Choker Neck Top Outfit

Greetings, friends! It’s day 18 of 25 Days of Summer Fashion, and today I have a date night look featuring a hot trend this season — the choker neck top. (It was pretty breezy the day we took these pictures so I’m looking a little windblown!)

This top is by Lush, and it’s juniors sizing so I have the medium. I thought this royal blue was so pretty for summer, but alas, I waited to long to shoot this look and the blue it is gone. However this top does come in a silvery grey and black, and those are fully stocked.

I love it in black, and you could style it the same way as I’m styling this blue one. Also, if juniors sizes don’t work for you, White House Black Market has a similar top in a slightly darker shade of blue.

I like that the armholes aren’t terribly deep and the v-neck isn’t too revealing. It has a bit of an A-line shape, but it drapes nicely.

I also like the high-low hemline, but I think it would be more flattering on someone smaller up top. I feel like it is raised a little too high in the front to be ideal, but for the price, I’m willing to overlook that small detail.

For this date night look, I paired this top with white jeans and turquoise pumps. I love the combination of these two shades of blue, and I have earrings that bring both colors together.

These are my favorite Paige Verdugo white skinnies. They came from Trunk Club last spring, and I was looking to update my white skinnies so I kept them. They’re a bit spendy, but anyone following this blog can attest that I’m getting my money’s worth out of these babies. The cost per wear at this point must be pennies!

They have held up great, and they have plenty of life left in them. The ones I’m linking to are just like these but they have the raw hem. These exact ones have been discontinued, I guess, but I tried on the ones with the raw hem at Nordstrom and they’re the same otherwise.

If you’re looking for a similar pair for less, these LOFT skinnies are a reader favorite and they’re currently 50% off for a limited time.

These turquoise pumps also came from Trunk Club. I love how they pair with darker shades of blue and how they pop against the white jeans. You can also see them styled with a navy off-the-shoulder dress in this post.

I added this beaded cuff bracelet because I like how it coordinates with both shades of blue in this outfit.

Finally, this metallic straw clutch is one of my favorite summer bags for going-out looks. It doesn’t hold much, but it’s a great little bag for a summer event or date night. I think it’s been discontinued, but this City Slim Clutch is very similar.

Even if you don’t purchase this top, this is a simple look that will hopefully inspire you to recreate something similar from your closet if you have a summer event coming up or a dinner date on the horizon. My birthday is in a couple of weeks, and I’m thinking this might be the perfect dinner outfit.

  1. This is a fabulous date night outfit, Jo-Lynne!!
I actually like that the shirt is a little shorter in the front–then you don’t have to worry about “should I tuck it in or not?” In fact, it seems like a perfect length for my step mom (the 60+ model on my blog)—usually I have to shorten most of her shirts!!
And I think that choker neckline would be fun for any age? Or do you think it’s too young for her and my mom??

  2. Oooo!!! Love, love, love this outfit… The way you added different shades of blue in the bracelet and shoes…the advice about buying quality jeans….and this shade of blue looks amazing on you… I gravitate towards black and gray, but you look so fabulous that I now want to try this color too!

  3. I too love how you combined the two shades of blue! I would have never thought to do that, so you have once again, broadened my thinking. I don’t see anything wrong with the length of the top.

  4. I would have never thought to combine the two shades of blue, so once again, broadened my horizon and my way of thinking. So, thank you!

  5. I also love the two shades of blue and never would have thought to combine those two blues! I think the length of the shirt is perfect as well – short enough to show a little more of your jeans but not crop top short. I like the shape of the shirt, too – nice and flowy but not tent-like. Another great outfit!

  6. Jo-Lynne, another awesome outfit. I’m going to join the chorus of your other readers about combining the two shades of blue. Love it! The way you pulled the two shades together using that gorgeous bracelet (and earrings) have given me lots of food for thought. Thank you!

  7. Wow, another gorgeous outfit, everything ties together so beautifully. Love the shades of blue. You look great in
that shade of blue. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about how to pair outfits together and how to accessorize.
    God Bless.

  8. Love the blue combo!!!! What a great pop of color!!!! I love the outfit on you, and so wish i could wear the shorter style shirts like that!!!
