Insta Recap #6

Good Sunday morning! It’s time for another “Insta Recap.” I always have fun reminiscing about my week through my Instagram feed, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram or miss a few updates, this will keep you up to speed! Not that my life is all that exciting, but these posts take me back to old school blogging, when we would share our daily lives and connect with other women in the everyday ups and downs of life.

On that note, last weekend a couple of my friends and I went to the Nordstrom holiday party. They close down the store at 7pm and reopen at 7:30 for cardholders and their guests. There were hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and cardholders earned 10 reward points for every dollar spent (usually it’s 1) so it’s a great time to wipe out some Christmas shopping. We had a blast and promised each other to make it an annual tradition.

This cocktail was AMAZING. I am dying to recreate it — St. Germaine, vodka, and white cranberry juice, garnished with sugar on the rim and a few cranberries for good measure. It was as delicious as it was pretty.

Also, I didn’t post this to Instagram, but here’s a picture of my friends and me. Sometimes I share photos on Facebook that don’t make it to Instagram. We had a good laugh when we realized we were all wearing grey sweaters.

good friends, good times

I was so excited when I discovered that the perforated shopper tote that I shared on the blog last week is back in stock! But alas, it is gone again, I see. Boo. Oh, well. You win some, you lose some. (You can get full outfit details in this post.)

This is a sneak peek of the holiday party outfit I shared earlier in the week. I actually wore a version of this outfit to a Christmas Tea yesterday with ladies at church. Instead of the leopard pumps, I wore brown ankle boots. (Get full outfit details in here.)

And then I shared this picture of my new Toms Leila booties. These are SO comfortable. You can get the full outfit details here.

This is a shot of me wearing my new Andrew Marc coat. It’s still 25% off! Get all the details in this post.

I posted this top-down selfie on Friday, I think. I wore this outfit to run some errands and work from home. Actually I think I wore it Thursday and Friday. Ha! I ordered this blanket cardigan because it looked so cozy, and I love the colors. It comes in 4 colors/patterns, and I typically gravitate to the reds, but when I saw this blue and grey and mustard combo, I fell in love. It’s super soft, AND it’s only $40!

Then I shared my holiday outfit for my husband’s office party. Get all the outfit details in this post.

We had a great time, by the way! Here’s another bonus picture that I didn’t put on Instagram. I took this when we were at the party. It’s grainy because of the low light. I love the look on Paul’s face. This is his, I cannot believe I am taking a selfie around all of my coworkers look. *snort*

I took this top-down selfie of an outfit I was trying out on Friday. I picked up this split back sweater at the Nordstrom holiday party. I’m still undecided if I’m keeping it or not. I love it from the front, but I’m not crazy about the split in the back. I’ll be posting this outfit later this week, and y’all can weigh in and help me decide. I really don’t NEED another red sweater, but I love the shape of this one, and it was on sale for 49. I also picked up the leopard clutch at the holiday party. It’s not on sale, but it’s only $39!!

Yesterday morning, I posted this teaser of my outlet shopping outfit. Get full outfit details here.

Finally, this is my view in the morning with my first mug of coffee. That’s when I do my devotions and pray. I subscribe to She Reads Truth. I love it because I get a devotional in my email inbox every morning, right about the time that I get up. It has really helped me commit to a regular time of prayer and  study of the Word.

And now I want to cry because I have to go run, and it’s only 27 degrees outside. The frosty morning is beautiful to look at, but I’m dreading those first five minutes before my body gets good and warmed up. Every time I contemplate skipping my run, I remind myself of the many months when I was laid up with a foot injury, and how desperately wanted to run, no matter what the weather. And then I think of the people who can’t run or do the activities they’re used to for whatever reasons, and so I put my big girl pants on and get my bum out there if for no other reason than because I can.

If you’re debating braving the cold this morning, this is my encouragement to you: Don’t think too much about it. Just do it. You’ll be glad you did!

If you liked this post, be sure to follow me on Instagram. I hope you and yours have a blessed Sunday!

  1. Great recap of the week! Your tree is gorgeous. I hope you had a good run this morning. I am looking forward to the day I can resume exercising. Having to keep my left hand above heart level is not conducive to physical activity. God bless!

  2. I’m the same way with running. I almost wanted to cry when I went out the door Friday afternoon. But I did it, and I was glad about 10-15 minutes into it.

  3. I have that red sweater – it’s a keeper, so soft and the cut is flattering 🙂 It’s also a good “red” color, if you know what I mean, red can be too blue sometimes….have a good week.
