Fashion Over 40: Daily Mom Style 06.10.15

Is it just me, or do Wednesdays come quicker every week? I feel like I just wrote last week’s Daily Mom Style, but here we are again. One day last week, when we were enjoying some cooler temps, I wore this casual outfit around the house.

The coral tee is from LOFT last year. I bought the bracelet stack at the same time. I love how they compliment each other. The earrings and necklace are Stella & Dot.

The jeans are my AG Stilt Cigarette Leggings, and I wore my Superga kicks with my foot brace. I was glad the weather was cool enough for jeans so I could hide this ugly brace. I feel like I’ve been fighting with that thing for years.

Last Friday, I was a schlump for most of the day, but late in the afternoon I got showered and threw on this outfit to go out to dinner and then to my daughter’s piano recital.

The white blouson tee is still available at White House Black Market, and it’s on sale! Sizes are limited, but it also comes in black and a black-and-white stripe that is cute.

The mint skinnies are old; I picked them up last spring on a Bloomingdales Friends & Family sale. But there are a few similar options at Nordstrom. I’ve really enjoyed having these in my wardrobe this spring. I’ve never been much for pastels, but I’m actually enjoying the trend this time around.

I picked up the beaded necklace at Target, and I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to wear it.

And I have to confess, I cheated with the shoes. I actually wore my Orthaheels, but I put these cute white sandals on for the picture.

I carried my Stella & Dot Riviera Tote and wore my Alex & Ani wire bangles. I know I wear them almost every day, but they have such a cool, casual vibe, and they seem to go with everything.

Backing up to Thursday, I wore this casual outfit to run errands and work at home. It’s just a simple t-shirt and jeans, but I love how the pink sneakers keep it modern and fun. If you missed it, I shared how I put this outfit together in Monday’s post.

I wore this next outfit on Saturday morning to meet some girlfriends for breakfast. I wanted to wear my new Kuhfs (stay tuned for more info about them on Friday.) I love white and grey together, and I felt like this muted color palette complimented the print in the Kuhfs nicely.

I picked up the gray top last fall at a local boutique. I think I only wore it once before cold weather set in, and I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to wear it again. It was perfect for the mild spring morning we had last Saturday. I like how the back is a comfortable jersey material, and the front is more of a blouse.

Once again, I cheated and wore prettier shoes for my pictures. What can I say, I’m weak when it comes to cute shoes!

The necklace was sent to me from the folks at White House Black Market, and it added perfect touch to complete the outfit.

On Saturday afternoon, I changed into my cut-offs and this lavender tank top to go to a music festival. I knew it was going to be warm, and we would be sitting in the full sun, so I wanted to be comfortable.

Fashion Over 40: Casual Summer Outfit

Most of the pieces in this outfit are old, so I don’t have links, but the basic formula is cute top + jean shorts + sandals. Easy, right!? Not everyone is comfortable in short shorts, so you have to find the length that’s right for you. My arms and legs are the thinnest part of me, so I’m gonna wear my short shorts until the varicose veins take over, ha! The key to making the short shorts work (for me) is to make sure my top isn’t too tight. I save my more fitted tops for my longer shorts, and that way I don’t feel like a hoochie mama.

Unrelated to what I was wearing, I got to drive this Buick Encore for a week, thanks to the folks at Drive the District. I had fun tooling around in a smaller, peppier car for a week. I’ll be sharing more about it soon.

I wore my Sparrow Top from Leave Nothing But Footprints with my tan moto-style jeans on Sunday to church.

I love the color of the top and the lace detail on the sleeves.

I played around with a few bolder necklaces, but I ended up layering these two delicates. For some reason, I always feel more confident in jewelry that is more subtle. I was tempted to wear my Alex and Ani bangles again, but I was trying to change things up so I pulled out my Renegade Cluster Bracelet. It’s always fun to wear, and I always get compliments on it.

I wore my gold espadrille flats and carried my grey cross body bag. I always end up resorting to this when I don’t know what else to carry. It goes with everything.

I’ve spent the last couple of days at home in shorts and tank tops… nothing particularly blog worthy. On Friday, I’ll be sharing a few more of the outfits I styled with the Kuhfs, so stay tuned for that!

  1. I am so excited that canvas sneakers are back. I recently found an adorable pair of Keds that have similar styling to Converse for only $20 at Ross. I love sandals for summer but also love the option of throwing on a pair of cute sneakers.

  2. I was wondering if the Superga tennis shoes would fit a wider foot? I believe I have read comments that they run a little narrow. What are your thoughts on that? The ball of my foot is wide but my heel more narrow or normal.

    1. I think they are rather narrow. But I feel like they have room to spare. I do have narrow feet. Order from zappo’s – free shipping and free returns. Nothing to lose! 🙂 I will say, they run BIG. I had to send mine back and size down.

  3. Stunning as always! You are seriously the queen of the little details..i always love your accessories, shoes and little details that really MAKE your outfits! And dang, girl–you ROCK those denim shorts! I WISH my arms and legs were the thinnest part of me! You are blessed!! XOXO ~ Casey @ A Little Bit of Cheer

  4. Can we talk about how hot those pink kicks are with that Ramones t-shirt on you? Love it! You knocked it out of the park with the mint jeans and those cute paisley cuffed pants! Love the whole week and the car pics included.

Thanks for linking up at Whatcha Wearing Wednesday!

  5. I have a question about your canvas sneakers. I just got a pair and was wondering what kind of socks you wear with them.
