Omni Independence Park

A few weeks ago I went into Philadelphia for a one-day conference called Bloggy Bootcamp. The night before, I happened to have a fun cocktail party hosted by the fabulous ladies behind Girls Lunch Out. SO. The conundrum: to drive in and out of the city two days in a row? Or to stay overnight?

I decided I’d rather not do all that driving, and besides, when do you get the opportunity to stay in a hotel in your own city? Not very often, that’s when. So I reached out to the Omni and stayed overnight at the Omni Independence Park hotel, right smack dab in the middle of historic Philadelphia and sandwiched between Society Hill and Old City.

For anyone visiting Philadelphia to tour the historic sites, this hotel is in a prime location.

In true Omni style, this posh luxury hotel exudes charm and elegance.

And in true Jo-Lynne style, I took lots of pictures!

They even had fresh Starbucks coffee waiting for me in the lobby when I got downstairs at 6am to go for a jog around the city.

I stayed in a standard room with a king-size bed. Even the standard rooms are well appointed with a cozy sitting area, desk and dresser.

And the bed. Ohhh . . . that bed. I could have gladly hung out in that plush bed all evening.

The only thing that surpassed the comfort of the bed was the view out my windows.

I’ve stayed at many a downtown hotel, from Seattle to New York City, and rarely (if ever) have I had a view like I had at the Omni Independence Park.

The Omni at Independence Park is an old hotel, so bear that in mind. The rooms are smaller than many luxury hotels, and the lobby area isn’t as spacious as some, such as the Omni where we stayed in Washington D.C., but you don’t feel cramped. The decor is a traditional European style and subtly elegant, but not tired.

I enjoyed dining at the Azalea Restaurant on the third floor of the hotel before heading off to my conference. Coffee was served in these formal china teacups.

And breakfast was as delicious as it was beautiful.

I was delighted to learn that they source much of their food locally.

The convenience of the Omni Independence Park can’t be matched. It is located within a couple blocks of the Liberty Bell, U.S. Mint, Independence Hall and the Benjamin Franklin House and just 10 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport. It is also surrounded by fabulous restaurants and plenty of nightlife for those so inclined.
