Have you heard the news? This winter is supposed to be a DOOZIE. As if last winter wasn’t doozie-enough.
All the news sources are reporting that it will be colder even than last year, and when it snows, it’s gonna SNOW.
So before we all get snowed in, let’s start stocking up on essentials . . . you know, like bread, milk, wine and WINTER BOOTS!
Hey, a girl’s gotta have priorities, dontchaknow???
Speaking of winter boots, I thought it was high time I write up a list of must-have winter boots to have in your closet for the 2014-2015 winter season.
Zappo’s is one of my favorite places to shop for shoes and boots because they have lightening fast FREE delivery AND free returns. Boom! I am always amazed at how efficient they are with shipping and returns so I was thrilled when they reached out to me to partner this post. Every pair of boots listed below you can order from Zappo’s and you will have them in two days or less. If you don’t love them, all you have to do is print out a return label, package them right back up and drop them off with a UPS or USPS carrier. Your account will be credited within a week.
Here are my top picks for winter boots this year.
Must-Have Winter Boots 2014
1. Snow Boots
Would you believe, I’ve lived in Pennsylvania for almost 20 years without a pair of snow boots? I’ve always figured, if I don’t have snow boots, I guess I can’t be called upon to shovel the driveway. And besides, that’s what I had kids for.
But this year I decided it was time to break down and get a pair. Of course, I set out to find the most stylish pair of snow boots I could find. Aaaaaaand…. these are the ones I ended up with the Sorel Tofino Cate.
It just so happened the DAY after they arrived in the mail, it snowed. I KNOW. So I was able to christen them appropriately. (See above.)
I am absolutely loving these. While they are great for shoveling snow, they’re so cute and comfortable, you can wear them on any cold day with your favorite sweater and skinny jeans. They are also the only boots I can fit over the brace I’m wearing right now so you will probably be seeing A LOT of them.
2. Riding Boots
Riding boots are a fall staple, but essential for winter too! Just make sure you treat the leather if you live in a climate where you get much rain or snow.
I love my Frye Phillip Harness boots. They are unlike any other boots I’ve ever owned — the finest leather inside and out. Definitely a splurge, but these babies will last a lifetime.
You’ve seen me wearing these several times. They’re great worn over skinny jeans but just as cute with a skirt or dress.
Another great option for classic leather riding boots is the Sam Edelman Penny. My neighbor just bought these in black so I’ve seen them in person,d and they are GORGEOUS.
3. Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are still hot this season. If you’re worried about your ankles getting cold, wear them with tights or knee socks. YES, you can wear knee socks with ankle boots. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve seen it done and it’s super cute.
The Sam Edelman Petty is incredibly versatile. They come in a ton of color options too.
4. Rain Boots
You think of rain boots more for spring or fall, but if you live in a region of the country where winters are mild (and I sort of hate you for that!!) then you may not need heavy duty snow boots. Rain boots do just fine for those rainy, sleety winter days. You can even wear them to trudge through the snow if you need to — just wear heavy wool socks to keep your tootsies toasty.
I LOVE my Hunter boots. It took me years to pull the trigger and order them, but now that I have them, I’m SO glad I do.
They are incredibly comfortable as well as stylish. I wore them all last winter with heavy socks inside.
Oh, yes. That’s a thing. No, seriously, these are basically glorified slippers that you can wear outside and call it a fashion statement. How can it get any better than that??
I LOVE my UGG Classic Cardys. These are the perfect boots for wearing with leggings, cozy drapey sweaters and thick wool scarves.
