Cute & Affordable Black Wedge Booties

Cute & Affordable Black Wedge Booties: Rosie Wedge c/o Payless

I was thrilled when Payless asked me to partner them on a series of fall posts because they are my favorite retailer for budget-friendly footwear. (See my first post where I styled a pair of KangaRoo sneakers.)

Last week I went to the store to check out their fall lineup, and I ended up coming home with two pairs of booties. Booties are about the hottest shoe trend going this fall. Last year my eye was still adjusting to the look, and I admit I struggled a bit with styling booties. This year, I feel like they’re going to be my go-to shoe choice for fall.

I’ve been wanting a pair of black wedge booties, so when I saw the Rosie Wedge, I went right for it.

The low shaft makes them super easy to pair with your favorite skinny jeans. You can cuff if you like, but in this case, I just let my pant legs fall where they may.

These booties are incredibly comfortable. The inside is soft with no rough seams or edges, and the 3-inch heel is the perfect height. It gives you a nice lift without being hard to walk in.

I wore black skinny jeans with my Lush Crepe Blouse. I have three of these blouses, I like them so much. They’re affordably priced and come in a variety of pretty colors. In fact, right now they’re on sale for $25!!! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

Fall Fashion: black jeans, wedge booties, & a drapey blouse

I have to wear a tank underneath, otherwise it is too lowcut for decency. The one I’m wearing is old and not a brand I recognize, but I have this one and love it. For one with skinnier straps, this one looks good. I like how they are designing these now to flatten the tummy without compressing the bust. Here’s one at Target for much less.

This Lush Crepe Blouse is perfect for early fall fashion!

I accessorized with a mixture of silver and gold. My necklace is a silver pendant on a gold chain, so I feel like I can go either way with the rest.

For fun, I carried this leopard crossbody. I like how it pops against the burgundy and black of the outfit and gives the whole outfit a little sass.

Pop a fall outfit with a leopard crossbody!

I also wore my watch with the leopard watch band. My bracelet, ring, necklace and watch are all from Stella & Dot. Since I’m an independent stylist, I have a ton of their jewelry.

Fall Outfit Inspiration: burgundy blouse with black jeans and black wedge booties

Here’s one more look at the boots. I like that hidden goring. It adds some interest, and it allows them to slip on and off easily without messing with a zipper.

This is such an easy outfit to throw on and go, and it’s great for wearing on those warmer fall days before it gets really cold. The colors scream fall, but the blouse is lightweight and has a nice drape so you don’t get overheated. The ankle boots are classic but on trend, and best of all, they’re comfortable enough to wear all day.

  1. First, I have to say that color red is so stunning on you! Second, the booties are super cute! I bought two pairs of wedge booties from Payless last year (on super clearance from the year before for about $25 for both pairs) and they are seriously (and surprisingly) the most comfortable booties I own (and I do have some that were quite a bit more expensive)! Payless is certainly not the Payless that was around during my high school years (remember when their shoes were cheap looking and just gross…and well, cheap?) Now they are really nailing it and I do shop there often for cute, on trend, affordable shoes! Plus they are one of the few retailers who give a 10% military discount every day and combine it with any and all other offers and discounts they have. So of course, I love them for that as well!

Really great outfit, for sure…now if the weather would just cool down!

  2. This is really cute! I always forget about Payless, but they have had some really cute styles recently. A great way to try a new trend if you’re iffy about it.

  3. I have this exact top and find it comes up super high at the sides to the point where I need to wear higher waist pants with it. I don’t have a super long torso. By the pics, it doesn’t look like you have the same problem but thought I would ask 🙂

  4. Happy Friday from a very cloudy and windy central GA town! We are right on the boarder from getting the real bad stuff from the now tropical depression. Any way, I LOVE this outfit and it looks so nice in you. I really don’t need to add anything to my closet, but I am going to order the blouse and get rid of at least one fall item as soon as I switch out my clothes. And the booties, I have to look for a Payless in my area and go try them on. My fingers are crossed they fit my feet! We are going to the Georgia National Fairground on Oct. 8th to see The Band Perry, and I’m thinking that outfit will be perfect, unless it turns off cold.

I hope your kids feel better soon, that your husband doesn’t get too sick, and that you avoid it all together! Happy Labor Day weekend!

  5. My daughter chose to go to a charter homeschool for her high school years. She didn’t want to have the hurry and pressure of traditional school and said she wanted more time to develop her relationship with God. She was able to travel at least once a year to an orphanage in Honduras and has since felt that living there full time is her calling. She is now a teacher in Honduras and still cares for children at that orphanage. Homeschooling through high school was the right decision for her.

  6. Jo-Lynne, that is one cute outfit on you! You just gave me an idea for my shirts that have that indecent dip in the front! I seriously had never thought about using a tank top or a camisole under a shirt! (A lot of my friends do it, but I don’t know why I never did it!)

  7. Those are actually really cute. Hate to sound so surprised but I haven’t shopped at Payless since my mom used to pay for my clothes. I’ll have to check them out. Love the sunnies with this outfit.

  8. What a cute outfit!! I’d totally buy those booties if they came in brown. I just don’t wear much black (brown is more my neutral). Thanks for collaborating with Payless. They really do have some cute styles! I haven’t shopped there in years but have purchased the Kangaroos u posted and some sandals that Cyndi posted about in the spring 😉

  9. I just bought two pairs of booties from Payless here in Canada. An olive green pair and a black pair. I can hardly wait to wear them! Thanks for the great styling ideas

  10. My favorite thing about Payless is when your daughter wants 5″ heels for a Winter Ball or Prom, and you only have to spend $20 on “Beyonce” shoes she’ll wear once (and feel like a princess!). LOVE PAYLESS! Same goes for black shoes for band boys/girls who wear them for 3 performances a year 🙂 Payless has really stepped up their game from when I was a teenager!

  11. Jo-Lynne.

Love today’s outfit, you look fabulous. I did try to purchase the leopard handbag but the website says it is unavailable. There was no wait list, is this style from this fall. I did notice on Cyndi’s blog she styled the same handbag but in a tan color, it is also unavailable! I love the leopard, can you recommend another like handbag? Love your blog too!

    1. Hi Suzanne, so yeah, the fall items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale have all gone on sale again and are selling out. I am not sure why… I was expecting them to stick around for the fall season. It is frustrating because I was looking forward to styling so many of them this month, but I try not to feature things that can’t be purchased currently.

This one is cute (and much less $$$): https://rstyle.me/n/byht75gthw
This one is almost the same bag but it is real calf hair as opposed to a printed fabric as the one above: https://rstyle.me/n/byhua2gthw

Honestly, I think I like that style better than the one I have, lol!!!

      1. Thanks Jo-Lynne! As usual I got behind this week and now the Sole Society Leopard Bag is sold out too! My fault I think, still might order the second one you sent me. Have a great day! 🙂
