Welcome back to 25 Days of Summer Fashion! It’s day 17 of our summer style series, and I’m styling an orange summer shift dress two ways. This dress is affordable and easy to wear, and it comes in several colors and prints.
Fashion Over 40
I'm a 44-year-old wife and mom of three, sharing my life and style as I navigate the muddy water that is fashion over 40 in the 21st century. Most of us want to maintain our sense of style but don't have a lot of time to devote to it, so that's where I come in! I'm the girlfriend that keeps you in the know with the latest trends, the best sales, and wearable everyday outfits for the modern woman.
I like to call my style "casual chic" and I believe a simple outfit can be made fabulous by adding a few well-placed accessories. I'm not afraid to try a new trend here and there, but my goal is to be stylish, not trendy. I'm a sucker for a pair of designer jeans and a fabulous handbag, but I have no problem mixing high end fashion with more budget-friendly clothing. I try to feature products that fit a variety of budgets, and I hope that my outfit ideas can serve as a jumping-off point to shop your closet or your favorite retailers.
Today I’m putting together my June Favorites. These are some of my favorite new finds or older tried-and-true products that I’m particularly loving right now.
I’ve been experimenting with a lot of fun looks lately, but when it comes down to it, this is what summer style looks like for me. I spend most of my days at home with the occasional afternoon at the swim club so I get up and throw on a t-shirt and shorts almost every morning during the summer, but a t-shirt and shorts doesn’t have to look dumpy or plain Jane. As long as both pieces fit well and are flattering, all you have to do to elevate a simple t-shirt and shorts into a complete outfit is add a few key accessories.
One of the fastest and easiest ways to update your summer style is with a pair of great sunglasses. You can be wearing the trendiest and most put-together outfit, but if your sunnies are outdated the whole look falls flat. I’m excited to be partnering with Maui Jim as a brand ambassador this year, and today I’m styling a summer outfit inspired by my new favorite pair of shades.
Last week I styled a robe jacket that got mixed reviews. I was really pleased by how much everyone seemed to like the outfit, considering that most didn’t really care for the jacket. I took that as a huge compliment. Today I’m styling the sister wardrobe piece to the robe jacket, a sheer kimono. Hopefully I’ll fare as well with this one!
Welcome back to 25 Days of Summer Fashion! I’m partnering with Tapered Collection to style a summer work wear look. One of the most common requests I get is for a good quality white t-shirt that isn’t see-through, and one women set out to create just that. The result is Tapered Collection — a collection of tees designed to flatter a women’s waistline that are produced in the US of high quality fabric that is thick and soft and not at all see-through. They sent me a few of their styles to try, and one of my favorites is the tapered v-neck. I styled it into a work wear look with this ruffle hem cardigan, pink pants, and espadrille wedges.
Today I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to share a fun and flirty summer look featuring this red sleeveless sweater dress. It was the color of this sleeveless sweater dress that first caught my eye, and then I noticed the flouncy ruffled hem and the bands of ribbing that create a subtle striped texture and I knew I had to try it. FYI, this dress is currently 40% off so I expect it to sell quickly.
