Hello and happy hump day from Pennsylvania!!! Yes, I’m writing from the comfort of home, and it feels wonderful. We got in around dinnertime last night after a remarkably uneventful drive down the East Coast (praise the Lord!) and I’m all unpacked and put away and ready to hit the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I’m headed to the mall this morning to get a sneak peek, and I’ll be posting my Guide to the #NSale first thing tomorrow morning. You can follow along on Instagram (I’ll be posting to my Insta Story while I’m at the mall today) but I don’t think I’ll be able to link to anything until Early Access begins tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, I’m sharing my July Favorites today — this is a collection of new finds and old favorites that I’m particularly loving right now.
I’ve always had fairly healthy nails, and I’ve taken pretty good care of them all my life. I never did acrylics or any other type of fake nails, and I try to follow all the rules of proper filing and all that. I would sometimes get them manicured at the cheap salons, but more often I did them myself or left them plain. Lately I haven’t wanted to commit that kind of time to my nails, but I do like to have them painted. The look SO much nicer that way. Of course, painting your nails at home is never quite the same as a professional manicure. It’s hard to get them looking as nice as they do when they’re

You’ve heard of it, right? Gel? Shellac? The nail polish that dries with a UV light and stays on for two weeks? I’ve even been known to sing the praises of the gel manicure. But not anymore. Gel manicures have ruined my nails. (I have also tried Shellac — I do not find a big difference between the two. When I say “gel manicure,” I am referring to gel or Shellac.) At first, it wasn’t so bad.
