Welcome back to 22 Days of Summer Fashion! Cyndi and I can’t believe how fast this one is flying by! With one week left in our summer style series, today I have a poolside outfit featuring this Gauze Caftan Swimsuit Cover-Up with Tassel Trim.
I ordered this Gauze Caftan Swimsuit Cover-Up soon after we made plans for our summer vacation at the Hyatt Chesapeake resort. I knew I’d be spending several days poolside, and while I usually throw on a t-shirt and jean shorts over my bathing suit and call it a day, I decided that this occasion called for a more sophisticated cover-up.
I wanted something feminine but comfortable, and I fell in love with this caftan and the tassel detail.
I’m happy to report that it washes up nicely too. I was worried about washing it so I ordered these lingerie bags because I didn’t want to throw it in my front loader without any protection from the other garments.
The first time I washed it, I put it in one of the lingerie bags with Woolite on the delicate cycle. It worked beautifully, but the second time, my cover-up accidentally got thrown into a normal wash with the rest of our vacation laundry. I was terrified when I pulled it out, but it is perfectly fine! As the instructions suggest, I twisted it to dry so it retains its crinkle texture, and it’s as good as new.
I meant to bring my favorite pool bag with me on vacation, but it got left behind in the packing madness, so I picked up this Vera Bradley Beach Striped Tote in a little shop in St. Michaels — a darling little seaside town near our resort.
I broke my cardinal rule about beach bags and bought one that doesn’t stand up on its own. That is my only complaint about this bag, but I love it so much in every other way that I can overlook it.
I love how the tan stripes match my tan sandals, and the tassel detail and colorful flower charm are the perfect trendy accessory. The rope handles are a fun detail as well.
There is an interior slip pocket made from the same colorful pattern as the charm that is perfect for holding my phone, and the trim inside is the same material. It is unlined, but I like it that way because it is stretchy and accommodates a large beach towel as well as all the other essentials you might need for a day at the pool or beach.
Before you ask, the swimsuit I’m wearing is old. I’m working on updating my swimsuit post from last summer, so stay tuned for that! I’ve ordered quite a few new ones this year, but they’ve all gone back. I have a few more on order, and if they don’t work out, I’m giving up and sticking with the two I have. I can definitely give you some suggestions for cute styles, though.
Swimsuit shopping is certainly a challenge. I’d rather just wear my coverup and avoid the process altogether! It’s a lot more fun to shop for coverups! In fact, here are a few more suggestions for swimsuit cover-ups, all under $50.
I usually wear my Tory Burch Miller Flip Flops to the pool because they’re patent leather and it doesn’t matter if they get wet. Plus they’re cute and comfortable and go with everything.
I have a few pairs of sunglasses, but my Kate Spade Laurie Sunnies are my favorites. And no, I don’t usually wear makeup and accessorize when I go to the pool, but I did get dolled up for our photo shoot. It was fun to have the pool to ourselves in the early morning hours, and the sunrise was absolutely stunning. We did take some time to enjoy the view.
