Welcome to the Real Food Recipe Roundup, a delicious collaboration between Musings of a Housewife and Sassy Moms in the City!


Summer vacation is in full swing, and I don’t know about you but it’s already kicking my trash. With three kids at home for a whole week with nothing to do, the TV has been on far more often than I’d like to admit. Thank goodness for a pool membership and cooperative weather!!

But on to the important things… like FOOD!

Alison and I are both passionate about feeding our families real food so we’ve partnered up to share our weekly meal plans, and we would love for you to join us!

With that, let me share my featured recipe from last week’s linkup. It comes from Aubrie Cherie. Her Quinoa Pilaf with Chicken sounds and looks delish, don’t you think!? I can’t wait to try it.

Quinoa Pilaf With Chicken

Here’s what we’re eating at my house this week.

Weekly Meal Plan

MONDAY: Quinoa Pilaf with Chicken with a side salad (thanks to my CSA) and my favorite lemon vinaigrette.

TUESDAY: Cheesy Bacon and Gluten Free Grilled Red Potatoes from Gluten Free Mom to Be with fried eggs. I mean, you can’t go wrong with bacon, cheese and potatoes.

WEDNESDAY: nitrate-free organic hot dogs and a side salad. I need easy; my son has a baseball game.

THURSDAY: Halibut with Beurre Blanc from Nina Planck’s The Real Food Cookbook, which was sent to me for review. I made it last week, and it was such a hit, I’m making it again!

FRIDAY: pizza takeout; my daughter has a piano recital AND my son has baseball. (Busy much!?)

SATURDAY: Finally, a free night! My parents will be here so we will probably do something on the grill if the weather is cooperative. Let’s go with Tequila Lime Chicken, rice and a salad.
