Daily Mom Style 01.14.15

Welcome back to my weekly Fashion Over 40 post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fabulous fashion bloggers around the web!

Fashion Over 40: Daily Mom Style

It has been sooo frigid here in PA. We’ve had a 2-hour school delay TWICE due to sleet and ice. Brrrrr . . . I have been motivated to get dressed, although I’m noticing that my outfits this week all look pretty much the same! Oh well, this is real life and when it works, it works, right?? Also, I found that if I wear a super thin sock, I can fit my brace under most of my boots. Score!

Cool & Casual

I have no recollection where I wore this, but I love the cool silvery grey of the sweater against the light-wash jeans. I just wore silver earrings and a mixed-metal charm necklace to fill the neckline. My favorite, cozy UGGs barely zipped, but they did! And I’m still carrying my new R Minkoff crossbody bag almost every day. I’m discovering that I really CAN get by with a smaller bag most of the time, and it’s a refreshing change. Of course I have no intention of ditching my larger bags. I’m sure I’ll work them back in eventually.

Casual Winter Outfit for Moms

Shop the look: Lou & Grey for LOFT sweater (no longer available, but here is the current Lou & Grey collection at LOFT) // jeans via Stitch Fix (similar) // UGG boots (also no longer available) // R Minkoff Mini MAC Crossbody (current colors) // Lakin Teardrop Earrings from my Stella & Dot boutique

Singing the Blues

I know I went somewhere the day I wore this, but I have no recollection where it was. The sweater is from a local shop. I love the button detailing. I usually wear it with khaki jeans, but I decided to try it with dark denim for a change. I like the monochromatic look, and of course the boots incorporate both colors.

I accessorized with a long gold necklace and wire bangles.

Still love my Sorel snowboots. Best investment I made this winter!

Walk The Dog

I wore this one day to work at home. So comfy, and I love the contrast of the white vest against the bright pink. I labeled this outfit Walk The Dog because it is the quintessential suburban mom walk-the-dog winter outfit, isn’t it? Who cares if we don’t work out. No one will know, right?? Haha.

Running Apparel for Women from Kohl's #MakeYourMove

Shop this look: FILA SPORT® Mars Running Hoodie in Witty Pink c/o Kohl’s // FILA SPORT® Runswift Quilted Fleece-Lined Vest c/o Kohl’s // Nike Legend Slim Dri-FIT Pants c/o Kohl’s // Mizuno Wave Rider 17 in dark slate c/o FitFluential

Mom Chic

This outfit I wore to church on Sunday. The sweater is the other one I picked up at Ann Taylor on their big sale. I fear it’s a size too big, but I’m too lazy to try to exchange it. I wasn’t sure what to pair this color blue with. I could wear it with black, of course, but then my eyes landed on my gray coated denim jeans and I decided I liked that color combo better. Getting THESE boots on over my brace was my biggest challenge yet, but it was 18 degrees and I was determined not to wear ballet flats again.

I accessorized with gold hoops and this statement necklace in complimentary shades of blue. I also wore my gold Renegade Bracelet.

Shop this look: Chelsea V-neck Sweater in endless blue (50% off!!!) // DL1961 ‘Florence’ Instasculpt Skinny Jeans in Lourdes wash (40% off at Nordstrom!) // Renegade Cluster Bracelet from my Stella & Dot boutique // earrings and necklace no longer available // Janelle Boots c/o Naturalizer // Dooney & Bourke Lexington Shopper

And that’s a wrap! As I always say, I’m no fashionista. I’m just your average suburban mom who loves to shop and is trying to keep it fabulous after 40 without looking like I’m trying too hard. I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new — or at least to get out of the yoga pants a few days a week and put on something that makes you feel pretty.

As usual, I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy and Get Your Pretty On.
