My 2016 Holiday Photo Cards

I ordered my 2016 holiday photo cards with Minted. LOVE their modern designs with matching stamps, coordinating envelope liners, and best of all, free recipient addressing!

Sending holiday photo cards is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Every year for as long as I can remember, I’ve looked forward to the process — selecting the pictures, creating the card, addressing, stamping, all of it. Up until last year I even hand addressed every card.

I love receiving Christmas cards every bit as much as I enjoy sending them. Every day during the month of December, I look forward to the mailman making his rounds through our neighborhood. As soon as he passes by, I run out to check the mailbox and see if there are any cards to open. I like to display all our cards on the side of the fridge, and the kids love looking at them throughout the year.

Unfortunately these days, with everything going digital, many people have decided to forego the traditional cards in lieu of emails or Facebook greetings, but I still love getting Christmas cards in the mail. I hope that tradition never dies off.

This year I ordered my holiday photo cards with Minted. I’ve been a fan of the brand for some time. I’ve ordered from their Art Marketplace before, and I’m always impressed with the quality of their holiday cards. They come on a thick card stock, and their designs are always modern and classy. I love that they are each created by one of Minted’s independent designers, and my cards even came with a note from the woman who created my design.

The ordering process was super simple. I usually spend hours trying to find the perfect card design, but this year it took me all of 5 minutes to make my decision because you can filter the designs by how many photos you want to display, photo orientation (a huge time saver right there), price, color, and card format. You can even choose printing type, text placement, type of greeting, and shape of card.

Also, make sure you turn on FIND IT FAST so you can see your own uploaded photo in all the cards displayed. I think that’s what made this process so super quick for me. I could see my photo of choice as it would look on each card, and I quickly selected my favorite and went on with the rest of the ordering process.

They have a ton of interior and backer options for your holiday cards so you can include more pictures or a personal message. I chose a fun layout that allowed me to include some highlights from the year for each family member.

Minted also has all sorts of fun little add-ons you can take advantage of. I’m a sucker for little details, so I selected matching stamps, a fun coordinating envelope liner, and best of all, FREE RECIPIENT ADDRESSING!!! Sorry for the all caps, but this is a game changer.

I hired my 17-year-old son to transfer all the addresses from my hand-written address book into an Excel spreadsheet, which I can now keep updated. SO much better than all the cross-outs and new additions in my paper address book.

I also had our return addresses printed on the envelope flap so I don’t have to purchase separate return address labels, although, of course, Minted has some cute options for those as well.

My order came in yesterday, and I might have actually squealed when I opened the box. I love how our cards turned out.

And yes, I realize, this is a total spoiler for everyone on my Christmas card list who also reads my blog. If I had time to mail my cards before posting this I would, but I wanted to get this post up ASAP for those of you who haven’t ordered your holiday cards yet.

If you place an order with Minted by Monday, December 12, you should receive your holiday cards (with free proof-reading) by December 20 with no additional shipping fee. For more options, they have a whole table of holiday delivery deadlines that you can reference. Suffice it to say, there is still time to place an order, but don’t wait too long.

  1. What a beautiful card Jo-Lynne! We had stopped sending Christmas cards, but I am sending some this year since we’ve moved. I bought them instead of making them because I suspect most people throw them away.

    Have a great day!

  2. Your cards turned out really nice!! Re the driver, it truly does get easier. I prayed harder for their guardian angels and changed my worry to excitement for all the new things that happen in their life.. Kids do better with parents that aren’t worry warts or at least don’t show it. Mine were more confident when they knew mom & dad felt like “u go boy, u got this” just believe in them and go cry in the bathroom haha or go shopping

  3. Your cards turned out great! I love sending and receiving Christmas cards, like you I rush out to see if any came the mail! What a beautiful family!

  4. This is a tradition I have been introduced to by a lovely Californian friend. Before we became expats we used to send an annual Christmas letter that included photos from our year. Living in India, with a challenging postal service, that was way too hard and we’ve never gone back to it since. I love the comment about having the cards on your fridge – we have Bonnie’s family card on our fridge all year every year but it’s the only one because she’s our only American friend lol! I love the detail of this service especially the info on the back and the addressed envelopes. Might have to see if I can find a similar service here and start a new trend in the southern hemisphere 🙂
