As uptight as I can be about the food I put in my body, I readily admit that I haven’t been as conscientious about the products I put on my skin. This is an area that I hope to focus on more in the upcoming months.
There are so many products out there that it’s overwhelming to know where to begin, which is probably the main reason most of us aren’t more choosy about the products we buy. Fortunately the EWG provides a great resource with their Skin Deep Cosmetics Database, and I’ve been trying to use that more lately as I select my beauty products and cosmetics.
A while back (like a year ago — bad blogger, I’m just now getting around to posting about it) a company called (seed) sent me several hand cream samples from their line of all natural body care products. These products use blended seed nutrients and are formulated to be extremely gentle for the most sensitive skin. They’re also free of parabens, gluten, dairy, and most of are free of soy.
I’ve used them off and on over the past few months, and I really like how they feel on my skin. Before I recommended the (seed) products, I wanted to make sure they are as natural and healthy as they say they are so I just went onto the EWG Skin Deep site to see how they check out. I was pleased to find that they all get a rating between 0-2 on the 10-point rating scale (lower is better).
I love supporting small ma and pop owned companies so I will definitely be purchasing more of these products in the future. I love that I can get them at Wegmans, where I often shop. You can also find (seed) products at Whole Foods, Duane Reed, and many traditional grocery stores as well as online.
