Cold Shoulder Top Outfit

The cold shoulder trend is huge right now, and I’ve been looking for a cold shoulder top for a while. I’ve ordered a few, but none have worked for me until I found this Chiffon Cold Shoulder V-Neck Blouse by Vince Camuto.

This red cold shoulder top is perfect for pairing with jeans and heels for a fun summer date night outfit!

I would call this a modified cold shoulder top. It’s really more of a split sleeve, but it gives a nod to the trend without compromising modesty, and it allows you to wear a regular bra. So many cold shoulder tops have spaghetti straps, which I like in theory, but they don’t really work for me.

Loving the cold shoulder trend for summer!

This top would be amazing with white pants, but for this post, I wanted to show it with blue jeans. I like the bold tomato red against the mid-wash of my DL1961 Emma Legging Jeans.

These are the Steve Madden Carrson Sandals in Sand Suede. This shoe is super popular this season, and I love the look, but I will be honest and tell you that it is hard to walk in. It does stay on my feet due to the ankle strap, but the 4-inch heel is super high for me. I can only wear these when I don’t plan to do a lot of walking. It’s sturdy, though, because it’s a block heel. It’s just the height that’s an issue.

It’s acceptable to wear suede in the summertime nowadays, but these also come in a pretty tan leather if you prefer that. I actually wish I’d bought the leather ones. I also love them in the leopard. I’ve been trying to talk myself out of buying those. They would be the perfect thing with the black jumpsuit I have hanging in my closet that I’m hoping to photograph soon.

Here’s a view of the back. I like the way this blouse is cut straight across at the bottom and it’s not too voluminous. I ordered a small because the Nordstrom website indicated that it runs large, and I’m glad I did. This is plenty big for me, so definitely size down if you order it.

Pair a red cold shoulder top with blue jeans for a bold summer outfit.

My leopard clutch is old. It was a dupe for the Clare V Leopard Foldover Clutch that is super popular. I highly recommend having a leopard clutch in your closet. It goes with so much and definitely elevates a simple outfit into something more festive and going-out appropriate.

The Stella & Dot Quill Layering Necklace comes with 2 pieces, but the shorter one didn’t land at a good spot so I am just wearing the longer one. I added my new Engravable Skinny Bar Necklace in the neckline to add interest. The bracelets are from Alex and Ani.

Pair a red cold shoulder top with blue jeans and a leopard accessory for a gorgeous summer outfit!

This is something I’d wear out to dinner or to a casual daytime event when I want to be gussied up a bit. To make it dressier, I’d swap out the blue jeans for white jeans or white pants. I can also see wearing this exact outfit with flat sandals or wedges for a more comfortable walking experience.

  1. You look stunning! Love it all. I haven’t been able to embrace several of the trends this year, but this I could maybe do. I love that it’s more subtle and modest than a typical cold shoulder top. Very pretty!

  2. Beautiful top! I love this style of cold shoulder top, which any age can wear. Gorgeous color, and it also comes in a pretty shade of blue, or black. This outfit’s a hit!

  3. I’m a huge fan of the open shoulder shirts as opposed to the off the shoulder just for the fact of being able to wear my normal bra! (I did order an off the shoulder shirt though, because I decided I shouldn’t diss it before i really try it)
You look stunning in this color Jo-Lynne!
I did have to laugh at the comment that these shoes are hard to walk in, yet you’re trying to talk yourself out of getting them in leopard!!!

  4. Just wondering how you do the ” front tuck” on some of your tops (although not this one ). I love the look on you; when I just fold it under it comes down. How does yours stay “tucked” ? Thanks, I love your blog!

  5. I love this top! The whole ensemble is beautiful. I love those shoes, they’re the first thing I noticed.
    I wish I could wear a 4 inch heel, but sadly I can’t.
I could stand in them, but the walking part wouldn’t be pretty. Ha!
I do have heels that I do wear, but can’t wear them if I’m going to walk a lot, so I get where you’re coming from with these beautiful sandals.
I bet the leopard ones would look awesome with your black jumpsuit.
As always, you look chic, and elegant.

  6. I like this take on the cold shoulder top. That color of red looks great on you, and the red and leopard print are a great combo.

  7. Beautiful as always! I had at similar top in purple several years back and donated it recently. You make me wish I hadn’t! Happy almost Friday!
