May GLOSSYBOX Review & Unboxing

May Glossybox

I finally received my May GLOSSYBOX on May 30th. I was eagerly anticipating this one because it’s a special edition for Bergdorf Goodman, including a $25 gift certificate in addition to some super swanky beauty products to try. As you can see from the photo above, there were lots of beauty products involved this month, but you only receive six items, so everyone gets a different box. I didn’t even look at the choices because I didn’t want to be disappointed if I didn’t get one I wanted.

I videotaped my unboxing. This seems to be the thing to do on YouTube. Go figure.

But since the unboxing, I’ve tried every one of the products and I’m ready to review them for you! You can view the full descriptions through my affiliate link on the GLOSSYBOX website. Just click on The Box in the menu bar.

This box was truly a gem. Mine included:

Alterna Professional Haircare CAVIAR CC Cream for Hair 10-in-1 Complete Correction: Loving this so far. My hair does tend to frizz out in the humidity, and it looks much better with this caviar cc cream. Granted, it hasn’t been super humid since I’ve been using it so I’m anxious to see how it does when the humidity comes back, but so far, I’m impressed. It retails for $25, which isn’t outlandish. I will definitely keep it in mind.

RéVive Skincare Intensité Volumizing Eye Serum: this stuff retails for $350 for 0.5 fl oz. My first thought was, I would NEVER pay that for a beauty product, but you guys. I have this horrid issue with bags under my eyes. I am always using the wrinkle remover and airbrush feature in Picmonkey to try to disguise them in my photos for the blog. And this eye serum makes a NOTICEABLE difference. I spent a pretty penny on a Lancome product that promised to help, and it doesn’t do much. But this RéVive product is miraculous. I will have to do a before-and-after photo cuz $350 is steep… but it sure is tempting.

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Cologne Absolue: this is nice, but I wouldn’t pay for it. I’m not a huge fan of the floral scents.

Lancer Skincare Lift Serum Intense: This is another pricey item, retailing at $275 for .84 oz. I do like it a lot. The key technology is the Stem Cell Recovery Complex to support skin’s natural regeneration processes for long term firming, surface smoothing and wrinkle reduction. I’ve been applying it nightly, but it’s too soon to tell if the results are noticeable.

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer: I’ve only used this once, and it definitely provides a nice canvas for applying my favorite foundation. I skipped my CC cream and used regular foundation with this, thinking that perhaps the CC cream was redundant over a primer. I just read this on the Glossybox website: “Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer is scientifically formulated to sync with your skin. Napoleon likes to apply primer with a brush to not only improve skin texture, but also to aid foundation application and help your makeup last.” So perhaps I will try to apply it with a makeup brush next time. I did use a makeup brush to apply my foundation; I always do.

Kevyn Aucoin The Essential Mascara: (not pictured) I’m a Lancome girl and this mascara initially didn’t seem to cover very well. However, after 3 coats (I always apply 3 coats of mascara) I really liked how full and natural it made my lashes. I’ll definitely be using up my sample. For $35, it’s a bit high for mascara, so I don’t know if I’d buy it again.

And that’s a wrap! I can’t wait to spend my $25 Bergdorf Goodman gift card. That alone totally pays for the price of the box, and I am thrilled with the samples I received this month. I just hope that RéVive Eye Serum doesn’t spoil me for anything else!
