and the colors are really pretty.

#4. Aquis Original Hair Towel // This is another product I’ve been using for years, and I include it in almost every beauty-related gift guide because it’s both indulgent and practical. I like to keep two of these handy — one to wash, and one to use. They are much gentler on your hair than a terry cloth towel, and they’re more practical too because they’re the perfect size for putting your hair in a turban. I even travel with one now.

#5. tarte Salt Lyfe Lip Wardrobe // tarte has so many good gift sets for the holidays, so be sure to check them all out. I picked this one to feature because I love the assortment of products, and the cool mauve color. Also, it’s good to know that tarte products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, or gluten; and they provide free shipping and free returns on all orders.

#6. CND SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care // I’ve shared many times how this cuticle oil keeps my nails healthy and strong even though I keep a gel manicure on all the time. It makes a good stocking stuffer or addition to a nail-themed gift basket.

#7. LANEIGE All Nighter Lip Set // Sephora always has fun holiday gift sets, and this one features my favorite lip balm. I apply this every night before bed, and it keeps my lips from peeling and cracking. This set includes the original berry, plus two holiday flavors — gingersnap and peppermint.

#8. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (15% off at Macy’s & Nordstrom) // The holy grail of cleansing balms from a clean beauty brand developed and manufactured in England. I’m sure you’ve heard me say it many times, but using this product is like having a spa experience at home, and I love how it comes with a cleansing cloth. It makes a lovely indulgent gift, or maybe just stock up on one or two for yourself while it’s on sale!

#9. Tartelette In Bloom Clay Palette // This is my go-to eye shadow palette for everyday and date night looks. It has such great pigmentation, it lasts all day without fading, and it doesn’t settle into fine lines and creases. tarte products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, or gluten; and they provide free shipping and free returns on all orders.

#10. VASKER Makeup Case // I use this at home to keep my makeup organized, and I take it with me when I travel. I love that you can resize the compartments to fit your needs. It comes in three sizes, but the smallest one has plenty of room for me.

#11. Olaplex Healthy Hair Essential // The popular hair care regiment in a limited edition gifting set, perfect for those concerned with keeping their beauty products clean.

#12. simplehuman 8″ Round Sensor Makeup Mirror // Another one of my holy grail beauty products that I’ve recommended over and over, this magnifying lighted makeup mirror makes a generous gift. It’s one of those things that you will never want to be without, once you’ve tried it.

#13. L’Occitane Almond Holiday Collection // I’m a longtime fan of this shower gel, and the hand cream and body cream are really good too. I love how they’ve put them together in a festive boxed set for holiday gift giving!

#14. Sephora Favorites Lipstick & Lip Balm Set // Another one of Sephora’s holiday gift sets, this one is a five-piece collection of bestselling lipsticks and lip balms in holiday shades, including full-size lip products from Nars, Huda Beauty, and Summer Fridays and deluxe minis lipsticks from Yves Saint Lauren and Clinique.

#15.Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray Set // My favorite setting spray, and this set of two full sized bottles comes in a beautiful gift box.

#16. Dyson Corrale Straightener (also at Ulta & Sephora) // Probably the most coveted beauty tool of the year, this hair straightener has flexing copper plates that are designed to give you more control along with less heat, reduced frizz, and fewer flyaways. It also gives you up to 30 minutes of cord-free styling, and it fully recharges in 70 minutes.

This one’s a little shorter than some of my gift guides, but I hope you find the perfect gift or two for someone on your list. I’ll be back on Thursday with my luxe gift guide full of indulgent gives for the woman who has everything!

  1. A lot of my house is still stuck in the ’90’s when it was built; tend to stick with classic pieces and love the blue’s in decor; never seems to go out of style. I, too love to take ideas and incorporate into my home. I still do my own painting if it gets done. Thank you for any input.

  2. I can’t wait to read more about today’s beauty picks! But going back to your outdoor gear post … have you worn the Backcountry pullover while running? I love the front zip pocket, just wondering about the pocket size and construction. Does it securely hold a phone?
Shoulder zips are new to me, but it’s an interesting idea. Thanks for all the research! Happy to hear that Paul is feeling well and you guys are getting out to explore your area. Nothing like being laid up to make you appreciate physical activity!

    1. Hey Pam, I didn’t put anything in the pocket but it should definitely be secure b/c it zips up. The shoulder zips are for ventilation, when you start to get overheated. Very convenient!

  3. Great list! I have added a few things to my Amazon and Macy’s wish lists…for me! I especially like the makeup case. 🤔

  4. Hi Jo-Lynne! Thank you for all your hard working pulling these together this time of year. Much appreciated! I am wanting to order the Black leather Kut from the Kloth jacket you shared awhile back but can’t find what size you were wearing? Should I size up if wanting to wear a sweater underneath? Thanks in advance

  5. How would you compare the Elemis with the Colleen Rothchilds cleansing balms? I’ve used the Colleen one since you first recommended it, as I can do the spa type smell……I’m very sensitive to smells. Do they compare size and price wise, sales offered etc.? Just wondering why you switched over. 🙂 I like how Colleen has 25 % off quite often.
I really like the cosmetic holder too. I’m going to see if the measurements work out to put in my bathroom drawer for convenient use daily. Thanks for all the hard work in putting out these gift guides. I find I want to buy for myself though. LOL

    1. They’re both really good, and I kind of switch back and forth between the two. I think Elemis is my favorite, but I really do find them pretty comparable. I don’t know if CRB is as clean as Elemis, which I recall is important to you. If you can’t do scents, you might like this Clinique. It has no scent at all. https://shopstyle.it/l/bzAut

  6. PS The eyelash conditioner sounds amazing. It is speedy, so maybe the trial size would be best to try first. Do you use it once a day? If you stopped, do you think your eyelash length would go back to as it was before starting? I’d love to see a close up of your lashes sometime without and with mascara. I have a friend who lost her hair and eyelashes years ago…..I believe its called Alopecia. She has no eye lashes, but wondering if she put this along the eye lid if the ingredients would boost any growth. Just a thought. It was a devastating thing for her to go through, but she is a Christian and God has been with her and she has the most natural and beautiful wigs. She does the latest cuts, highlights and her hair always looks great. 🙂 Thanks for this. PS I miss your LIVE videos sessions you use to do. I know they were a lot of work and hard to work around your family. But, they were fun. You always were so gracious to post it the next day for those of us without facebook LIVE.

    1. Yes, once a day at first, and now I only use it a few times a week. Warning, at first, mine grew in at different lengths and looked weird, but eventually they filled in and are all long and thick and fuller than ever. It’s pretty amazing.

I’ve used the Rodan + Fields (it did the different length thing but never got this full and thick) and then I took a break. Then I tried Monat but it didn’t show very dramatic results. I eventually stopped with that b/c it didn’t seem worth the trouble, but then they started to look really short and thin, so I tried the revitalash on a whim, and it’s amazing once I got over the initial adjustment period. It does go on sale from time to time. I got mine on sale.
