Spring Trend: ORANGE LIPS

Radiant orchid may be the Pantone Color of the Year, but if there is one color trend that is taking the beauty world by storm this spring, it is orange. Most notably? Orange lips!

Orange Lips

I love this trend. It’s fresh and fun, and I’m tired of pink and red. Plus I’ve always been a fan of wearing coral and orange, so this lipstick trend is right up my alley.

The beauty mags are all saying that everyone can wear it, as long as you follow a few simple guidelines.

How to Wear Orange Lips

1. Consider the Undertone.

If you are blond or light skinned, you can probably get away with true orange. Go you!!! If you have darker skin or olive tones, you may want to stick with corals and reddish orange.

2. K.I.S.S.

Keep it simple, silly! If you go for a bold lip, it’s best to keep the rest of your makeup neutral and fairly minimal.

3. Go For A Lipgloss

If you’re feeling a bit shy about wearing a bold color on your lips, start with lipgloss. I generally give new lipstick color trends a try in a gloss first. In fact, I’m a huge fan of lipgloss in general because it’s I prefer a softer lip and a bolder eye. I’m dipping my toe into this trend with Sonia Kashuk’s Ultra Luxe Lip Gloss in Coveted Coral.

This is a very subtle orange, and I definitely want to find a bolder tone and give that a try, but I happened to have a sample of this in my makeup drawer, and I think it’s a great way to dip my toe into the trend and get used to wearing this color on my face.

My all-time favorite lipgloss is Chanel’s Levres Scintillantes, and I’m dying to try one of their orange tones. It’s not sticky at all, and the color is always rich and bold for a gloss.

If I really get gutsy, I might try an orange lipstick. Here are a few options to choose from.

  1. Your makeup in this post looks wonderful! You should consider doing a tutorial. Or a post of all your products used. All of us moms without a clue would thank you! I just adore your blog. So informative and you keep it lively with lots of different topics. LOVE it!

  2. Your makeup looks great! I would love to see some examples of some people with the bold orange and see how it looks. Maybe somewhere on your Pinterest boards?

    1. I wanted SO BADLY to post photos I found, but I could get in big trouble. Everyone is cracking down now on use of photos, with good reason, but I’m really careful these days. Starting a pinterest board is a great idea! I think it’s okay to pin them, right? Honestly I don’t even know. It’s confusing.
