Non-Candy Easter Basket Ideas

non candy easter basket fillers

Every year at about this time, I start panicking about what to put in my kids’ Easter baskets. I’ve shared before that growing up, my parents didn’t do Easter baskets, but it was a tradition that I easily adopted when we had our own kids. It’s definitely not the focus of our celebration, but it’s a fun cultural tradition that I can easily get behind. I mean, let’s be honest. Any tradition that includes chocolate is a tradition I can get behind!

Of course, my real-food, anti-sugar stance rather put a damper on things in recent years. Don’t get me wrong, we eat plenty of sugar around here — way more than we need, I’m sure. But I try to keep the sweet treats to a minimum and fill the Easter baskets with primarily non-edible goodies.

I’m always on the look out for fun non-candy Easter basket ideas, and several brands have sent me products to review for just that purpose. I was not paid for this post, but some of these products were provided to me so I can write a candid review, and I often use affiliate links when linking to products for purchase. Hopefully this list will be helpful as you shop to fill your Easter baskets!

Littlest Pet Shop Magic Motion Minka Mark Art Studio Playset

Littlest Pet Shop Magic Motion Minka Mark Art Studio Playset

Fans can help Minka paint in her studio, and when she’s tired, can put her in her hammock where she really closes her eyes to nap! She never lounges for long, though – MINKA MARK can hang upside-down on her monkey bars, swing in her swing set, and fans can help feed MINKA MARK when she’s hungry for a banana snack.

My daughter is obsessed with this Littlest Pet Shop playset. She’s a huge fan of Littelest Pet Shop anything, but she’s really been having a blast playing with this.

FurReal Friends Happy to See Me Pets My Bouncin’ Kitty Pet

Fur Real Kitty

The girls squabbled over who would get this precious FurReal kitty. My older daughter finally won out. In her words, “Finally, a cat I’m not allergic to!” When you stroke the kitty on her back, she jumps around and meows. It truly is a great gift for the child who can’t have a real pet. At 11, my daughter still loves her stuffed friends although they don’t get nearly as much attention as they used to. I was pleased to see her enjoying this.

Nerf N-Sports Pro Foam Soccer Ball

Nerf Soccer Ball

The soft NERF foam and lightweight design makes it easy for soccer fans to kick, dribble and control the ball. The N-SPORTS Soccer Ball’s size allows NERF fans to do freestyle tricks and shots, both indoors and out.

In a house with boys, you can never have too many balls. We have a huge bin of them in the garage. My son and his friends have been having fun kicking around this Nerf soccer ball, but they’re far too cool to allow me to post their pictures on my blog.

Nerf N-Strike Elite Mega Magnus Blaster

Made to go mobile, this one-handed N-STRIKE MEGA blaster features an integrated internal clip so you can reload fast and send the MEGA whistler darts screaming through the air. The MEGA MAGNUS Blaster fires MEGA darts up to 85 feet!

Perhaps the biggest surprise was how my 11-year-old daughter took to this Nerf blaster. In fact, my 14-year-old son actually left his video games and started playing it with her. It was truly surreal. These two never play together anymore, but they were having a blast with this latest Nerf N-Strike toy.

Joseph Nogucci Sacred Stones Bracelets

Once again proving that she’s a study in contrasts, my daughter loves her Sacred Stones bracelet from Joseph Nogucci almost as much as she loves the nerf blaster. Ha! I really did want to hold these back for their Easter baskets, but I couldn’t resist getting a photo of her for this post. C is modeling both bracelets in this picture, but she did share one with her little sis.

Bella Butterfly Tea Set

One of my newest affiliate partners is One Kings Lane. I could spend HOURS on their site! In addition to tons of home decor products, they have a large selection of educational toys by Melissa and Doug. I’m such a huge fan of Melissa and Doug brand toys. They really do a great job at coming up with toys that are constructive and fun all at the same time. You can’t go wrong with ANY of the toys on this page. I chose to feature this tea set because I think it’s just precious. Every little girl needs a tea set.

Happy Giddy Bug House

Happy Giddy Bug Catchers

Or how about this Happy Giddy Bug House? My kids LOVE catching bugs in the summertime, and these buggy bug houses are just too sweet.

Meadow Medley Ducky

But seriously, how can you go wrong with this stuffed duck that “quacks contentedly” when you push on his belly? I mean. Every Easter basket needs on of those, don’t you think?

  1. Oh how I wish my girls were still little! They were so happy with anything! Now they’re 21 and 16, and I still give them a basket. With both of them requesting no or very little candy, it is hard. I get them both a movie and some other little things they’re interested in.
My 16 year old still doesn’t want to part with her Littlest Pet Shop toys. 🙂

  2. That bug house is adorable. I love using the easter basket as an excuse for cute outdoor toys, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk. This time of year we can’t wait to get outside.

  3. We have 2 boys ages 6 and 9. I agree about limiting the sweets in the baskets. Ours always get baseball cards and a baseball t-shirt jersey. They are also getting baseball caps this year. Last year I found chocolate crosses at Target that I got instead of the bunnies. I enjoy finding little things to put in baskets and the t-shirt tradition should last us until the are older.

  4. When our boys were little, we’d always put a hot wheels or matchbox car in their basket as well as basketball,
football, or baseball cards. For our daughter, there would be jewelry, hair clips, a pretty t-shirt.
We still give Easter baskets, too, and ours range in age from 13-21! It does get harder to think of what to put
in those baskets! For the older kids, something cute and small for their dorm room/apartment. Still do the
shirt idea since who doesn’t like new clothes??!

  5. My kids get a chocolate rabbit if they are lucky. Books are the big highlight for my kids. They love to read and they can never have enough books. Love all your ideas!
