DIY July 4th Banner

With only a few more weeks until the 4th of July, it’s time to start planning your celebrations.

Hi, it’s Tonya again and I’m sharing a simple do-it-yourself banner that’s perfect for hanging above your food station, on your mantel, or along the windows to decorate your home this 4th of July.

DIY July 4th Banner

Supplies needed:

  • burlap
  • scrap paper
  • twine in two colors
  • hole punch
  • scissors

How to make a burlap banner for 4th of July

My burlap came in ready-cut rectangles, but if you have a large sheet or strip, cut it into even sized pieces.

Cut a triangle into the bottom of one piece of burlap. Using that piece as a template, cut the remainder so they are all the same.

Cut a piece of the scrap paper into a similar shape, only smaller. Again, use this first piece as a template to create the others.

Place the paper on top of the burlap, and then using the hole punch, punch two holes into the top.

Cut small pieces of twine in one color and tie the paper to the burlap.

  1. Darling banner. I would like to start making banners for holidays, especially Thanksgiving. This morning I made our reservations for an overnight escape on July 5th. Up to the mountains where the temperatures will only be in the double digits.

  2. Cute banner. But I’m commenting on your coffee post from yesterday I believe it was . The one you were speaking about how tough your summer has been so far with running kids here and there. As a young Mom (many years ago) I would have given anything to be home with my kids. But I couldn’t due to financial reasons. I worked full time and juggled two pre-teens through the summer months when they had practices, medical appointments, and seeing their friends- all while working 40 hours, cooking dinner every night and keeping a house going while my husband worked two jobs. That was a tough summer.

    1. Hi Amy, I hear ya. One of the reasons I love my job is that it allows me to be home with my kids, but trying to fit it in while they are under foot after being used to having those school hours to focus on work takes some getting used to. We will get in a rhythm, but the first week is always a little bit crazy. We moms all have quite the juggling act, don’t we?

  3. What a wonderful DIY! Looks so good and is so incredibly easy to make! While we obvioulsy don’t celebrate July 4th here in Norway, this would look great in the ceiling at a birthday or in a tree in the garden, with a picnic underneath. Thanks for the inspiration! It’s being pinned asap!
