Coffee Talk 08.06.17

Good morning! We’re having some unseasonably cool weather here on the east coast this weekend and it’s absolutely beautiful. I woke up to 58 degrees this morning!

It’s perfect running weather, and also perfect sit-outside-on-the-deck weather. In fact, I spent most of yesterday afternoon reading a book either on the front porch or the back deck, depending on where the sun was positioned.

It’s been a fairly uneventful weekend around here, and I like it like that. We spent some time with friends on Friday night, hung out here at home for most of the day yesterday, and then last night Paul took me out to dinner for our anniversary at the Capital Grille. Our daughter took this picture before we left.

I ordered the Generous Pour wine tasting menu, and that was fun. We feasted on lobster bisque and calamari for apps and then steak with Brussels sprouts for our main course and finally a decadent cheesecake for dessert. (Our waiter advised us to dip the calamari in the bisque, and he as right. It was fantastic.) Needless to say, I’ll need to do some detoxing this week!

It’s really crazy to think that I’ve spent 22 years with this guy. I mean, really. Who are these kids? I don’t even recognize them. (And why did no one tell me to grow out my bangs for my wedding?)

It hasn’t always been easy, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Our most recent family picture was taken at the Jersey shore last weekend, and I think it’s pretty cool because that’s where it all began. (That’s where we got engaged.) To think that we made all this, it kind of boggles the mind.

So anyway, that’s enough sentimentality for one morning!

We’re off to church in a bit and then I expect I’ll be doing more reading on the deck this afternoon since I need to finish my book for book club and the weather is looking pretty fine! This is my kind of weekend.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

  1. Once again, Happy Anniversary! You two have a beautiful family, for sure! I wish we were expecting your cool weather. Our AC went out last night, so I slept with a ceiling fan and three other fans on. Larry has a window air conditioner back in his room, so he had a cooler night. I did a no no and put the dogs back there a bit ago, so they can be more comfortable, since it’s 80 in the house. Until we get clearance from the transplant doctor, the dogs are not supposed to sleep with him. Oh well! We will get our neighbor over in a bit to see if he can fix it for us. Have a blessed day!

  2. What a wonderful family photo to celebrate your anniversary! Your wedding dress is gorgeous!!! God has sent you many blessings! (and I love your bangs!!)

  3. Happy Anniversary!
With all the hip clothes you have I am rather surprised you dressed so casually for a dinner at the Capital Grille. Not that your outfit isn’t cute , it just doesn’t say “Special Night with the husband ” dinner. (We have a CG here in CA so I’m familiar with the chain). Maybe skinny white jeans instead of denim ? Cold shoulder top or off the shoulder?

  4. Happy Anniversary! I read that you went to Gordon College. I married my Gordon boyfriend too! You look familiar. Did you live in the Wilson 2nd floor dorm around 1990-1991?

    1. I don’t think I lived in Wilson but I was in Sheppard for 90-91 and then I can’t even remember the names of the other ones, lol. I moved to the old one (I think it’s gone now) for 91-93 and then my final year I was in Ferrin in a 3-man apt. LOL!!

  5. Sweet wedding picture and beautiful family! My daughter will be 21 in a few months and I keep asking myself, where did the last 20 years go? I just always try to remind myself to “be present” and enjoy my time with her while I can. Thank you for sharing and enjoy the cooler weather, as it’s going to be another hot day in Texas ????

  6. Happy Wedding Anniversary, Jo-Lynne. ???? Your marriage and family are such a beautiful testimony of God’s faithfulness and grace. I hope your weekend continues to be lovely and enjoyable! ????

  15. You look adorable in your wedding photo; remember, styles change:) Congratulations on 22 years. I, like you, would do it again in a heart beat. My husband died of cancer 3 months before our 33 wedding anniversary in July, so your comments about love and family resonated deeply with me. Never take them for granted. You are truly blessed.

  16. Happy Anniversary! I’m celebrating 23 years today, so I’ve been looking at old photographs as well. The time seems to have flown so fast. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  17. Happy Anniversary Again! Love the wedding pictures, always fun to look back on them & critique ourselves! From the hair, to the gown & the colors & style for the bridesmaids dresses we selected all those years ago! Well, at the time it all seemed like the right choices! LOL!! Your anniversary dinner sounded wonderful. Anything seafood has my name on it! Your family picture is perfect. Beautiful daughters & a handsome son. But then, look at mom & dad!! Best wishes for many more great years & memories!

  18. Happy Aniversary, you are such a pretty lady with such a beautiful family……..you and your husband are gorgeous
    !!!!!

  19. Happy Anniversary! I had the same hairstyle in my wedding photos 21 years ago. I often wonder the very same thing! Having said that, we were both beautiful young brides!

  20. Happy Anniversary! Your bangs looked much better than my giant 80″s hair and dress! Lol. When I look at my wedding pictures I am always thankful that although, my hair, dress and bridesmaids dresses were not what I would choose today, at least I picked the right guy!

  21. Happy Anniversary ! You have a beautiful family! I finished Slightly South of Simple this weekend.
Thanks for recommendation. Easy read that I enjoyed. I love any book set on the beach !
