Structured Handbags for Fall

structured handbags for fallIf you send a girl to the mall to make returns . . . she might get distracted by shoes and handbags.

If she gets distracted by shoes and handbags, she might spend her fall clothing budget in one fell swoop!

Okay, so I didn’t do that JUST yet, but I’m thinking about it.

September will be here before we know it, and it will be time to lovingly pack away my summer handbags. I don’t really have a go-to handbag for fall/winter, and I sold quite a few of my bags last spring so I’m looking to replenish my arsenal.

I’m loving the structured bag trend. In fact, I have two slouchy leather bags in my closet that I’m going to put on eBay this week because I haven’t carried them in a year. They’re so inconvenient because it’s hard to find things inside, and they end up in a puddle every time I put them down.

I love the practicality of a nice structured satchel or tote. I was perusing bags in Macy’s today, and here is a list of my top picks. Most of these are an extra 15% off with promo code TICKET.

6 Structured Handbags for Fall

1. MICHAEL Michael Kors Leather Tote

I’ve been eying up the Michael Kors totes for a while now. This black python with contrast handles is gorgeous for winter, and it’s on sale for $170.99. This one has a zipper (which I like) although some of the MK totes do not. The price isn’t for the faint of heart, but for a bag of this size in leather, it’s a good value.

2. Tignanello Handbag, Perfect 10 Leather Studded Shopper

I looked at this bag for a while today. I like that it is roomy without being huge. It comes in a myriad of pretty colors, and it’s genuine leather on sale for $118.99 plus 15% off.

3. Dooney and Bourke Logo Lock Tote

If you’re a Dooney fan, their leather Logo Lock Tote is on sale for $198 and comes in this gorgeous navy blue — a hot color for fall. I noticed a lot of navy blue in the handbag department today. It also comes in a nice saddle tan.

4. Giani Bernini Glazed Leather Triple Entry Satchel

There are plenty of great bags for under $100 too. This satchel is $87.99 plus 15% off. For those who like to stay organized, it has 3 compartments, a zip pocket, 2 open pockets, 3 pen loops, 3 card slots and ID window.

5. Marc Fisher Kensington Satchel

I’m always a sucker for a red bag, and this one is super cute. For $72.99 and 15% off, it’s not a bad deal, but it isn’t leather, if that matters to you.

6. Nine West 9 On The Go Large Tote

This orange nylon bag with contrasting shoulder straps is calling my name. It is reminiscent of the popular nylon bags by other designers but at a much better price point. At $53.99 plus 15% off, it’s hard to go wrong! It also comes in gray and black.

I have the TIgnanello Perfect 10 shopper & I love it! Although it is a bit less structured than some of the others (which is also why I love it). Been coveting it in a new color though.
Oh and BTW, it is the first non-black handbag I have had in years thanks to um, a certain someone with a handbag obsession ;)

I love the first one – Michael Kors – but that’s because I had a very similar one last year. Love that it goes with everything (I’m a bit of a “matchy/matchy that way :)
Second choice – the orange from Nine West!
    Happy Shopping!

I love all things Nine West, and that orange one is calling my name. I feel like I never found the perfect one to hold the iPad on the go. Or, is that just an excuse to buy another bag? ;)

Haha, I saw one this week – Michael Kors makes it, and it has a padded tech pocket for iPad. I WAS SO TEMPTED. But it is $300 — EEEK! and it has the MK logo all over it, and I’m just not a fan of those.

Thank you for shopping for me! I just purchased the Giani Bernini. Can’t wait for it to arrive! I could love a personal shopper! Now, if I could just find one that will pay, too!

I’m a Dooney fan but this time I will opt for the Michael Kors Leather Tote. The Tignanello Handbag looks very similar to a Cole Haan satchel I have, very cute.

I caved and bought a Dooney – not one of these. It is a charcoal gray croc with brown leather handles. Macy’s had a one-day 25% off sale on Saturday and I snagged it!!!! I cannot WAIT for fall weather to carry it. :-)

For those of us with slightly smaller budgets, I love seeing what they have marked down at TJ Maxx in purses. Often some very nice name brands for less, and on trend! Kohl’s often has some cute choices, too, although I’m disappointed my $100 Elle purse (that I got for $30) has some peeling ickyness already.

I have good luck with purses at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but you have to go often because inventory changes so quickly. I’ve never really done Kohl’s. They have cute styles, but I’m never sure if they’ll hold up.
