2012 in Pictures

I love taking a little walk down memory lane at the end of the year. I always print out a family photo album with iPhoto to commemorate the year in our family’s life, and I do a similar thing here on ye olde blawg with a post full of photos of the high points of our year.

Wanna join me!? I’ll include a linky at the end of this post for anyone who wants to play along. And feel free to grab this button! (The code is at the end with the Linky instructions, if you need it.)

January

Two posts that practically tied for popularity in January.

Pinterest for Bloggers was a hit. It would be hard to understate how drastically the Pinterest has changed the landscape of blogging. Now every post not only has an image, but often a fancy title on it to make it “Pinteresting”. As of the writing of this post, Pinterest is my top referring website . . . yes, it even sends me more blog traffic than Google.

Food Safety vs. Nourishment was another hot topic.

February

In February, I attended my 4th Blissdom. I had so much fun hanging out with Nicole and Jill among many others.

And I adore my roomies, Christina and Lisa.

HOW could we forget THIS one!? I still miss my raw milk. It was so delicious and made my tummy so happy . . . well, until I contracted campylobacter. Then? Not so happy . . . About That Raw Milk . . .

How to Wear Red Jeans is one of my post popular posts of all time.

March

How to Make an Image for Pinterest was a hit. (And it still is.)

And for some reason, How to Wear Jeans and a T-Shirt has become very popular as of late.

Yes, people actually search for that. A LOT!

April

Back in April, our family took a whirlwind tour of Washington D.C.

This Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Caramelized Onions isn’t only my most popular post from April, it is consistently among my most popular posts of all time. And I just adore this photo.

And at the end of the month, I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. SO much fun. The Wild Africa Trek was among the highlights.

May

Mother’s Day is in May of course, and I love this Mother’s Day Through the Years post I put together.

And Homemade Strawberry Popsicles was my most popular post from that month. They are truly “kid-tested, mother-approved”!!

June

How To Write An About Page was a highly trafficked post.

And I celebrated my 3000th blog post.

We had our first CSA pick-up, and I soon gained a whole new vocabulary. Who KNEW there were so many varieties of greens!?

July

In July, I celebrated my 40th birthday.

We took our annual family vacation to Maine.

AND I went to NYC for my Cosmo photo shoot. Here I am gettin’ mah hair did.

August

In August, I attended the whirlwind that was BlogHer and roomed with my good friend Mel.

And I met Kristin Davis.

I got to experience the luxurious Winvian Resort and meet the amazing women behind the new Chevy Malibu (thank you,  Cecily).

And Savannah joined our family.

My How To Make A Cosmo post was a hit.

And my post On Saying Yes More won me a the Kid Pointz Blogger gig, which I have been enjoying immensely.

September

In September, I ran a 5K with a bunch of friends. I wasn’t pleased with my time, but I had fun.

I got to see Bruce . . . this time from the pit. In which I discovered that I am officially an old fuddy duddy.

And my Olay advertorial appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine.

October

My baby turned 7.

As part of the Target Inner Circle, I got to experience Target’s Media Day, at which they revealed their designer collaboration with Neiman Marcus.

And we ended out the month with a family trip to Disney World.

November

My son became a teenager. HOLD ME!

I ran another 5K and THIS TIME I redeemed myself with a new personal best of 28:32.

I also experienced Black Friday for the first time ever and had a blast with a few good friends.

December

My Gluten Free Buffalo Chicken Dip was a popular post this month.

And I poured my heart and soul into my Holiday Gift Guides.

2012 Holiday Gift Guide

We had family portraits taken by Kate Giovinco Photography.

My daughter turned 10.

And we celebrated Christmas.

TWICE.

Tonight we look forward to ringing in the New Year with good friends.

2012 has definitely been a full year — full of laughter and tears, toil and trouble, great times and not so great times; but through it all I am incredibly thankful for God’s goodness no matter what. I am eagerly looking ahead to see what 2013 will bring.

Happy New Year!!!

  1. Happy New Year Jo-Lynne! I’m glad I started following your blog in the last half of this year, but wish I had started earlier. You could have saved my brussel sprout disasters and answered my questions about Raw Milk. You really are an inspiration to me and a terrific leader of the blogging community. Can’t wait to see what’s coming in 2013!

  2. What a wonderful review! I SO enjoyed going back and reading some of these posts that I missed. Great job! I can’t wait to see what is in store for 2013…
