Daily Mom Style 02.20.13

This time of year really puts me in a funk. Anyone else? I am trying SO HARD to get myself dressed and fixed up every day. It do feel SO much better on the days that I make the effort. But honestly? I would be content to live in yoga pants and slippers till May. This is this week’s attempt at staying fabulous after 40.

day 1

I wanted to wear something besides blue jeans so I pulled on my green skinnies. I know some girls can pull off some really crazy color combos but I’m more comfortable pairing a bright pair of pants with a neutral on top. I wore my black velvet trim merino cardigan over a gray tank and then topped it off with a scarf. The weather was mild for a change, so I wore black ballet flats instead of boots, and I carried this gray satchel that I love and rarely carry. All that to take my daughter to the dentist. LOL!!

day 2

This seemed appropriate for Valentine’s Day! I went back to a tried-and-true outfit: my red hooded zip-cardi over a black tank with skinny jeans and UGGs.

day 3

On Friday I hosted a demo for my client at a local grocery store. I wanted to be professional but comfortable so I went for this V-neck magenta sweater with dark wash jeans and ballet flats (Aldo). The necklace is Stella & Dot .

That night we went out to dinner for Valentine’s Day, and I took the opportunity to wear my favorite dress. I just love the colors and the print, and it’s quite forgiving when you’ve indulged a bit too much on holiday candy.

I didn’t bother with a necklace; I figured there was enough going on with the print. But I doubled up on my bracelets and wore a pair of bold silver earrings.

I have no qualms saying that I spent Saturday in yoga pants and fleece. It was a cold, gray day that I spent at home tackling the laundry and catching up on work.I might have even snuck in a nap.

day 4

I wore this outfit to church on Sunday. I usually wear this poncho with red pants and a black shirt, but I wanted to try something different so I put it with a red t-shirt and black leggings. I also dug out these flat boots from the back of my closet. I just wasn’t in the mood for a heel and it was too cold to even think about ballet flats.

day 5

I have to keep reminding myself to not apologize for repeating outfits! This purple sweater is so easy to wear that I threw it on again on Monday — this time with more casual jeans, UGGs and a scarf. I only post it twice in one week to show you how I styled it differently both times.

This time of year these posts start to feel incredibly redundant. I am so ready for springtime!!!

  1. I’m looking forward to spring too, but I actually bought a few new winter dresses that I’m wearing for this weeks WIWW, so it may be my best “get dressed week” yet. 😉

I do love your dress. It looks fabulous on you! I also love your poncho. It looks so snugly, perfect for a cold day.

  2. Love that purple sweater. The color is so great. I am also feeling tired of all of my winter clothes. Not that I have much variety in the summer–tanks and shorts/skirts almost every day. Ha!

    1. I probably need to take “barefoot runner” out of my bio – it’s a bit misleading. I was running in Vibrams, and they basically allow you to run barefoot style, but protect your feet. I have run barefoot at times, it is fun! But usually you need some protection. Lately I’ve been wearing more minimalist style sneakers, because of some foot pain. I’m in the midst of trying to figure it all out. 🙂
