Plaid, Camel & White Jeans for Fall

Good morning, friends! TGIF! Today I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share another way to wear white jeans for fall. I wore a variation of this outfit to church a few weeks ago, and I got several compliments.

For this look, I paired my camel cashmere sweater with white jeans and chestnut over-the-knee boots.

This scarf is perfect over beige and camel tones. I’m a huge fan of the infinity scarf because it takes the guesswork out of styling. You just throw it on, wrap it twice, and go!

As a woman who is, ahem, blessed in the chest area, scarves can add bulk and visual weight, so I’ve learned that they look best if I allow them to hang longer — almost to the waist. To achieve this with an infinity scarf, I usually leave one loop shorter and make the other one longer. I just play with it until it looks right.

I love wearing white jeans this time of year because it’s unexpected, and they add a crispness to any outfit. The key to pulling off white jeans for fall is to pair them with heavier pieces in fall colors. Not only did I pair them with a long-sleeve cashmere sweater, but I added over the knee boots and a scarf — lest anyone wonder if I think it’s July! Ha!

I’ve had a few people ask about what white jeans I recommend, and these Paige Verdugos offer great coverage.

For white jeans at a lower price point, these from Two by Vince Camuto get pretty good reviews. The great thing about ordering from Nordstrom is you can order a few and return the ones that don’t work out for free.

I love how this teal crossbody coordinates with the teal in the scarf.

Finally, these over the knee boots were a sale purchase last winter, and I am so glad I went for it. I was unsure about this trend, maybe I’m too old or they’re too edgy or something, but I absolutely love them.

Mine are by Dolce Vita and they are incredibly comfortable — leather inside and out, but they’ve been discontinued. This pair is similar, and I like this pair a lot for a knee-high option.

  1. Love this combo! Both sweaters are so gorgeous. Camel is one of my favorites, but it can be so tricky to wear, can’t it? I can’t seem to help myself even though it’s not the best color for me. I’m picturing that checked asos scarf pairing nicely with this too. 😉

  2. Jolynne, maybe this would help you on your sweaters and many other things. Try finding a hand held steamer at Bed Bath and Beyond. They really come in handy.
    Hope this will help. Belinda

  3. I love this color combination! I have a camel colored sweater on its way here and now I know what to do with it. Thanks for the idea. 🙂 I look forward to your Winter Fashion Series with Cyndi.

  4. LOVE! This may be one of my favorite fall combos! I’m too short for OTK boots but I am so going to copy this outfit!! Thank you for your great ideas! Have a great weekend!

  5. Stunning combo of colors! The white jeans make the outfit really pop! I caved & packed mine away! Yet another perfect 10! And the background is really beautiful. Enjoy the weekend! Looking forward to you & Cyndi doing your winter fashion series!

  6. I really love this look! I prefer the Halogen sweater, especially with the side slits. I got the boots but have yet to wear them. Have a great weekend!

  7. Love this outfit, JoLynn. Camel is a great color to pair other things with and I guess I really didn’t think about that. I have always steered away from it, because it doesn’t look goo with my complexion, but you are right! By pairing it with a scarf or a vest in a different color it would be the perfect neutral. Absolutely love your boots. You look so long and lean in the outfit. Love your posts! Thanks for sharing and for hosting the link up. – Amy

  8. I love the white and camel combination! The scarf you added is perfect! Isn’t it annoying how hard it can be finding something that should be as basic as a great camel sweater? I think the one you found is perfect!

  9. Ok. I hope Nordstrom appreciates you! I am ordering that scarf!! I LOVE it! I agree an infinity style is much easier for me to style. This is my first Nordstrom purchase even though I’ve been planning to order for a while. Their free shipping both ways sure is the tipping point for me. Thanks for bringing such great looks and shopping outlets to our attention. I’ve also been contemplating a Trunk Club but haven’t pulled the trigger on that yet.

  10. I love this look-it’s perfect for fall! On another note, since you love leopard, would you consider styling leopard ankle boots? Most photos I see on Pinterest show leopard boots styled with mini skirts or leather pants, which just doesn’t work for my over 40 body or lifestyle. But I would love to see you style leopard ankle boots casually with jeans! ????

  11. I love camel with white so much! I can’t wait to break out my camel sweater, but it’s been so darn hot here. I love the idea of the plaid scarf with it. I’m definitely trying that. The backdrop of your photos is stunning!

  12. I really like this look! Camel-colored sweaters are so classic. I like the length of the infinity scarf you styled. I am very busty and have to be careful about wearing infinity scarves as they definitely add bulk to the top half if they are shorter in length. Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂 Melissa

  13. I was going to say I rather preferred the Halogen piece too. It hangs better, and doesn’t wrap where it shouldn’t. The colour is also much more pleasant 🙂 unfortunately, with the way the weather is here in Houston, I don’t foresee wearing anything remotely Fall/Winterish for quite some time. Sigh.

p/s My weekly Project Sister Act Link-Up is now live on the blog, and I’d love for you to come by and join in xoxo

  14. Oh, you have just given me inspiration on what to wear this weekend when we hosts friends. I love this white denim and camel look. Gorgeous photos, btw!! Love the OTK boots too!

  15. Love the outfit. Being vertically challenged, i don’t think the OTK boots are for me, but I think they look great on you. Love the white jeans.

I’m not going to go for the OTK boot, I’ve decided but I’m all about camel color coats, bags, etc.. Looking at some coats. Takes me back to my mother’s winter coat when I was a kid. This is a lovely outfit and I enjoy how you have brought white into fall in a few of your posts.
