27 Days of Spring Fashion: Green & Coral

Well, this is it! Welcome to 27 Days of Spring Fashion! Cyndi and I are teaming up once again to bring you a new spring outfit every day (except Sundays) during the month of March.

You’ve probably seen this green sweater already. I’ve been wearing it a lot. It’s perfect for this time of year, when it’s still too cold to put away your sweaters, but you want to look fresh and ready for spring.

This sweater is on sale for $49, which is an amazing price for cashmere. It’s super soft and cozy. It is pretty true to size; if anything, it runs a bit big. I’m wearing the small. My only complaint is that it tends to pill, so I invested in a sweater stone a few weeks ago. It works great.

I wore this sweater with blue jeans to go shopping in Nashville last weekend with Cyndi, and I was stopped at least twice in the mall by someone complimenting the color of this sweater. It really is the perfect spring green.

To update this sweater for spring, I paired it with my favorite white jeans and these adorable perforated ballet flats in a bright coral. It was a dreary day when we shot this look, but it’s hard to let the weather get you down when you’re wearing bright coral shoes!

Perforation is a huge trend this year. I even wrote a post about it! I love how that detail elevates these traditional ballet flats and keeps them current.

I have these shoes in the nude leather as well as the leopard, and they are THE most comfortable ballet flats I’ve ever put on my feet. I highly recommend them. They’re in the $100 range, so they aren’t cheap, but they’re great quality and they will last years. That said, we women like our options, so here is a less expensive pair that also has some arch support. And for a non-perforated option, these are super cute for $29.

For those of you with finicky feet who struggle to wear flats, Vionic makes a similar pair with arch support. If you’ve tried any of the Vionic flats, you’ll have to let us know how you like them.

These jeans are my go-to white jeans. I love how they fit, and they’re thick enough that you can’t see through them. I do recommend sizing up. For a less expensive option, I’ve heard good things about the white jeans at LOFT.

Because it’s been too chilly to run around without a coat in these here parts, I wanted to show this outfit with a trench coat. I really like this shorter version in a classic khaki.

I always buy my trench coats with a hood because I hate to futz with an umbrella, but sometimes you don’t want the extra bulk, so I love that this one has a removable hood. It also has a zip-out lining that you can use on really cold days.

Another great option is this Halogen trench that is on sale for $129. It comes in beige, black, and a gorgeous coral if you prefer a bright color.

Finally, I’m wearing the Tala necklace and earrings from Stella & Dot. I don’t usually do the matchy-matchy thing with my jewelry, but I like how these look together. I think the mosaic detail is so pretty. The earrings are a 2-in-1 style, so you can actually remove the chandelier and wear them as a little drop earring.

This is the kind of outfit I like to wear while I’m waiting for spring to get here. In Philly, that can take a while! I’m warm enough to be comfortable, and the colors are cheerful and spring-like.

  1. Really cute color combo and I love it with the look of stark white denim! I wouldn’t have thought to put the colors together but it looks nice!

    1. I have that sweater also Jo-Lynne and love it too – also find it pills but like you I purchased a de-fuzzer – it’s such a beautiful colour.

  2. Love the trench coat! I haven’t worn my white jeans since last summer and I’m so ready to break them out. I know it’s old fashion that I think I can’t wear them until a certain date. 🙂

Hope you have a great day!

    Patricia

  3. Excellant spring outfit!! Thanks for the alternatives in shoes. I have very wide short feet so I have many issues finding cute shoes but I have worn both naturaluzer’s and vionic’s in the past, hoping one of rhem will work as I would love a cute pair of ballet flats that are on trend. Thanks again-off to a great start! Looking forward to the rest of the series.

  4. Ok – I am more determined than ever to add a pair of white jeans to my wardrobe! Love the pops of color in the shoes and sweater. Can hardly wait till spring!

  5. Thanks for the inspiration! I have this sweater so it’s fun to see how you styled it. I’m searching for the perfect white jeans at a good price point. What is your experience with Hudson jeans? Do they run true to size? Thank you!

    1. Hudson makes great jeans, and I find that they fit well and flatter. My complaint is they always seem big and stretchy in the waist/belly area, and they slide down on me. This is unusual for me. If anything, jeans are too tight in the waist b/c I tend to carry extra weight there. So I think it depends on body type. I’m thinking they would be better for “apple” shapes and straight body types. Hope that helps!

  6. Love the mix of colors. I have spring fever so bad and it’s so hard to figure out what to wear. Even though it’s still cold enough somedays for winter wear, I just feel strange wearing it, but it’s not warm enough to throw the switch to spring styles. This outfit is the perfect compromise!

  7. I have been wearing white jeans all winter thanks to you and Cyndi. I guess the old rules are out the window. Yea!
I bought white jeans at TJ Maxx for $16.99! The brand is D Jeans. They are thick enough not to show thru, and they wash beautifully. I’m always on the hunt for bargains, I liked the jeans so much I purchased several colors.
Just a tip for your more budget conscious shoppers.

  8. Love this! I have very similar pieces to this outfit, but never thought to put them together. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. Always good to think spring as I’m watching a blizzard out my office window!! Yikes. I guess that’s what I should expect for March 1 in Wisconsin!

    Cute outfit, as always!

  10. Is your size on the perforated Sam Edelman’s same as the original? I’ve read more than one place that the perforated style runs larger? Super cute outfit!

  11. Yay for Spring! I love your outfit. I especially like the coral flats, and I’m going to have to check those out. And I love the look with the trench coat. I think that khaki color looks so elegant when paired with white.

Do you think spring will be in full swing when I visit Pennsylvania in late April? I’ve been to PA in every other season multiple times, but never in the spring. What to expect? (April 28-May 1?)

    1. It’s a total crapshoot, to be honest. I kind of hate spring here. I would wait till it’s closer and look at the weather. It SHOULD be nice – 60s and 70s, but I can’t guarantee it.

  12. Love the color of the sweater on you. I have a blouse the same color I could use as soon as it warms up just a little. I think we all are ready for Spring, but the cool weather still sticking around.

    1. We don’t have any! LOL!!! We were pretty much working the whole time. Even though it was fun work (hello, shopping!), we were tired and turned in early both nights.

  13. I LOVE this look! I’ve got some yellow/python print Sam Edelman sandals that I usually wear when I wear a bright green like that. I’m SO glad I bought that trench coat … I’ve already gotten so much use out of it. We’re going to Ireland this summer and I’m just *convinced* that it’s going to be the perfect top layer. I’m also convinced that I need that green sweater for the trip!

  14. I have to tell you … when I pick my grandson up from school sometimes I see this woman picking up her child that looks just like YOU! I mean same color and style hair, same skin tone, dresses same – I always do a double-take and think it’s you – even though I know you don’t live in Texas. I wonder if she’s your twin? LOL.

Love this outfit and the green and coral pops of color against the white jeans.

  15. We are going to our mountains this weekend and there will be snow. Piles and piles of it. I’m thinking boots, sorels , jackets sweaters hats and gloves. Today in the valley it is cool and sunny. We have beautiful blossoms on the stone fruit trees, a sure sign of spring. I love the colors in your pictures. Your clothes always look perfect on you. Thank you for your work. God bless, Kathy

  16. Love how you paired the green sweater with the pink flats 🙂 so, so CUTE! I found you on liketkit’s Instagram and I’m glad I did 🙂

  17. This green is such a gorgeous color. I love every way I’ve seen you style it, and this is one of the best! Those flats are such a fun color, love them with this!
