It seems fitting to write about New Year’s Eve fashion today, does it not?
Often we don’t do much for New Year’s Eve. I’ve been known to go to bed well before the ball drops. As the kids get older, they like to be part of the festivities, so we usually include them. Therefore my New Year’s Eve fashion is pretty casual. But I’m always dreaming of the year that I get an opportunity to dress up and go somewhere really fabulous.
How about you? Are you a homebody on New Year’s Eve, or do you like to paint the town red?
This year we have been invited to two small house parties, and we plan to try to make it to both. I’ll be shopping my closet, and I just might repeat the outfit I wore to my husband’s holiday party a few weeks ago since these will be entirely different groups of people.
If you’re still working through what to wear for New Year’s Eve, here are three fun looks to consider.
Fashion for the New Year’s Eve House Party
Always reliable New Year’s Eve fashion for a house party or casual dinner out is a sparkly top and dressy jeans or pants. This is my favorite way to do festive. Rather than the typical black, which has become rather expected, how about going for something in gold and cream? I love this shimmery striped sweater with nude pumps and gold accessories.
New Year’s Eve Fashion for a Night Out On the Town
Going out on the town for New Year’s Eve? Go for a dress! Like this sequin sheath at Banana Republic.
You can take 40% off anything at Banana Republic with code BRSALE40, which brings that dress to $78. I’m tempted to order it and keep it in my closet until I have an opportunity to wear it!!
If that’s too bare for you, here are a few other cute dress options. I LOVE this Marina Cap-Sleeve Lace Dress at Macy’s. It comes in several pretty colors, but I’m partial to the gunmetal. It’s priced nicely at $69.99.
Or this Alfani Stud Scalloped Shift is gorgeous. I always like to have some coverage on my arms in the wintertime. And it’s on sale for $59.99!
Fashion for the New Year’s Eve Gala
Got a fancy gala to attend? You lucky duck! Go all out with a floor-length gown and a piece of statement jewelry. It is on my life’s bucket list to attend a formal gala where I can dress to the nines. I’d wear something like this:
So . . . which look is your favorite? Do you have any New Year’s Eve plans? Dish!
